MRS. JONAS B. MARTIN

Mrs. Jonas B. Martin, 90, died Sun-day at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alvin Martin, R.R. 3, Waterloo, after a short illness. A daughter of the late Jonathan Sittler and Barbara Kinzie she was born at Waterloo Township, Sept. 6, 1862.

On November 11, 1880 she married the late Noah Bauman who died in 1897. Her second marriage to Jonas Martin, who predeceased her in 1937, took place in 1898.

Surviving are two sons, Norman and Amos, both of Elmira; four daughters, Mrs. Amos B. (Alvina) Martin, West Montrose; Mrs. Oliver (Susannah) Shantz, Mrs. Amsey (Sarah) Martin, both of Wallenstein; and Mrs. Alvin F. (Leah) Martin, R.R. 3, Waterloo; one sister, Mrs. Menno Martin, Woolwich Township; two brothers, Joseph, of Alberta, and Noah, Waterloo. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grand-children. Two daughters and one step-son predeceased her.

The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Home until Tuesday when removal was made to the home of her son Amos S. Martin, R.R. 1, Elmira, where a service was held at 9 a.m. Wednesday followed by a service at the Elmira Mennonite Meeting House. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

MARTIN, Cecil - Peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Cecil Martin, in his 68th year, of Elmira.

Beloved brother of Erla and Oscar Weber of St. Jacobs, Homer and Melinda Martin of RR1, Elmira. Fondly remembered by his niece Valerie and Norman Catlos, two nephews, Rodney and Karen Martin, Geoffrey and Laurie Martin and great nieces and nephews, Alex, Erika and Natalie, Amanda, Tori and Meghan, Scott and Kate.

Predeceased by his parents, Amos S. and Magdalena Martin. The family .will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A family interment will be held at the Elmira Mennonite Cemetery on Sunday, February 13, 2005. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church, 160 Lancaster St. E., Kitchener on Sunday, February 13 at 3 p.m., with Pastor Don Smith officiating.

Weber. - Marian Weber, only daughter of Tilman and Magdalena Weber, of Bridgeport, Ont., was born Sept. 18, 1890; died Feb. 1, 1929; aged 38 y. 4 m. 14 d. She was converted when a young girl and united with the Mennonite Church to which faith she remained steadfast until death. She is survived by her father and two brothers, Amos and Urias. Her mother died when she was quite small. She was a dutiful and affectionate daughter and sister and quite early in life took her mother's place in the home. She underwent an operation for goitre which proved fatal the following day. About 20 years ago during a severe sickness she was privileged to have a glimpse into the supernatural realm and saw her mother with the angels. The angels told her they would come again. During the last hours of her life, she had a similar vision, but this time the angels told her that she could go along. Her last words were "I am going home," and her spirit quietly slipped away to be with Jesus, her mother, and the holy angels. Her life and testimony have left a profound impression on all those who knew her. Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, Ont., on Feb. 4, 1929, conducted by Bros. C. F. Derstine, S. F. Coffman and pastor Wing. Text, Isa. 40: 1; Psa. 23: 4. Interment in the cemetery adjoining, beside her mother.

Martin. - Elam S., son of Mrs. Menno S. and the late Menno Martin, was born in Woolwich Twp., Ont., April 18, 1896; died at his home, by his own hand, March 14, 1948; aged 51 y. 10 m. 25 d. On Feb. 20, 1924, he was united in marriage to Elmina Lichty, who survives. Also surviving are 6 children (Vernon, Vera, Lorna, Mabel, Curtis, and Willis, all at home), his aged mother, 2 sisters (Mrs. Israel Bearinger, Elmira, Ont.; and Mrs. Absalom Frey, Linwood, Ont.). In his youth he united with the Mennonite Church, remaining a member until death. Funeral services were conducted at the St. Jacobs Mennonite Church on March 17, with Roy S. Koch in charge, assisted by Jesse B. Martin. Interment was made in the Conestoga Cemetery.

He was predeceased in November 1998 by his wife of 46 years, Minerva (Hoffman, Bauman, Scheifele). Alma Man, 43 Fatally Injured In 2-Car Crash

Vernon Martin, 43, of Alma, died Dec. 31 in K-W Hospital of injuries received in a two-car crash near Elora the day before. Mr. Martin's car was in collision with another vehicle driven by Harold Drimmie of Elora. Mr. Martin was taken first to hospital in Fergus. He was later transferred to the K-W Hospital where he died following an operation. He was the son of Mrs. Elam Martin and the late Mr. Martin, RR 1, Waterloo. He was born in Woolwich Township and was a member of Floradale Mennonite Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Eileen Gingrich; four sons, Kenneth 11, Frederick 9, Brian 8, and Rodney 4, and one daughter, Kristine 12; two brothers, Curtis of St. Jacobs and Willis of Kitchener; three sisters, Mrs. Willis (Vera) weber of Guernsey, Sask., Mrs. Floyd (Lorna) Shantz of Seaforth and Mrs. Mabel Snyder, RR 1, Waterloo. The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral parlor in Elmira until Wednesday noon, when removal was made to Floradale Mennonite Church. The committal service took place in the adjoining cemetery with memorial services in the church. Rev. Gerald Good officiated.

Cherished grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Will be missed by her siblings, Vera Weber, Lorna Shantz, Curtis (Ruth) Martin, Willis (Eva) Martin, sisters-in-law Eileen Martin, Beatrice Snyder, Naomi Sauder, brother-in-law Vernon Sauder, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Elam and Elmina (Lichty) Martin, first husband Orville Snyder (1963), sons Darcy Snyder and Timothy Snyder, stepson Gerald Sauder, and brother Vernon Martin. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, 1308 King St. N., St. Jacobs. A private family interment in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery will take place prior to the service. She was a long-time employee of the Globe Furniture Company, a volunteer with the K-W Poppy Fund and spent many hours playing cards with friends and enjoyed seniors activities and traveling with SABLE.
