Kitchener-raised William Needles talented actor, generous mentor

KITCHENER - Kitchener-raised William Needles was a talented actor on stage, but being in the spotlight was just the start of his lifelong passion for the theatre.

"He loved the community of the theatre," said his son, Dan Needles. "That was his world."

Needles, one of Canada's best known Shakespearean actors, died Tuesday in an Alliston hospice after suffering a heart attack in December. He was 97.
