    SHANTZ, Cameron Gillis - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Sunday, August 28, 2005, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. Cam resided in New Hamburg and was formerly of Plattsville. He was born 83 years ago on June 14, 1922 in Plattsville, a son of the late Abiah Bingeman Shantz and the former Myra Della Cressman. Cam was a member of Plattsville United Church and was active in the Plattsville Community. He had been the village Postmaster for 27 years and prior to that was employed as a Tinsmith with Harmer Bros. Cam had served with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 532, New Hamburg. He had been the Past President of both the Canadian and Ontario Percheron Associations. He was a master breeder, showman and judge of Percheron horses. Cam was a talented artist enjoying both drawing and copper tooling. Survived by his wife Marjorie (Brown) Shantz who he married August 18, 1943. Loving father of Judith and Bob Kobe of Bracebridge and Jane and Ross Eichler of New Hamburg. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Jill and Peter McNair, Todd and Erin Kobe, Tracy and Jeff McClenaghan and Amy and Gary Becker. Sadly missed by six great-grandchildren Cameron and Lauren McNair, Austin McClenaghan and Hunter, Rochelle and Hawkins Becker. Also remembered by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Wilma Shantz of London, Purvis Rowe of Ottawa, Jean Brown, Doug and Stella Brown, all of Plattsville, Jack Brown, Helen Brown, both of Norwich and Ken Koebel of Consecon, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Cam was predeceased by brothers Harry and Nile, by sister Jewel, by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dorothy Shantz, Althea Shantz, Pearson Eby, Stewart Ivel, Bill Brown and Phyllis Koebel. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg tonight (Tuesday) from 7: 30-9 p.m. and again Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Woolhead officiating. Reception to follow. Private family interment in Union Cemetery, New Dundee. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Freeport Palliative Complex Care. A Legion Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m.
