    Helm, Albert (Bert) - At K-W Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1988, Albert Helm, aged 81 years, of 133 Moore Ave S., Waterloo. Albert was a member of St. Louis RC Church, Waterloo. Loved father of Bonnie (Kugler), loving grandfather of two grandchildren, David and Andrew. Companion and friend of Mabel Yantz. Brother of Anne (Mrs. Clifford Sinclair) and Frieda (Mrs. Edward Schlueter), both of Kitchener; Godfather of Shirley Sparrow of Barrie and Ted Read of Elmira. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Ferdinard [sic?] Helm and his wife the former Ruth Reuel; two brothers William and Urban of Detroit and three sisters, Agnes Clark, Lavina Cook and Rose Koebel, all of Kitchener. He retired from his work at Warren Paving Company after many years. Mr. Helm's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home, Thursday at 10: 30 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 11 a.m. (Thursday) at St. Louis RC Church, Waterloo, Rev. Peter Pigott officiating. Interment Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo. Parish Prayers will be held, Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

    Sister Rosalind Koebel died of cancer on August 9, 2015 at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown, Ontario. She was of 92 and in her 72nd year as a School Sister of Notre Dame.

    Virginia was born in St. Clements, Ontario on February 23, 1923, the fifth child of Robert and Rose (Helm) Koebel. Although she enjoyed playing with her brothers, Virginia happily welcomed a baby sister when she was 11 years old. From early childhood, Virginia wanted to become a "sister" teacher. Often her brothers played school with her, at times reluctantly.

    At the age of 15, having completed Grade 10 at St. Clements School, Ontario, Virginia entered the candidature in Waterdown, Ontario and on July 29, 1942 she became Novice Mary Rosalind. She was delighted to have St. Rose of Lima as her patron saint. As a child she tried to emulate the virtues of St. Rose and would have liked to ask her father to build a hut in the family garden so she could imitate St. Rose. She professed her vows in 1943.

    After attending Hamilton Teachers' College, Sister Rosalind began her teaching career in 1944 at schools in Hamilton, Ontario, Holy Family and St. Emeric. She then moved to Kitchener, Ontario where she taught at St. John, St. Anne and St. Theresa Schools. She took educational courses during the summer months. Although Sister Rosalind was an excellent teacher in the primary grades, she had to discontinue as a classroom teacher in 1953 due to ill health.

    However, she used her skills as an educator by tutoring children in St. Agatha, Welland, St.Catharines, Mildmay, Waterdown, Toronto and Formosa. She, also, worked as part time librarian. When she was well enough she filled in as a part-time supply teacher.

    An added suffering was her loss of hearing. Again, she did not allow this impediment to interfere with her daily activities which included managing the audio resources in the Motherhouse library for a number of years.

    Sister Rosalind always carried a pad of paper and pen with her, so that she could communicate by having notes written to her. In spite of her hearing impairment she maintained an interest in community and world events. Sister Rosalind seemed to know when a piece of news would be of interest to an individual. Pertinent newspaper clippings, accompanied with a note, would appear on one's desk.

    In spite of her years of illness, Sister Rosalind did not complain. With deep faith she trusted the words of Christ, "Come to me ...you who are burdened; I will refresh you." She greeted each person with cheerfulness and a joyful spirit. She readily expressed gratitude for the smallest act of kindness.

    Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Pablito Labado, chaplain at Notre Dame Convent. Sister Rosalind is survived by her sister, Theresa Winklemaier and nieces and nephews.

    After a brief illness, Terry passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late George (2014). Loving mother of Lea Anne (Rick), Greg (Vicki), the late Mark (2012), Pat and Tracy (Peter). Proud Nana of Jenny, Landon, Carrie, Kelly (Quentin), Jessie (Justin), Tayler, Paige, Marshall, Mitchell and Amanda and Great-Nana of Brody, Aiden, Chloe, Abbey, Logan, Lillie, Sullivan, Emmerson, Finnigan, Hesstin, and Luxlea. Predeceased by her sister and six brothers. Mom loved to laugh. She enjoyed cards, watching the Blue Jays, knitting, and socializing with her many friends. She was always there to lend a hand and put a smile on everyone's face. Many thanks to the staff in Emergency and the 6th Floor at St. Mary's Hospital for their compassionate care.

    Terry's family will receive relatives and friends from 5:15-8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Daniel RC Church, 29 Midland Dr. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 1 p.m. Please note that if you plan to attend the visitation or the mass, masks are mandatory and you must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling (519) 749-8467.     Passed away peacefully at Sunshine Centre of Luther Village on Wednesday June 17, 2015 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Marion (1989). Loving father of Paul and his wife Carol. Proud grandfather of Mark Bergman and his wife Ahava. Dear brother of Ruth Longeway (late Hodge), Rita Warias (Al) and the late Fred Bergman (Margaret). Ed was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Westmount Golf and Country Club, and a former member of the Waterloo Lions Club. Despite having a disability from childhood, he enjoyed curling, golf, fishing and hunting. He was the proud owner of Ed Bergman Jewellers, retiring in 1981. Ed's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday June 21, 2015 and from 10-10:45 am on Monday June 22, 2015 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Monday at 11 am. Reception to follow. Private cremation to take place.
