    BOWMAN, Vera Peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Grand River Hospital, in her 80th year. Vera Bowman (nee Diefenbacher), of Floradale, was the beloved wife of the late Abner Bowman (2005). Loved mother of Karen and Jamie Gaul of Stratford, Gloria and Ken Martin of Elmira. Loving grandmother of Jason Haut of Elmira, Jeremy and Kristine Haut of Blackie, AB, and Rose Lawrence of Stratford. Dear sister of Edward and Gladys Diefenbacher of Drayton, Walter and Florence Martin of Elmira, Elaine Frey of St. Jacobs, Earl and Esther Diefenbacher of Alma, Doris MacKenzie of Naniamo, BC, and sister-in-law of Elvina Diefenbacher of Wallenstein. Also remembered by her sisters-in-law Almeda Krieger, Edna (Vernon) Shoemaker and Viola Lichty. Predeceased by her parents Aaron and Irene (Martin) Diefenbacher, sister Aleda Diefenbacher and brother Lorne Diefenbacher. Vera was a faithful member of Floradale Mennonite Church and was very involved with all food service activities. She was well known to many for her Christmas baking and was often called the "Cookie Lady". Visitation for relatives and friends will take place at Floradale Mennonite Church on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Vera's life and faith will be held at Floradale Mennonite Church on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. The casket will remain open at the church until 1: 40 p.m. Family interment will be in the Floradale Mennonite Cemetery prior to the service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or House of Friendship. Left to mourn is his wife, of 53 years, Elvina (Wideman) Diefenbacher. Loving father of Douglas and Dianne Diefenbacher of Gowanstown; Lloyd and Joyce Diefenbacher of Moorefield; Shirley and Kenneth Wideman of Fordwich; Steven and Valerie Diefenbacher of Kingwood; and Marvin and Judy Diefenbacher of Drayton. He is lovingly remembered by 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. Vera Bowman, Edward and Gladys Diefenbacher, Florence and Walter Martin, Elaine Frey, Earl and Esther Diefenbacher, and Doris Mackenzie. Predeceased by his parents Aaron and Irene Diefenbacher, brother-in-law Abner Bowman, sister Aleda Diefenbacher, and grandson Tyson Diefenbacher. Harold spent most of his working career at Wallenstein Feed and Supply. After retirement he kept himself busy with golf and a number of charities. Visitation will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home in Elmira, on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the Elmira Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2. Interment immediately following the service at the Hawkesville Cemetery. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Clare's ministry included pastoral care in the community and at the Regional Mental Health Care, London for 25 years. He was a valued professional mentor and colleague in his role as Supervisor in the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education (CAPPE). Clare volunteered his time on numerous boards including, Craigwood Youth Services, Ontario Association of Children's Mental Health Centres, Ontario Chaplains Association and Sydenham Community Credit Union. Visitations will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel , 709 Wonderland Road North, on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Valleyview Mennonite Church, 1170 Melsandra Avenue, London, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment immediately following the service.     At the Southampton Care Centre on Thursday, July 8th, 2010 at the age of 76, Marion (nee Martin). Beloved wife for 54 years of Gordon Longmire of Port Elgin. Mother of Doug of Southampton, Dennis and his wife Louise of Tavistock, Don and his wife Deborah of Tiverton, Cathy and her husband George May of Sudbury, and Brian and his wife Darlene of Port Elgin. Grandma of fourteen grandchildren. She is also survived by seven brothers: Lloyd (Betty) of Guelph, Leo (Elsie) of Hanover, Menno (Laurel) of Chepstow, Ernie (Carol) of Elora, Allen (Pauline) of Elmira, Ray of Coquitlam, B.C., and Phares (Marlene) of Elora. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Magdalena Martin.

    Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 11th, 2010. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Monday at 11: 00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Widdowson.

    Interment Southampton Cemetery.

    Obituary of Allen Martin

    Having finished his work here on earth, Allen was called to his eternal home on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. At the age of 75 he had fulfilled his role as a mentor, teacher and helper. Born on February 13, 1943 he pursued his dream of being an educator, a position which he held for 33 years in Waterloo Region, with most of his career at Linwood Public School. Allen served as a volunteer firefighter with the Floradale Fire Department for over 27 years. Having a deep love for music, Allen led church choirs, taught music, and sang in several gospel music groups. His other interests included photography, woodworking, fishing, as well as church and community involvement. Allen brought a smile and a laugh to everyone he knew and anyone he came in contact with. He lived life to the fullest every day.

    When a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease at age 50 forever changed his course, Allen found a great joy in writing a column, "My Side of the Dam", for the Woolwich Observer. He also appreciated going with Pauline on many bus trips during his early retirement years. While Parkinson's progressively and irrevocably changed his life, Allen took these changes and disappointments in stride, showing acceptance, gratitude, and grace.

    Allen will be lovingly missed by his dear wife of 52 years, Pauline (Gingrich) Martin, whom he married on July 2, 1966. He will be forever remembered by his children, Sherri and James Martin-Carman, and Tammy and Calvin Shantz, all of Elmira. Allen will always be cherished by his grandchildren, Erika (Marty) Metzger, Amber Shantz and her friend Jacob Vos, Justin Frayne and Caleb Martin-Carman. Survived by his siblings Leo (Elsie), Menno (Laurel), Ernie (Carol), Raymond, Phares (Marlene), and sister-in-law Betty Martin. Also missed by the Gingrich family: Florence (Darrell) Jantzi, Cliff (Yvonne), Carol (Dalton) Jantzi, Bonnie, and Darlene (Eric) Frede. Allen is predeceased by his parents Henry and Magdalena (Diefenbacher) Martin, his siblings Marion (Gord) Longmire and Lloyd; Pauline's parents Ivan and Matilda Gingrich, and her brothers Jim Gingrich and Larry Gingrich.

    The family will receive relatives and friends at the Floradale Mennonite Church, 22 Florapine Road, Floradale, on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 7-9 p.m., and Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will take place at 2 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Floradale Mennonite Church. A private interment will take place in Floradale Mennonite Cemetery prior to the service.

    We cannot express enough gratitude to all the staff at Barnswallow Place Care Community for the exemplary care and love shown to Allen and our family. The dignity and respect given was second to none. You are angels here on earth.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, or Community Care Concepts would be appreciated.

Surviving are one brother (Trevor), 2 sisters (Sherilee and Cindy Lee), maternal grandmother (Mrs. Marion Block), and paternal grandparents (George and Elizabeth Wideman). He attended Hawkesville Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at Elmira Mennonite Church on Sept. 12, in charge of Gary Knarr and S. David Garber; interment in Hawkesville Community Cemetery.
