MRS. JACOB STEFFLER.

There passed away at her home here on Sunday morning Magdalena Miller, beloved wife of Mr. Jacob Steffler. Deceased was born in Woolwich township on January 21st, 1848, and was married to her now sorrowing husband on October 25th, 1870. To them were born 6 children, namely, Louisa, who was married to Christian Ziegler and died in 1908; Mary Ann (Mrs. John L. Ziegler), Guelph, Laura, who died when six years old; Emma (Mrs. Chas. F. Roehr), Berlin; Enoch, of Berlin,; Lincoln, at home. Eleven grandchildren also survive the deceased. The family lived for some years on a farm about 4 miles southeast of Elmira. After several changes of habitation they finally came to Elmira in 1904 and have lived here ever since. Mrs. Steffler was a quiet, friendly neighbor and a kind and loving wife and mother. She had been ailing for about six weeks but was able to be up until a couple of days befom her death. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Charles F. Roehr, 87, of 140 Talbot St., formerly of Dekay Street, died Saturday at K-W Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 20, 1878, in Woolwich Township she had resided in Kitchener for 63 years. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Steffler. He husband predeceased her in March 1965. Surviving are one son, Gordon of East Palatka, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Rita) Oberholtzer, Kitchener, and one grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by three sisters, two brothers and one daughter in infancy. The body is at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held at 2: 30 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. A.A. Schweitzer of St. Mark's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Enoch P. Steffler, 82, of 184 Brandon Ave., died Sunday at K-W Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Woolwich Township, she was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Steffler. A Kitchener resident for 60 years, he was employed at J.M. Schneider Ltd. For over 30 years and retired 10 years ago. He was a member of the firm's 25-Year Club and the Golden Age Group. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. His wife, the former Annie Schlender, died in 1955. Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy and Mrs. Peter (Vearl) Ernest, and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Roehr, all of Kitchener; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Reginald, died in 1958 and another son, Irvin, died in infancy. One brother, Lincoln and two sisters also predeceased him. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be conducted at 3: 30 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. A.J. Baetz. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

LINCOLN L. STEFFLER

A resident of Elmira for 45 years, Lincoln L. Steffler, 62 died suddenly at his home Friday night following a heart attack.

Born in Woolwich Township, Feb. 6, 1887, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Steffler. He was an employee of the Great West Felt Co., Elmira.

Mr. Steffler was a member of St. James's Lutheran Church, Elmira, and the L.O.O.F. No. 216, Elmira.

In addition to his wife, surviving are three sons, Norman and Ralph, Elmira, and Harold, Toronto; one daughter, Mrs. John (Marie) Hickey, Galt.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Charles Roehr, Kitchener, and one brother, Enoch, Kitchener.

The funeral service was held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Chapel. Burial was in St. James's Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. L. H. Kalbfleisch officiated.

Rita was a long time member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where she served in the Nursery and as a Sunday School Teacher. Special thanks to the staff of Columbia Forest for their care over the past three years and to St. Mark's Church Congregation for their visits and prayers. Rita's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Kitchener man, Reginald Steffler, 46, of 101 Fourth St., was killed today in an automobile accident at Orangeville. Provincial Police said Mr. Steffler had spent the night at the cottage of a friend, George Thompson in Orangeville. The exit from the property includes a laneway on a steep incline with a gate halfway up the hill.

Car Brakes Slip

Police said Mr. Steffler stopped the car after passing though the gate and then walked behind the car to close the gate. At this moment the brakes of the car clipped and the vehicle shot backwards, knocking Mr. Staffler to the ground and dragging him 10 feet. He was dead when found. A salesman for Bond Hardware Company Ltd., Guelph, Mr. Steffler previously operated a hardware store in Kingsdale for 10 years

Family Survives

A native of Kitchener, he is survived by his father, Enoch Steffler of Kitchener, his wife, the former Alberta Widmeyer, three sons, Murray of London, Ont., Dale and Barry of Kitchener, and a daughter, Caroline, also of Kitchener. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy, and Mrs. Peter (Vearle) Ernst, both of Kitchener. The body is at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, Kitchener, pending funeral arrangements. An inquest will be held in Orangeville on Wednesday.

Funeral for Reginald Stauffer, 46, of 101 Fourth St., will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home. Rev. Karl Knauff will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Mr. Steffler, who was killed when his car crushed him Tuesday at Orangeville, attended St. Luke's Lutheran Church and was a member of Twin City Lodge, AF and AM.
