    The funeral of the late Mrs. Mary Hackbart who passed away at the Freeport Sanatorium last Wednesday was held on Sunday afternoon with services at St. Peter's Luth eran church. There was a large attendance, Rev. Lamark officiated The pall bearers were Messrs. William Sattler, Edwin Huehn, Percy Peppler, George Helmpel, Lorne Hehmidt and Alonzo Hahn.

    MARIE OLGA HACKBART 1921 - 2006 - Passed away peacefully, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Sunday, April 30, 2006. Marie is survived by her sister, Margaret (Joseph) Brown; brother, Herbert (Verna) Hackbart; as well as nieces and nephews, Larry (Maureen) Hackbart, Dennis (Esther) Harrett, Mary Anne (Robin) Evans, Richard (Patricia) Harrett, Murray Hackbart, Joyce (Wayne) Gerber, Marlene (Paul) Ming, Joan (Neil) Gray; her dear friends, Nellie and Ronnie and many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Albert and Mary Anne (nee Zinkann) Hackbart; brothers, Carl, Alfred and Kenneth Hackbart; sister, Frieda Harrett; nephew, Michael Brown and friend Florence. Marie worked most of her life at J.M. Schneider until her retirement. She was an independent woman who traveled extensively throughout the world. Friends are invited to a service in celebration of Marie's life in the Chapel of the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday May 4, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Brill officiating. Interment will follow in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Following the committal service at Parkview Cemetery a reception will be held in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room.

    Alfred Hackbart Said Missing in Overseas Action Feb 23, 1944

    Word was received today by his guardians, Harvey and Delilah Hackbart, 61 Gaukel Street, that Sgt. Alfred Harvey Hackbart is missing after air operations overseas on Feb. 20.

    Sgt. Hackbart, who was born in Wellesley Township and educated in Crosshill, was a resident of Kitchener for four or five years prior to enlisting with the R.C.A.F. on Sept. 2, 1942. He was a buffer at the Canada Skate Manufacturing Co., Ltd. He went overseas late in June of last year.

    SGT. ALFRED HACKBART

    Missing since Feb. 20, 1944, when he failed to return from an operational flight on Feb. 22, Sgt. Alfred Hackbart, 21, is to be presumed missing, believed killed, for official purposes.

    According to a government letter, no information has been obtained.

    Sgt. Hackbart, whose parents are not living, is the ward of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hackbart, 61 Gaukel St. He was born in Wellesley Township and educated in Crosshill. He came to Kitchener to live four or five years prior to enlisting with the R.C.A.F. on Sept. 2, 1942. He was posted overseas in June, 1943. He was a buffer at the Canada Skate Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in civilian life.

    Three brothers and three sisters survive: Carl, with the Canadian Army in England, Herbert on a farm near Bamberg, Kenneth on a farm at Heidelberg; Mrs. Frank Frieda Harrett, Roy St.; Margaret, employed at the Freeport Sanatorium and Marie at Heidelberg.

Herbert was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Herbert and Verna farmed for 40 years in North Easthope Township. His passions included ballroom dancing and fishing.     Donald Henry Hohner

    With sadness but respect for a life well lived, the family of Donald Hohner wish to announce his peaceful passing Feb. 4th, 2021 in Freeport Palliative Care at the age of 93.

    Donald Henry Hohner was born to Elmer and Hilda (nee Zinkan) Hohner on March 14, 1927 in Kitchener where he lived his entire life. He worked at Hohner's Meat Market, the family business until 1968 and then went on to work at Schneider's Meats until he retired. He is predeceased by his parents, wife and brother (Kenneth).

    A loving husband to Ruth (nee Boshart) for 38 years, they were blessed with five children \endash Wendy (Elliott), Kathleen, Brian, Jeffrey and Robert. For many years they enjoyed singing in the St. Matthews church choir and Don continued with the choir after Ruth's passing in 1987. After retirement Don used his skillful hands to make renovations as well as model sailing ships, wood carvings and radio-controlled airplanes. He became a member of the KW Flying Dutchmen RC Club and also served for many years with a friend as the handyman for St. Matthew's Lutheran Church where their great joy was to be able to repair or improve anything that needed it.

    He is survived by his children, grandchildren Kristen, Erin, Mark, Marie, David, Theodore, Benjamin, Anika and great grandchildren Gabriel, Kaylin, Myles, Nylah, Dean, Kent, Greta, and Ruby.

    In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service, but a gathering of family and friends can attend his internment in the future.

    The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Grand River Hospital Freeport Campus for their wonderful care of our Father and Grandfather in his final days.

Murray will be remembered by his nephew and nieces, David Gerber, Angela Schyff, Jennifer Ming, Sherri Ming-Bell, Candice Thornton, Danielle Remers and by his 13 grand nieces and nephews. Also remembered by his aunt and uncle Leona & Harold Mohr and many cousins.

    Predeceased by his parents Herbert & Verna (Mohr) Hackbart.

    Relatives and friends will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home 291 Huron St. New Hamburg on Wednesday March 10, 2021 from 12 - 2pm. Funeral Service will follow at 2:30pm. Interment to follow in Rushes Cemetery, Wellesley.

    Those wishing to attend visitation or service must RSVP on Murray's memorial page under service details as a limited number of people are allowed in the building and face masks and social distancing will be required.
