Leis.- Amos, son of Christian and Catherine (Lichty) Leis, was born in Wellesley Twp., Ont., July 2, 1892; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Oct. 28, 1967; aged 75 y. 3 m. 26 d. On Oct. 23, 1917, he was married to Nancy Steinman, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Gordon, Leroy, and Omar), 14 grandchildren, and 2 sisters (Sarah-Mrs. Norman Wahl and Kate-Mrs. Daniel Gerber). He was predeceased by 4 brothers. He was a member of the Maple View Church, where funeral services were held Oct. 31, with Alvin Leis and Chris O. Erb officiating.

LEIS, Leroy - Suddenly, on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1992, at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, Leroy Leis, of 76 Henry St., Wellesley. Leroy was born in Wellesley township 71 years. He was a son of the late Amos Leis and the late Nancy Steinman. A member of Maple View Mennonite Church. He had farmed near Kingwood, retiring in 1970. He was also employed at J.M. Schneider Inc. at the Wellesley plant and also with the Ministry of Transportation, retiring six years ago. He was an active member of Wellesley Horticultural Society. Beloved husband of Marion Jantzi-Bender of Wellesley; dear father of Wayne and his wife Joyce Leis of New Hamburg, Wesley and his wife Janice Leis of RR 1, New Hamburg, Willard and his wife Sharon Leis of RR 1, Wellesley and Donna McTavish of Wellesley; step-father of Elaine and her husband Henry Schuller of Brantford, Raymond and his wife Bonnie Bender of Wellesley, Sharon and her husband James Brown of New Dundee, Ronald and his wife Christine Bender of Waterloo; dear brother of Omer and his wife Erma Leis of Wellesley; sister-in-law of Mrs. Marie Leis of Wellesley. Lovingly remembered by 13 grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Vera Gascho (January 6, 1989) and also by one brother, Gordon Leis. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2.4 and 7-9 p.m. Removal will be made on Saturday at 8 a.m. to the Maple View Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 9: 30 a.m. Pastor Victor Dorsch will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the MCC, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy for the late Leroy Leis.
