    DOHERTY, Mrs. Sylvia

    Peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 17, 1994, at Chateau Gardens, Elmira, Sylvia Mary (Goetz) Doherty, in her 91st year, of Elmira. Beloved wife of the late Aloysius Doherty (1974). Loving mother of Gladys Doherty of Elmira. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Kimberly and Peter VanWiechen, Brenda and Paul Reilly, all of London, Ont. and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katelyn and Jordan VanWiechen, Allish and Ian Reilly and son-in-law, Joseph Brennan and his wife Marvenna of London. Also survived by a munber of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one daughter, Evelyn Brennan (1977); sister, Marcella Harrison and brother, Joseph Goetz. Sylvia was a member of the CWL of St. Teresa of Avila Church, Carmelite Guild and a Promoter of the League of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for over 50 years. Visitation at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., then to St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, Flamingo Drive, Elmira for funeral mass at 10: 30 a.m., with Father Tim Uniac, CR, officiating, followed by interment in St. Teresa's Cemetery.

    DOHERTY, Gladys Catherine

    At Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Friday, March 26, 2010 in her 86th year. Gladys Doherty of Elmira is the beloved aunt of Kim VanWiechen and her husband Peter and Brenda Reilly and her husband Paul all of London, and great-aunt of Matthew, Katelyn and Jordan VanWiechen and Ailish and Ian Reilly. She was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Brennan (1977) and her parents Aloysius and Sylvia Doherty. Gladys was a faithful member of St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, where she was a member of the CWL and the choir. She was a retired employee of Uniroyal Chemical after 35 years of service. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, on Monday from 1: 30-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Monday, at 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church with interment to follow in St. Teresa Cemetery, Elmira.
