MRS. MARIETTA MARTIN

Mrs. Marietta Martin, widow of the late Rev. Jesse Martin, died at her late residence, 28 Onward Ave., about 9: 30 Sunday morning following an extended illness. Deceased was a native of Waterloo Township, born Sept. 27. 1870, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wahl. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church, this city. She is survived by two sons, Lloyd Martin, Kitchener and Anson Martin, Kenmore, N.Y., and three daughters, Mrs. Jacob (Ada) Rudy, Waterloo; Miss Annette Martin, R.N., Guelph and Mrs. Earl (Orkney) Toman, Preston. Two brothers, Dr. Harry Wahl, Kitchener and Soloman E. Wahl, Breslau, one sister, Mrs. Simon Snyder, Bridgeport, and eight grandchildren, also survive her. The funeral will be held from her late residence, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. J. B. Martin, Waterloo, officiating and at three o'clock from Snyder Mennonite Church, Bloomingdale, where the services will be conducted by Rev. H. Stevanus. Burial will take place at Bloomingdale Cemetery. The remains will rest at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 10 o'clock Tuesday morning when removal will be made to the residence, Onward Ave.

Suddenly, at her residence in New Dundee, on Friday, June 9, 2000, Orkney Hill, formerly of RR# 1, Preston. She was born in Bloomingdale, 88 years ago, a daughter of the late Rev. Jesse G. and Marietta (Wahl) Martin. Orkney had been employed as a receptionist in Psychiatry, at the K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, for ten years. She was a member of Olivet United Church, Kitchener. Orkney had served on the committee of Wilmot Home Support and the New Dundee Senior's Club. She loved the outdoors, enjoying cross country skiing and camp fires, with her family and hiking, swimming, canoeing and motor boating with her grandson Brad. Orkney was also a cat lover and her pal Toby, was by her side daily. She was a great lady with style and grace and always had a gleam in her eye. She will be remembered dearly by all her family. There was only one "Orkney". Beloved wife of Earl Toman, who she married in 1939 and who predeceased her in 1958 and Addison Hill, who she married in 1962 and who predeceased her in 1964. Loving mother of Nancy Toman (formerly Mrs. David Main) of Elmira and Mary Ann and her husband Dieter Lenz of RR 1, New Hamburg; lovingly remembered by grandson, Brad and his wife Maggie Main and great-granddaughter, Haley Marie Main. Orkney was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Lloyd and Alice Martin and Anson and Margaret Martin, Annetta and Alfred Connors and Ada and Jacob Ruby. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. Private family burial will be held at Preston Park Lawn Cemetery, Cambridge.

JOANNE RUDY

Passed peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the age of 72.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Ernst Rogi, her parents Kenneth and Ruth.

Dear sister of Karen MacLeod (Neil), Norman Rudy (Marie), loving aunt to Daniel MacLeod, Jesse Rudy (Michilin), Jill Quin (Sean), Kelly Mayers (Omar), Lesley Rudy and proud great aunt of Alice Quin and Sabella Mayers.
Joanne will be missed by her dear friend Iain Kerr, as well as other family and
friends.

Originally from Elmira, Joanne was a long-time resident of Bath and Kingston and had also lived in Kitchener, Calgary and Toronto.

She was a proud graduate of Wilfred Laurier University.
Joanne was a life long lover of books, skiing, hiking. She was a long time member of the University Womens Club and other Kingston groups.

Friends and family are invited to gather at a memorial to be held Saturday February 25th from 1-4pm at the River Mill Restaurant (2 Cataraqui Street, Kingston).

Donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Diabetes Association, University Women's Foundation or the Land Conservancy for KFLA would be a nice way to honour Joanne.
