Notes:
The death took place on Friday, Sept. 9. at Michawaka, Ind., of Mrs. Wm. Leyes, a former resident of Wellesley Village. The deceased was born in Rhenish, Bavaria, Germany, in August, 1826. In 1846 she emigrated with her husband to New York, where they resided nearly 10 years. In 1859 they came to Wellesley village, Waterloo Co. Here they lived over 45 years, after which they moved to St. Clements. At the close of 1902 they sold out and went to Michawaka, where nearly all their children are residing. She leaves a sorrowing husband, 84 years old, 5 sons, 6 daughters, 45 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.-Berlin News Record.

"Katherine Leyes, 67 years old, of 1017 East Miner street, died Sunday afternoon at one o'clock after a prolonged illness, death being due to complications. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. J. I. Schmidt of South Bend.
The deceased was born in New York, Dec 16/18, 1846. She came here from Canada 12 years ago.
Funeral services will be held from the residence tomorrow morning at nine o'clock by Rev. J. P. J. Carroll of St. Joseph church.

Mishawaka - When relatives of Mrs. Elizabeth Thallemer went to her room this morning at 8 o'clock to serve her breakfast, they found she had died during the night or morning, in her residence, 517 Forest Avenue. Yesterday she was able to be up and about, although for the last six months she had been ill. Rheumatism and a complication of diseases are given as the cause of death.
Mrs. Thallemer was 77 years old and had come to this city 55 years ago from Chicago.
Her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Leyes came to this country from Germany and she was the eldest of 12 children.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Aug. 7, 1848, and was married to Alois Thallemer Oct. 15, 1882. He died March 16, 1905.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph and William of Mishawaka, and Herman of South Bend; three sisters, Mrs Wilhelmina Dosmann, Mishawaka, Miss Anna Leyes, South Bend, Mrs. Lena Hunsberger, St. Clemens, Canada, and two brothers, George Leyes, Hamilton, Canada, and Louis Leyes, Mishawaka.
The body may be viewed at the residence tomorrow. The funeral will be held from St. Monica's Catholic Church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. John F. Hohl officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mrs. Thallemer was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Monica's Church.

John J. Leyes, 71, of 125 E. 8th St., died at 1: 40 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital after an illness of one month. He was born in St. Clements, Ontario, Canada, Aug 24, 1893 and came to Mishawaka from St. Clements in 1904.
He married Charlotte Kane in South Bend, Oct. 23, 1923. Surviving are his widow; four sons, William E. Leyes, of Mishawaka, Robert J., and James A. Leyes at home and Joseph C. Leyes, of South Bend; nine grandchildren; two sisters, The Misses Margaret and Monica Leyes, and a brother, Leo Leyes, all of Mishawaka.
Mr. Leyes was a veteran of World War I. He was retired by the Ball-Band Plant in 1957 after 35 years.
Friends may call in the Bent & Sprague funeral chapel from 7 until 9 p.m. today and from 2 until 5 and 7 uti8l 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Church. Very Rev. Curt A. Suelzer, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. The rosary will be recited at 7: 30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel. Mr. Leyes was a member of St. Joseph's Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 360, Mishawaka, and the Veterans of World War I Barracks 830.

Born in Bamburg 85 years ago, son of the late Thomas Hinschberger and the late Mary Moser; Philip was a life long member of St. Agatha RC Church, where he was a past member of the Holy Name Society and also a former member of the Kitchener Knights of Columbus. He served for many years as a trustee on the St. Agatha separate school board. Philip farmed near St. Agatha from 1946-1975. He was also employed at Uniroyal (Dominion Tire) Ltd. for 43 years.
Loving husband of the former Rosetta Greyerbiehl of St. Agatha. Dear father of Albert and his wife Martina Hinschberger of St. Agatha, Shirley and her husband Louis Nowak of St. Agatha, Theresa and her husband Wayne Grant of St. Agatha, Carol and her husband Frank Koebel of Waterloo, Helen and her son Raymond Renaud of Waterloo, Janet and her husband Roger Dupuis of Waterloo, Diane and her son Dalton Hinschberger of St. Agatha, Philip T and his wife Betty Hinschberger of St. Agatha.
