    MANN, CHARLES LANTHIER “LEN”

    Of Galt, on Friday, September 24, 1971, at the Freeport Hospital, in his 77th year. He was predeceased by his wife, Verda Belle Telfer and is survived by five sons, Clayton of BC; Arnold of R. R. #7, St. Mary’s; Harold of Kitchener; Walter and Gordon, both of Galt; and a daughter, Helene (Mrs. Gairn Gotby) of Galt. Also surviving are three brothers, Robert of West Seneca, NY; Jack of Flesherton and Andrew of Barrie; seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Mann was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Service was held at the Little Funeral Home, 39 Grand Ave. North in Galt at 2: 30 on Tuesday. Service at the Morriston Church at 3: 30. Burial in Crown Cemetery, Morriston. - Previously of Morriston.

    Charles enlisted as a Saddler, Service number 307633 in the 43rd Battery, Canadian Expeditionary Force at Guelph, Ontario on 29 Dec 1915. He served in 16th Battery C.F.A. in France and was discharged from the service by reason of demobilization on 25 May 1919 in London, Ontario.

    Charles married Verda Belle Telfer 1 Sep 1920, Guelph City, Wellington Co., Ontario, Canada. Verda was born 27 Jan 1899, Morriston, Puslinch Twp., Wellington Co., Ontario, Canada; died 10 Jul 1969, Galt (Cambridge), Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada; was buried 12 Jul 1969, Crown Cemetery, Puslinch Township, Wellington Co., Ontario.     Peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, February 16, 2006, of Woodstock, in her 78th year. Wife for fifty-eight years of Gavin Gotby. Mother of Linda McLean and her husband, Donald of Woodstock. Grandmother of Melissa MacFarlane (Hobbs) and her husband, Jamie MacFarlane of Cambridge; Natasha Petrik and her husband, Michael of Woodstock; Marylou McLean of Listowel; and Jennifer McLean of London. Great-grandmother of Connor and Tyson. Sister of Clayton Mann (Ruth) of BC; Arnold Mann (Helene) of St. Mary's; Walter Mann of Waterloo; Gordon Mann (Joan) of Paris; Harold Mann (Sandra) of Kitchener. Aunt of Jean Graham of Cambridge and many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Charles Lanthier "Len" Mann and Verda Belle Telfer and her infant sister, Eileen. Service at the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington St. N. in Woodstock on Tues., Feb. 21 at 1. Interment later at Crown Cemetery at Morriston.
