Mrs. James Scott

The death occurred at her residence, St. Andrews Avenue, on Sunday afternoon of Mary Elliott, widow of the late James Scott, in her 73rd year. Deceased had been in poor health for the past two years and her demise was not unexpected. Mrs. Scott was born in Beverly township, and had resided in Ayr for almost fifty years, where she had a host of warm friends. She was a member of Knox United Church. Her husband predeceased her some 31 years ago and a son, Rancie, 20 years ago. One daughter, Mrs. George Thomas of Detroit, survives. The funeral was held yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon to Ayr Cemetery.

Mrs. George H. Thomas Passes - A former well known Ayr resident, Mrs. George H. Thomas passed away in Detroit on Friday. The former Agnes Jane Scott, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Scott, and came to the village as a young girl. The family resided on Walter St., for many years. At one time she was organist at the Stanley Street Presbyterian Church. She was married in Ayr to George H. Thomas, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Thomas, formerly of St. Andrews Ave. They left many years ago for Detroit, where Mrs. Thomas had since resided. Her husband and younger son, Dudley, predeceased her some years ago and the elder son, Herbert Scott, died in May, 1965. Funeral service was held in Ayr on Tuesday with interment in Ayr Cemetery.

Herbert Scott Thomas Passes

The death occurred in Detroit on Saturday evening of Herbert Scott Thomas, elder son of Mrs. George H. Thomas of Detroit and the late Mr. Thomas. Parents of the deceased were both former Ayr residents. His mother's maiden name was Agnes Jane Scott. Funeral will take place upon arrival at Ayr Cemetery on Thursday at 1 p.m.
