    Mrs. Edwin Hackbart - Mrs. Edwin Hackbart, 12 Margaret Ave. N., Waterloo, died today at K-W Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 74. The former Hilda Duench, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Duench and was born Sept. 5, 1893, in Wallenstein and lived in Waterloo for the past nine years. Mrs. Hackbart was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, and the Ladies Aid of the Church. She was also predeceased by a brother and two sisters. Surviving are her husband, six sons, Frederick, RR (?) Breslau, Walter, Waterloo, Arthur, Clayton and Wilfred, all of Kitchener and Edward, RR 1, Bamberg; six daughters, Mrs. Vera Fischer and Gladys Hackbart, both of Waterloo, Mrs. Earl (Florence) Schmidt, St. Agatha, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Berg, Crosshill, Mrs. Arnold (Mildred Lantz, New Hamburg, Mrs. Edward (Ruby) Thompson, Ariss; four brothers, Aaron, Waterloo, Charles and Andrew, both of Elmira and Norman of Kitchener; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Schneider, Hawkesville, Louisa, Elmira, Irene, Waterloo, and Laura, Petersburg and 41 grandchildren. The body will be at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, until Monday noon when removal will be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for service at 3 pm, Rev. A.A. Schweitzer of St. Mark's Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. Donations t the Ontario Heart Foundation of the Canadian Cancer Society will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

    A member of St. John's Lutheran Church, for many years he farmed in the Mannheim area.

    Husband of Pearl Rickert; father of Arnold of Kitchener, and James of Cambridge; brother of Norman of Kitchener, Charlie and Andrew, both of Heidelberg, Irene of Waterloo and Laura of Heidelberg; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen Duench and Mary Schlueter and several brothers and sisters.

    Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, until noon on Tuesday, when removal will be made to St. John's Lutheran Church for the funeral and committal service at 3: 30 pm, with Rev. A. L. Conrad officiating. Interment Memory Gardens.

    LINWOOD, May 18. - Mrs. Clara Giese died suddenly at the K-W Hospital last night. She was the widow of Bruno Giese. Deceased was a daughter of Mrs. Mary Duench, R.R. 1, Wallenstein, and the late Stephen Duench. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church. Surviving, besides her mother, are four sons, William, St. Jacobs; [unreadable name] and Harold at [unreadable], Earl of Waterloo; six daughters, Mrs. Russell (Nellie) Robinson, Mrs. Lorne (Rose) Schnarr and Mrs. Arthur (Elma) Pinke, all of Waterloo; Mrs. John (Irene) Jurchuk, Kitchener; Mrs. Frank [(Lor…?)] [unreadable] [unreadable] Ind., and Nelda at home; five brothers, Charles and Andrew Duench, R.R. 1, Wallenstein; Norman, Waterloo; Albert and Aaron, New Dundee; five sisters, Miss Louise Duench, R.R. 1, Wallenstein; Mrs. August Schneider, Hawkesville; Mrs. Edwin Hackbart, Bamberg; Miss Irene Duench, Waterloo, and Miss Laura Duench, Petersburg.     ST. JACOBS - Albert Christian Duench of St. Jacobs died today at K-W Hospital after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 17, 1908 in Wallenstein, son of the late Stephen Duench and Mary Schlueter Duench. He came to St. Jacobs five years ago after living in New Dundee. He married Rosella May Sararas at New Dundee Jan. 8, 1936, and she survives. Mr. Duench was an employee of the Sunshine Waterloo Company for the past 17 years, and was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs.

    In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Pauline, at home; four brothers Aaron, RR 2, Petersburg; Charles and Andrew of RR 1, Wallenstein; and Norman of Kitchener; five sisters, Mrs. Emma Schneider of Hawkesville, Mrs. Edwin Hackbart of Waterloo, Miss Louisa Duench of RR 1, Wallenstein, Miss Irene Duench of St. Jacobs and Miss Laura Dench, RR 2, Petersburg. Three sisters predeceased him.

    The body will be at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon Thursday, when removal will be made to the home. Funeral services will be conducted there at 2: 30 pm Friday, followed by service at St. James' Church at 3 pm, Rev. Adolph Kappes will officiate and burial will be in St. James' Lutheran Cemetery.

    ROSE A. (Happy) SCHNARR nee Giese 1923 - 2006

    Passed away, peacefully, at St. Mary's General Hospital, on Sunday, October 15, 2006, at the age of 83.

    Daughter of the late Clara (Duench) and Bruno Giese.

    Beloved wife of Lorne Schnarr for 63 years.

    Loving mother of Geraldine (Franklin) Lewis and the late Joan Wilkinson and Joan's surviving husband, Albert Wilkinson.

    Remembered by seven grandchildren and their spouses, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

    Sister of Harold Giese, Earl Giese (Ruth), Nelda Sutherland (Donald), Lorraine Williams and Alma Pinke. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard Schnarr (Loretta), Morris Schnarr (Joan), Ralph Schnarr (Mary) and Edna Schnarr.

    Survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Predeceased by brothers, Carl Giese, Bill Giese (Jean); sisters, Nellie Robinson (Russell), Irene Jurchuk (John); sister-in-law, Gloria Giese; brothers-in-law, Al Williams, Art Pinke, Howard Schnarr, Albert Schnarr and Arnold Schnarr (Dorothy).

    Friends and relatives were invited to the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, for visitation on Tuesday, October 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m.

    The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 (today) at 11:30 a.m. at St. Agnes RC Church, 75 Bluevale St. N., Waterloo.

    Interment at St. Agatha RC Cemetery, St. Agatha.

    A reception will follow the interment in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.

    As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society and may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.
