Dies in K.-W. Hospital Six Hours After Tumble in Orchard Where He Was Pruning Trees

FUNERAL WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Victim Was Only 38 Years Old; Raised In District; Wife and Two Children Survive

Milton Lasch, 38, suffered fatal injuries when he fell from a tree in the orchard of his farm about 1 ½ miles northeast of Elmira on Tuesday. Engaged in pruning trees, Mr. Lasch fell a distance of only ten or twelve feet, but evidently landed on his head on the frozen ground, suffering injuries described as a fracture at the base of the skull and two fractures of the spine.

Mr. Lasch tumbled from the tee about 9.45 a.m., and was rushed to the K.-W. Hospital, where he succumbed about six hours later. He never regained consciousness.

The news of the tragic accident came as a distinct shock to his many friends and acquaintances in Elmira and vicinity. Mr. Lasch was raised in the immediate district and was a highly respected resident. Born in Floradale, he was the son of the late Ezra Lasch and Mrs. Lasch. He came to Elmira with his parents when a young man, residing here until about four years ago. He moved to Mr. Casper Stumpf's farm in Woolwich, the scene of the fatal accident, about a year ago. His father passed away 36 years ago.

Mr. Lasch was married about twelve years ago to Olive Atkinson of Pilkington, who survives with two young daughters, four and six years old. Also surviving are his aged mother and six sisters, Clara, Luella, Norma, and Frieda, all of Elmira and Lydia and Eleanor of Kitchener.

The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon from the home of his mother on Church street to St. Paul's Lutheran church, Elmira, where the late Mr. Lasch was a faithful member. The church service will start at 2.30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Elmira cemetery.
