    Elmira Man Dies From Injuries

    ELMIRA—Elias Wideman, 75, of RR 2, Elmira, died today in K-W Hospital from injuries received yesterday, when he walked into the side of a moving truck, at the main intersection of Elmira. Mr. Wideman was struck by the heavily braced side-view mirror of the truck and suffered serious head injuries and a fractured leg. Glenn Hirons, 19 Young St. E., Waterloo, driver of the truck, told police he saw Mr. Wideman step out from behind a parked car. The driver said he pulled to the left to avoid hitting him.
    BORN IN WOOLWICH
    Mr. Wideman was born in Woolwich Township, a son of the late Menno Wideman and the former Judith Martin. He married the former Lydia Ann Martin who predeceased him in 1939. In 1942 he married the former Hannah Bauman who survives him. Also surviving are seven sons, Edwin. Gordon, Ephraim, Clayton, all of RR 1, Elora; Menno and Abner of RR 2, Elmira: Tilman of RR 2, Wallenstein; four daughters, Mrs. Angus (Mary) Martin and Mrs. Alvin (Wilma) Martin, both of RR 2, Wallenstein; Mrs. Milton (Lydia Ann) Bauman of RR 2. Alma; Mrs. Milton (Erma) Martin of RR 2, West Montrose; a brother, Menno of Waterloo, 57 grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. He was predeceased by a son and a daughter.
    FUNERAL ON MONDAY
    The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor until Monday at 8: 30 a.m., when removal will be made to the home of his son, Abner Wideman, RR 2, Elmira, for funeral services at 1 p.m. EST. Further services will be held at the Elmira Mennonite Meeting House. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

    Martin, Mary ~ Passed away peacefully at her residence, RR 2, Wallenstein, on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at the age of 97 years. Mary (Wideman) Martin was the beloved wife of the late Angus Martin (1999). Dear mother of Lorene and Cleon Martin of Wallenstein, Vernon and Anna of Elmira, Murray and Lucinda of RR 2, Wallenstein, Delton of Elmira, and Florence Martin of Floradale. Grandmother of 25 grandchildren and 95 great-grandchildren. Survived by her brother Ephriam (the late Ruth) Wideman, sisters Erma (the late Milton) Martin and Wilma (the late Alvin) Martin, son-in-law Nathan Showalter, and brother-in-law Milton (Susannah) Bauman. Predeceased by twin sons in infancy, daughter Clara Showalter, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, parents Elias and Lydiann (Martin) Wideman, seven brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. at the home of Murray Martin, 6686 Road 18, RR 2, Wallenstein. A family service will be held at the home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 9 a.m. then to Olivet Mennonite Meeting House for interment and public service.

Loving father of Shelley (Darin Portnoff) of Richmond Hill, Darryl (Cindy Marcella) of Kitchener, and Duane of Waterloo. Dear grandpa of Jacqueline and Ashton Portnoff, Jesse Wideman, and Rachelle and Holly Marcella. Lorne will be missed by his brothers and sisters; Fern Brubacher, Earl (Erma), Marie (Clarence) Weber, Ella (Howard) Brubacher, Glenn (Lorene), Vera (Allen) Gingrich, and David. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Menno and Salema (nee Gingrich) and his brother-in-law Orvie Brubacher.     SHOWALTER, Clara (Martin) Peacefully, passed away, to be with her Lord, on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends. Clara was 69 years old and resided near Drayton, Ontario. She is survived by her husband, Nathan Showalter of Tara. Beloved mother of Kenneth Showalter of Millbank, Rosemarie Van Pelt (Kevin) of Columbiana, Ohio, Elaine Shank (Joe) of Amelia, Virginia, Gerald Showalter of Guelph, Joycelyn Showalter of Elmira, and Glenn Showalter of Bancroft. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Mary Martin (late Angus); two sisters, Lorene Martin (Cleon) and Florence Martin; three brothers, Vernon Martin (Anna), Murray Martin (Lucinda) and Delton Martin; fourteen grandchildren; and her mother-in-law, Mary Showalter (late Aaron) of Tennessee. She was a member of Calvary Conservative Mennonite Church. She was predeceased by her father, Angus Martin; twin brothers in infancy; and an infant grandson, Bradley Shank.
