    Mrs. Adam Douglas - The death occurred, after a lingering illness, on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, of Mrs. Adam Douglas, a highly esteemed resident of this village. Deceased, whose maiden name was Margaret Lake, was born near Glenmorris, her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lake, being among the early settlers in that section. She was married some 37 years ago and settled with her husband in Ayr. They later removed to a farm in Blenheim for a period of 11 years, after which they returned to Ayr some 11 years ago. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church, taking an active interest in the different women's organizations of the congregation. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Clare, and one daughter, Mrs. F. H. Dunn of Walkerville; also by two sisters and three brothers, viz.: Mrs. James Cowan and Mrs. A. McPhail, Galt James Lake, Galt; Thomas Lake, Cedar Creek, and Andrew Lake, Puslinch. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon and was very largely attended. Friends were present from near and far, including the following distant points, viz.: Detroit, Wingham, Hamilton, London, Mount Forest and Burford. The service at the residence was in charge of Rev. Patterson Hall of Galt, assisted by Rev. W. F. McConnell of Paris and Mr. Dowdy of Ayr. During the service Rev. Hall sang the solo, "There is a Green Hill," with much feeling. At the graveside the service was jointly conducted by Rev. John Taylor of India, a cousin of the deceased, who is at present home on furlough, and Rev. Taylor Munro of Kitchener. The pallbearers were: Andrew Taylor and William Taylor, Paris; Andrew G. Laurie, Andrew E. Laurie, William Bain and George Eaton. The funeral service was carried out is expressly desired by the deceased.

    Mrs. F. H. Dunn Passes

    Mrs. F. H. Dunn (Mary Bell Douglas) of Windsor passed away July 24th after a lengthy illness. She was in her 82nd year. She was born in Ayr, only daughter of the late Adam Douglas and Margaret Lake. She was predeceased by her only brother Clare of Ayr in 1961. Survived by her husband Francis Dunn; daughters Ruth (Mrs. H. Wellington) of Windsor, and Mary Frances (Mrs. R. Barber) of Berkley, Michigan and one son Douglas of Markham; also 10 grandchildren. Predeceased by one grandson. Funeral services were held at the Walter Kelly Funeral Home, Windsor. Committal service and burial at the Ayr Cemetery.

    Clare Douglas Passes Suddenly

    The community was shocked on Friday by the sudden death, as a result of a heart attack, of one of its most popular citizens, Clare Douglas. He was in his 62nd year. The late Mr. Douglas was born in Ayr, a son of the late Adam and Margaret Douglas. He farmed in this area all of his life, for the past 27 years on the place at the village's northern outskirts. In former years he was a noted breeder of horses which took many awards at district fairs and shows. Mr. Douglas was noted for his warm, cheerful disposition and was a welcome figure at many social events. He was a member of Knox United Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Mae Jean Huson; and two daughters, Mrs. George (Shirley) Mitchell, RR 3, Ayr and Marilyn at home. A sister, Mrs. Francis (Marybelle) Dunn of Windsor also survives. The Funeral service was held from his late residence on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. J. V. Buchanan. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles A. Bain, Erb Clark, Thomas Robson, Erie Sharp, William G. Edgar and Dr. J. H. Caulfield, all of this community.
