    Mr. George M. Schwindt, age 77, of Elmira died on Monday, Sept. 25, at the Elmira Private Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Woolwich Twp., Jan. 30, 1890, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Schwindt.

    He farmed in the N. Woolwich District until he retired in 1952 and moved to Elmira. He was a member of Zion E.U.B. Church, Elmira.

    Surviving are his wife the former Marion Miller, six sons, Homer, Arnold and Ward of Elmira; Rev. Floyd of High Prairie, Alberta; Rev. Bruce of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba; Howard of Grand Prairie, Alberta. Three daughters, Mrs. Lorne (Melba) Martin, Elmira; Mrs. Vernon (Eileen) Gingrich of Elmira and Mrs. Walter (Susan) Holst, Waterloo. Three sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Luella) Feil and Mrs. Philip (Florence) Sippel of Dearborn, Mich., and Mrs. Norman (Emma) Koch, Waterloo. Two brothers, Edmund of North Woolwich, Andrew of Salem also twenty-nine grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother predeceased her.

    The body will be at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlour. The service will be in the chapel today (Wednesday) at 2:30. Burial in N. Woolwich E.U.B. Cemetery. Rev. M.E. Reuber will officiate.

    Notes:

    Peacefully went home to be with his Lord at Heritage House, St. Jacobs on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the age of 94 years. Homer was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia (Weber) Schwindt (November 26, 2011). Lovingly remembered by his son Larry Schwindt and his foster son Paul Quenneville both of Elmira. Brother of Bruce and Kay Schwindt of Courtney, B.C., Susan Holst of Waterloo, Eileen and Vern Gingrich of Elmira, and brother-in-law of Lorne Martin of Elmira and Marion Schwindt of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Marion (Miller) Schwindt, his brothers Arnold, Floyd, Ward, and Howard, and sister Melba Martin. Homer was a very active member of the Floradale Mennonite Church, having been a deacon for a number of years. He was asked to ring the bell leading the procession from the old sanctuary into the new foyer. In 1985 he received the Elmira Citizen of the year award for providing a welcome and safe place for many of the town children to play. Homer also served on the board of directors for the Association for the Mentally Challenged. He was very involved in, and was instrumental in organizing. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Floradale Mennonite Church on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Interment to take place at Floradale Mennonite Cemetery at a later date. In his memory, donations to FIDA, MCC or the building fund of Floradale Mennonite Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.

    Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Innisfree House, Kitchener on Monday October 8, 2018, at the age of 86.

    Dear mother of Debbie (Henry), Fred (Carol), Doug (Lori) and Linda (Paul).

    Loving grandma of Brent and Andrea, John and Steven, Dustin, Tanner and Taylor, Laura and Jennifer. Survived by 5 great grandchildren.

    Also survived by a sister Eileen Gingrich, sister-in-law Marion Schwindt and brother-in-law Lorne Martin.

    Remembered by sisters-in-law Grace, Ellen and Mae Holst and Joanna Ropp.

    Predeceased by her husband Walter Holst in 1973, and daughter Gwendolyn in infancy, sister Melba and brothers Homer, Arnold, Floyd, Bruce, Ward and Howard.

    Susan was a member of W-K United Mennonite Church in Waterloo; a retired employee with Grand River Hospital for over 25 years.

    Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Susan with her family during visitation on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo.

    The Memorial Service to celebrate her life and faith will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 3p.m. with Pastor Ben Cassels officiating. Cremation has taken place.
