    The death occurred very suddenly on Saturday evening of George John Class at his home on Centre street, Elmira. The deceased had been in apparent good health until Saturday afternoon when he was stricken with hemorrhage due to high blood, pressure, which caused his death. Mr. Class was 50 years of age and was a son of Mrs. John Class of Preston and the late Mrs. He was born in Woolwich and moved to Elmira when quite a young man. Surviving are his widow one son Carl, his mother three brothers , Edward, William and Jacob of Kitchener and one sister Mrs. Emmanuel Snyder, Blachie, Alta. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock from his late residence to St. Paul's Lutheran Church where service was conducted by his pastor, the Rev. F. Malinsiky. Interment took place In Elmira cemetery.

    The pall-bearers were members of the local fire brigade, of which the deceased was a Member, Messrs. C. Mattusch, C. Playford, E. Hoffner, Albert Finch, Harry Weichel, G. Klinck

    Notes:

    Harry Class (1916-2011) was an exceptional Canadian diver and influential member of the community of Kitchener. In 1934, at the British Empire Games in London, Class won a bronze medal in diving. During the Second World War, he joined the Canadian Army Intelligence Corp and went overseas where he took part in diving exhibitions. After the war, Class settled in Hamilton and worked his way up to chief executive officer of Mrs. Smith's Frozen Pies. He retired in 1978 and returned to Kitchener where he served as president and coach of the YMCA swim team. Remarkably, at the age of 72, Class returned to competitive swimming and won 16 Canadian championships and set 16 records in the 70-74 age group. At the age of 75, he competed across North America and in Europe, winning 50 gold medals, four silver and four bronze. Woodside Pool, where Class developed his swimming and diving skills, was renamed in his honour in 1992.

    Harry had joined the Canadian Army Intelligence Corp and was sent to Britain.

    Hall of Fame - Waterloo Region:
    Harry Class was born in Kitchener where he received his swimming and diving training at the YMCA under the supervision of Harold Ballantyne and Tommy Armour.

    In 1932 he won the Canadian Junior three-meter Diving Championship and was the Canadian Senior Men's three meter Diving Champion in 1935, 1936, 1938, and 1943. In 1935 he won the Canadian Senior Men's one meter Diving Championship. In addition, he was a member of the 150-yard medley relay team that broke the Canadian record by four seconds in 1938.

    At the British Empire Games in London, England, in 1934, he won a Bronze Medal for Canada in the three-meter diving event. Along with his Canadian Championship in 1936, he won the Canadian Olympic Trials in three meter diving at Montreal.

    Class won many other Provincial and YMCA swimming and diving championships, and also is a member of the Toronto Granite Club Hall of Fame and the Hamilton Aquatic Club Hall of Fame.

    CLASS, Fred -- At Sarasota, Fla., on Saturday, Jan. 27 1990, in his 70th year, Fred Class, of Mill Street, Kitchener. Had owned and operated Class Pool Supply Limited starting in 1950 and was the first swimming pool supply and maintenance company in Canada. Fred had been a badminton pro at the K-W Granite Club and was a long time member of Rockway Golf and Country Club. He had served during the Second World War with the Canadian Navy as a Lieutenant. Husband of the former Jean Griffin; father of James, Sandra and her husband David Gowing, all of Kitchener; brother of Harry and his wife Helen of Kitchener. Four grandchildren, Tory, Tim, Stefanie and Chris also survive. Predeceased by his parents, Ed Class and Lily Hahn. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2: 30 p.m. from the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home Chapel, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, with Pastor Harold Brill officiating.

    CLASS, Duncan Edward Born Tuesday December 24, 1946, Duncan passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the age of 69 years. Beloved husband of Margaret Boyle. Duncan is predeceased by his mother Helen (Hirons) Class in 1991, his brother Philip Class in 2003 and his father Harry Class in 2011. He will be fondly remembered by the Hirons, Richber, Boyle and Class families.
