Leis.- Barbara, died at Tavistock, Ont., May 28, 1985; aged 98 y. She was married to Christian Leis, who preceded her in death. Surviving are 4 sons (Daniel, Millis, Oscar, and Elton), 3 daughters (Aleda-Mrs. Wilfred Bender, Katie-Mrs. Leander Ramseyer, and Violet), 34 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by one daughter (Emma-Mrs. Sylvester Baer), one brother (Joel), 2 stepbrothers (Daniel and Jacob), and one stepsister (Mrs. Katie Ruby). Funeral services were held at East Zorra Mennonite Church on May 31, in charge of Gordon Bauman and Henry Yantzi; interment in East Zorra Cemetery.

Baer.--Emma Melinda, daughter of Christian E. and Barbara (Swartzentruber) Leiss, was born in Oxford Co., Ont., Oct. 4, 1909; passed away, after a ten-day illness, Nov. 12, 1947; aged 38 y. 1 m. 7 d. Death resulted from pneumonia and heart trouble. She was baptized in 1924 and remained a member of the church until death. On Sept. 5, 1935, she was united in marriage to Sylvester Baer, of Waterloo Co., who survives. Also surviving are 6 children (Clare, Wilfred, Paul, Elva, Selma, and Elton), her parents, one grandmother (Mrs. Mattie Leiss, Wellesley, Ont.), 4 brothers (Daniel, Millbank, Ont.; Millus and Oscar, Tavistock, Ont.; and Elton at home), and 3 sisters (Aleda--Mrs. Wilfrid J. Bender, Katie--Mrs. Leander Ramseyer, of Tavistock; and Violet, at home). She was much concerned for the physical and spiritual welfare of her children. Funeral services were held Nov. 15 at the home and at the East Zorra A.M. Church, Tavistock, in charge of David Schwartzentruber, D. S. Jutzi, Andrew Jantzi, and Curtis Cressman. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs.Sylvester Baer, 38, of East Zorra, died at a London hospital Wed. morning after an illness of a week, death following a heart attack brought on by pneumonia. She was the former Emma Melinda Leiss, a d/o Mr. and Mrs.Christian E. Leiss, East Zorra, and was born in South Easthope Oct. 4,1909. She married Mr. Baer in 1935, and had resided in East Zorra since that time. Mrs. Baer was a member of the East Zorra Amish Mennonite Church, 16th line.

Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by six children; Clare 10, Wilfred 8, Paul 5, Elva 3, Selma 2, and Elton, three months; fourbrothers, Daniel, Millbank; Millis, South Easthope; and Oscar and Elton,East Zorra; and three sisters, Mrs. Wilfred Bender and Mrs. LeanderRamseyer, East Zorra and Miss Violet, with her parents....East ZorraAmish Mennonite Cemetery....")
