    DEATH OF MRS. SIMON SCHEDEWITZ SUDDEN-DUE TO HEART FAILURE

    Extremely sudden was the death of Mrs. Simon Schedewitz, of Floradale, who was found dead in her bed yesterday morning by members of her family. When she retired for the night Tuesday evening she seemed to be enjoying her usual health, but it is thought that heart failure set in during the night and caused her death without even awakening her. Though she had never been ill, she had been troubled with her heart for some time. Her death has come as a great shock to the community.

    Born in 1854 in Germany, the late Mrs. Schedewitz came to this country when three years of age, accompanying her parents Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Zinkann, who settled in Wellesley township. She continued to live there until her marriage to Mr. Schedewitz, when they settled in Woolwich township. Two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Schedewitz moved to Floradale, selling their farm about five miles north east of Elmira.

    Besides her husband, the late Mrs. Schedewitz leaves eight children as follows: John, of Bridgeport; Mrs. Cole, of Kitchener; Mrs. Hewson, of Woolwich; George, of Bridgeport; Mrs. Winfield, of Kitchener; Charles of Pilkington; and Henry of Floradale.

    The funeral takes place on Saturday afternoon from the residence at Floradale. Services will also be held at St. Paul's Church, Elmira, and thence to the Elmira Union Cemetery.

    MRS. JAMES COLE

    The death of Mrs. James Cole occurred suddenly at her home, 1361 King street east yesterday, as a result of a heart attack. Mrs. Cole was born in Peel township on December 4, 1881. She is survived by her hnriband, one son and three daughters, the children being James Jr., at home, Mrs. Gordon Kewley, Kitchener, Miss Delphine Cole at home and Miss Reta Cole at home. There are four brothers, John Schedewitz, Bridgeport, Charles, George and Henry Schedewitz, all of Kitchener: three sisters, Mrs. Gordon Hughson of Ayr, Mrs. Albert Warner and Mrs. Oscar Miller, both of Kitchener. The funeral will he held private, from the home, 1361 King street east, at two o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, with public services at 2.30 o'clock at St. Matthew's Lutheran church of which the deceased was a member. Interment will be made in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery. The remains will rest at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until tomorrow evening, when they will be taken to the residence.

    Mrs. Gordon Hughson Passes

    A resident of Drumbo for many years, Mrs. Gordon Hughson, 75, passed away on Friday in K-W Hospital where she had been confined for the past six years.

    The former Mary Schedewitz, she was born in Peel Township, a daughter of the late Simon Schedewitz and Elizabeth Zinkann. She came to Ayr as a young woman to accept employment as a cook at the Queens Hotel. Following her marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hughson lived here for many years before moving to Drumbo some 20 years ago.

    Besides her husband, she is survived by a brother, Charles, and a sister, Mrs. Emily Warner, both of Kitchener.


    The Funeral

    Funeral service was conducted on Monday at the Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener, by Rev. L. E. Wentzlaff of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Kitchener. Interment was made in Union Cemetery, Elmira.

    Clarence Schedewitz - A resident of the Bridgeport area for the past 50 years, Clarence W. Schedewitz, 54, of Lexington Road, Bridgeport, died suddenly Wednesday at his home after a heart seizure.

    Born in Floradale, May 19, 1906, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Schedewitz.

    He was employed at the Canada Skate Manufacturing Company.

    Survivors include his wife, the former Henrietta Iza, whom he married in Kitchener in 1927; one son, William of Bridgeport; three daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Margaret) Battler of RR 2, Kitchener, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Binkle of Bridgeport, Mrs. Ted (Joan) Micher of Kitchener; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Stumpf and Mrs. Hilda Iza of Bridgeport, and 19 grandchildren.

    The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm, by Rev. Ralph Huras of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport. Burial will be in Bridgeport Memorial Cemetery.

God gave our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother the time she needed to see and speak with each one of us before He said come home. Margaret leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Clifford Battler. Much loved Mom to Joan, Karen (Rick) Clayfield, Douglas (Sharon), Russell (Debbie), Ronald, Judy (Daniel) Yearwood, Thomas (fiancée Toni), John (Peggy). Special mom to grandson, Donald Wickie and his wife Shirley; much loved great-grandma to their son, Joshua. Cherished grandma to twenty grandchildren with whom she left wonderful memories that they will treasure forever. Special great-grandma to fifteen great-grandchildren. Margaret's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy to her and brought much happiness into her life. Sister of William (Bill) Schedewitz, who brought a smile to Margaret's face when he whispered in her ear "Hi Toots", a name he called Margaret from their childhood days. Predeceased by her parents, Clarence Schedewitz and Henrietta Iza; two sisters, Betsy Binkle and Joan Micher. Margaret's wish was to be cremated. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Margaret with her family in the chapel at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, on Wednesday March 3, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Michael Chow.
