Gascho. - Christian, eldest son of Bishop John and Barbara (Erb) Gascho, was born near Baden, Ont., March 25, 1857; died at his home in Baden on Saturday evening, Jan. 30, 1943; aged 85 y. 10 m. 5 d. He accepted Christ in his youth and was baptized, united with the Amish Mennonite Church in Ontario, and was a faithful member to his end.Oct. 1, 1878 he was united in holy matrimony to Leah Zehr, near Wellesley, Ont. To this union were born 1 son and 5 daughters (Fannie, Mrs. Jacob B. Iutzi, Baden; Barbara, Mrs. Samuel Steinman, New Hamburg, Ont.; Mattie, Mrs. N. M. Steinman, Baden; Lydia, at home; Emanuel, Kitchener, Ont.; Lovina, Mrs. Sol Myer, who died Nov. 22, 1916).Dec. 10, 1893 he was ordained a Deacon in the Wilmot A. M. Church. Nov. 4, 1894, he was ordained a Minister of the Gospel at the same place, and remained and served in the Lord's vineyard till health failed (49 years).In August 1940, he suffered a very severe heart attack, from which he never fully recovered; and another attack July, 1941. From then on he failed more rapidly, until the early fall of 1942 when he took to his bed, his heart grew weaker and dropsy set in. After 4 months of suffering in bed he entered into rest, free from all sorrow and pain.He leaves his grief-stricken companion (who has been very feeble for a number of years), 1 son, 4 daughters, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 4 brothers and 2 sisters (Menno and John E. Gascho of Baden; David of St. Agatha, Ont.; Daniel of Kalona, Iowa; Mrs. John Steinman of Wellesley, Ont.; Mrs. David Jantzi, Au Gres, Mich.) One daughter, 1 great-granddaughter, 2 brothers and 2 sisters preceded him in death.Funeral services were conducted Feb. 2 at the home by Bro. Menno Wagler, and at the Steinman A. M. One week before his death, when all the children were together, he requested the singing of the song "God Be with You Till We Meet Again." Bro. Peter Nafziger conducted the funeral service. He gradually became more feeble and on Dec. 16 he fell, breaking his hip, which caused his death. Early in life he went to Minnesota where he was employed for some time, then later moved to Kalona, Iowa, in which community he spent the remainder of his life. On Oct. 15, 1903, he was united in marriage to Mary Brenneman, who preceded him in death Sept. 29, 1951. Surviving are 7 children (Katie, John, Roy, and Gladys-Mrs. Walter Ott, all of Wellman, Iowa; Wallace, Kalona, Iowa; Loretta-Mrs. Merton Yoder, Parnell, Iowa; and Cleo, Badger, Iowa), and 20 grandchildren. His parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters preceded him in death. In his youth he united with the Mennonite Church and was a faithful member of the Lower Deer Creek Church at the time of his death. Funeral services were held at the Lower Deer Creek church, Jan. 16, in charge of J. Y. Swartzendruber and Robert K. Yoder.

In failing health the last year, from a heart condition she spent much of her time reading God's Word. Death followed a three-day illness. Funeral services were held Sept. 30 at her home by Ben Gingerich and at the Steiman Church by Peter Nafziger and Moses O. Jantzi. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

She leaves her bereaved companion, 2 sons (William and Lorne, both of Wilmot Twp.), 2 daughters (Fannie--Mrs. David Lichti, on the homestead; and Mary Ann, at home), ten grandchildren, one brother (Pre. Menno Wagler, Baden, Ont.), and 2 sisters (Susanna Gingerich, of Baden; and Rebecca--Mrs. John Bender, of Wilmot). One daughter (Alma) and four grandchildren predeceased her. Funeral services were held at the home by Dan Wagler and at the East Zorra A. M. Church by Nelson Litwiller and Daniel Jutzi. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

On Jan. 10, 1932, he was ordained as deacon and on Dec. 11 of the same year as minister to serve the Wilmot A. M. Church. Married Jan. 7, 1911, to Leah Brenneman, who died Feb. 12, 1924. In January, 1926, he married Sarah Brenneman, who died in June, 1954. Surviving are one son (Clayton), 2 daughters (Elmina-Mrs. Ben Ruby, Tavistock; and Violet-Mrs. Orlando Ruby, New Hamburg), one sister (Mrs. Rebecca Bender), and 13 grandchildren. One son and 2 sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services at Steinman's Church in charge of Peter Nafziger, Orlando Gingerich, and Elmer Schwartzentruber. Burial in church cemetery.

On Saturday May 21, 1983, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Noah Steinmann of Nithview Home, New Hamburg, formerly of Wellesley. Noah was born in Wellesley township, 87 years ago.

He was the son of the late John Steinmann and the late Susanna Gascho; he was a member of the Mapleview Mennonite Church and was a feed merchant in Wellesley, retiring several years ago.

Beloved brother of Enos Steinmann of Kitchener; also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel and by four sisters, Katie and Barbara Steinmann and Mary (Mrs. John Schmidt) and Veronica (Mrs. David Bast).

Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley on Sunday. At noon Monday, May 23, removal was made to the Mapleview Mennonite Church, for the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Alvion Leis, Rev. Glen Jantzi and Rev. Alan Nafziger officiated.

In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Wilmot Amish Mennonite Church, remaining faithful until death. On Sept. 19, 1917, she was united in marriage to Jacob B. Jutzi, who passed away Nov. 28, 1987 [should read 1937]. She was a resident of Baden, Ont., for twenty-five years, later making her home with her daughter (Ada). Surviving are one daughter (Ada - Mrs. Stanley Erb, Tavistock, Ont., 4 stepchildren (Saloma - Mrs. Christ Zehr, Samuel, Emerson, and Alvin, all of Baden, Ont.), 11 grandchildren, 3 sisters (Lydia and Mrs. N. M. Steinman, Baden, Ont.; Mrs. Sam Steinman. New Hamburg, Ont.), one brother (Emanuel, Kitchener, Ont.). Funeral services were held March 22 at the home of her daughter by Joel Swartzentruber and at the Steinman Church, near Baden, by Moses O. Jantzi and Elmer Swartzendruber. Mrs. Fanny Jutzi

BADEN, March 19-The death of Mrs. Fanny Julzi, 69, widow of the late Jacob Jutzi occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stanley Erb, Tavistock, today.

The former Fanny Gascho she was the daughter of the late Rev and Mrs. Christian Gascho and was born Aug. 31, 1879 at Wilmot Township. Her marriage to the late Jacob Jutzi took place in 1917. Mr. Jutzi died 11 years ago

Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Stanley (Ada) Erb, Tavistock; one step-daughter, Mrs Christian (Saloma) Zehr; and three step-sons, Samuel, Emerson and Alvin, all of Baden; and three sisters, Miss Lydia Gascho, Mrs N. M. Steinman, Baden, and Mrs Samuel Steinmann, New Hamburg: and one brother, Emmanuel, Kitchener. Eleven grandchildren also survive.

The body is resting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stanley Erb, where a private service wil be held Tuesday at 1:30 followed by a public service at the Steinmann Mennonite Church, near Baden, at 2:30 p.m. Interment wil be made in the adjoining cemetery.

Mayer.--Lovina Mayer (nee Gascho) was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., May 31, 1890; died at the home of her parents, Christian and Leah Gascho, Nov. 22, 1916, at the age of 26 y. 5 m. 22 d. On Dec. 16, 1913, she united in marriage with Solomon Mayer of Pigeon, Mich., and lived well and happy until Aug., 1915, she took sick and was quite poorly at times. Feb., 1916, she was taken to the Bad Axe Hospital where she spent four long months, and underwent several operations. All through her sufferings she was always patient and had a smile for every one that came to see her and sang many a hymn on her bed of affliction. Her every day text was, "The Lord's will be done." On June 8 she was taken to her home and was slowly gaining, but as lung trouble set in she gradually failed. In November they moved to Canada, where she lived with her parents eight weeks and a half. She expressed herself many a time as willing and ready to meet her Savior. Although our hearts are sad we feel to praise God and rejoice that He has dealt so kindly with her, and has taken her to Himself where she so longed to go. She united with the A. M. Church when quite young and was a faithful member to the end. Before leaving her home in Michigan she longed to partake of the Lord's supper, which was served by Bishop Solomon Schwartzendruber. Funeral services were held at the A. M. Church west of Baden Nov. 25, conducted by Peter Boshart and Christian Litwiller. Text, Rev. 7: 13,14, Dan. 12: 2;3.

Mrs. Moses Erb

WELLESLEY-Mrs. Moses Erb of 76 Brown St. died Friday at her home. She was 73.

The former Mary Steinman was born in Wilmot Township. She was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church and of the church sewing circle.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Alvin of RR 1, Gadshill, Milton of Wellesley, Harold of RR 2, Wellesley; three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Barbara) Paddington of Shakespeare, Mrs. Milton (Eva) Kuepfer of RR 1, Newton, Mrs. Norman (Wilma) Kuepfer of RR 1, Linwood; two brothers, Daniel of Baden, David of New Hamburg; two sisters, Mrs. Amos Leis and Barbara Steiman, both of Wellesley; and 21 grandchildren. Mrs. Erb was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers.

The body is at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home until noon, Monday, when removal will be made to Maple View Church for services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Christian O. Erb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

Mrs. Moses Erb, 73, Wellesley, died Friday at her home.

She was born in Wilmot Township, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Steinman. She was the former Mary Steinman. She was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Alvin, RR l, Gadshill; Milton, Wellesley, Harold, RR 2, Wellesley, three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Barbara Leona) Padington, Shakespeare, Mrs. Milton (Eva) Kuepfer, RR 1, Newton; Mrs. Norman (Wilma) Kuepfer; RR 1, Linwood; two brothers, Daniel, Baden, David, New Hamburg, two sisters, Mrs. Amos (Nancy) Leis, and Miss Barbara, both of Wellesley; 21 grandchildren.

He frequently expressed his readiness to depart this life and be with Christ. However, he expressed the desire to regain his speech so that he tell others the joy of salvation and entreat those who were near and dear to him who know not Christ. Three weeks ago, he became quite sick and gradually became weaker until his end came. God in his mercy peacefully called him home where he will suffer no more. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Bro. Edwin Albrecht and at the Riverside Mennonite Church by Bros. Peter Swartz and Noah Swartzendruber. Interment was in the cemetery near by.

Christian Streicher; dear mother of Orval Lichty of Route 2, Wellesley, Elsie (Mrs. Erven Lebold) of Wellesley, Esther (Mrs. Lorne Roth) of Route 2, Wellesley, and Eleanor (Mrs. Harold Zehr) of Route 3, Elmwood; sister of Menno Jantzi of Au Gres, Mich., Katherine (Mrs. Daniel Schwartz) and Lydia Jantzi, both of Au Gres, Mich., Barbara (Mrs. Samuel Roth) of Baden, Emma (Mrs. Aaron Albrecht) of Standish, Mich.; also survived by 10 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren; predeceased by her first husband Samuel S. Lichty, April 1, 1937; also by one son, one daughter, four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley, where the family will receive friends this evening from 7-9 and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. At noon Thursday, Feb. 28, the remains will be removed to the Maple View Mennonite Church for the service at 2:30, Rev. Steven Gerber officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

LITWILLER, Mrs. Salome
On Sunday, March 3, 1991, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Salome Litwiller, of RR 2, Petersburg.
She was born in Wilmot township 95 years ago, a daughter of the late John Gascho and the former Mary Schultz. She was a member of the Steinmann Mennonite Church, RR 2, Baden, where she was a member of the WMSC. She enjoyed needlework and quilting. She was a lifelong resident of Wilmot township. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Beloved wife of Elmer, Litwiller who predeceased her September 13, 1984. Lovingly remembered by one son, Earl and his wife Mary of RR 2, Petersburg. Dear grandmother of Duane Litwiller and his wife Susan of RR 2, Petersburg, Sheryl and her husband Albert Crabbe of Baden. Fondly remembered by five great-grandchildren, Gregory and Kara Litwiller, Jacqueline, Victoria and Suzanne Crabbe and four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mabel (Daniel) Gascho of Kitchener, Mrs. Ida (Norman) Gascho of New Hamburg, Mrs. Louise (William) Litwiller of Lowville, N.Y. and Elmeda and her husband Henry Bechler of Pigeon, Mich.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel and Norman Gascho and her sisters, Nancy (Mrs. Michael Roth) and Leah (Mrs. Simeon Jutzi).

On March 16, 1915, she was united in marriage to Simeon Jutzi, who survives. She also leaves three sons and one daughter (Rufus, Wallace, Nyle, and Lauretta, all of Kitchener), one grandson, 2 brothers and 2 sisters (Norman and Daniel Gascho, Mrs. Michael Roth, and Mrs. Elmer Litwiller, all of Baden, Ont.). One son (Curtis) predeceased her. She was a member of the Steinman A.M. Church, and in later years fellowshiped with the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. She will be remembered by her abiding faith and by her cheerful patience during eighteen years of illness. She was an inspiration, not only to her own family, but to many others who had contact with her. Funeral services were conducted at the Steinman A. M. Church, in charge of C. F. Mrs. Noah L. Erb The death occurred at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Thursday, June 3, of Mrs. Noah L. Erb, nee Nancy Gascho, of near (Mannheim after serious illness for three weeks. Prior to this she had been in poor health for some time.

The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Gascho of St. Agatha, where she was born 53 years ago. She was married on January 14^th, 1913 to Noah L. Erb, who, besides five sons and two daughters are left in bereavement. The children are Vernon of Hespeler, Melvin of Rosebank and Clayton Wilfred, Ray, Louella and Edna at home. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Gascho, two brothers, Aaron of St. Agatha, Herbert, Louisville, N. Y., and five sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Rickert, Hespeler, Mrs. Allan Litwiller, Waterloo, Mrs. David Ropp and Mrs. Lorne Roth, Tavistock and Miss Edna Erb of Casterland, N. Y.

The funeral was held on Monday afternoon with public service at the St. Agatha A. M. Church of which the deceased was a faithful member. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Also surviving are 6 children (Herbert James, Jr., Richard Carl, Clair David, Janice Roes, Yvonne Ann, and Susan Marie), one brother (Aaron), and 5 sisters (Mrs. Emma Rickert, Mrs. Barbara Litwiller, Mrs. Fanny Ropp, Mrs. Irene Roth, and Mrs. Edna Moshier). Two daughters preceded him in death. He was a member of the Conservative Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Croghan C.M. Church, Feb. 5, in charge of Richard and Elias Zehr.

Beloved husband of the former Selena Ruby who predeceased him December 22, 1986. GERBER, Norma Arlene (nee Steinmann) February 4, 1930 - December 6, 2009 Peacefully with family at her side, Norma passed away at West Park Manor. With courage and grace, she accepted the gradual physical limitations of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Norma was born in Wellesley, ON. At the age of 11, her family moved to Baden. Here is where she met Stuart Gerber and they were married in 1951. In 1961 they moved to Winnipeg. Norma had a long career at Safeway retiring after more than 25 years in 1993. Norma was a kind and loving person who loved to be with her grandchildren. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren whether it was playing at home, outside or travelling to see them. She always took pleasure in each and every Christmas spending much time with them. Norma enjoyed camping with her family and loved tending to her flower gardens. She enjoyed making ceramics for her family and friends especially when they joined in and worked with her. She also enjoyed bowling for many years with Stuart and friends. Norma will be lovingly and sadly missed by her four children, Bryan (Laurice), Darrell (Sharron), Derrick (Debbie) and Melanie (Larry); her brother John and Clare and sisters Ruth and Irene. Forever cherishing her memories are her eight grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Brent, Breanne, Bryce, Kathleen, Brittany and Tanner. She was predeceased by her husband Stuart, of 50 years, in 2001; her sister Nancy and parents, Enos and Clara Steinmann. Carl died peacefully, on Wednesday evening, October 15, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, at Chateau Gardens in Elmira. He celebrated his 83rd birthday on October 3rd. He is the beloved husband of Esther (Bingeman) - they were married for 52 years. Carl will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Ruth and her husband Lindsay Duffield of Unionville, David and his wife Patty Gascho of Kitchener, Jane and her husband Jim Schuett of Kitchener and Rob and his wife Angie Gascho of San Diego, CA. Carl's 11 grandchildren were very special to him, Jordan and Christian Duffield, Jonathan, Jamie and Jenna Gascho, Ryan and Bonnie, Christie, Jennifer and Richard Schuett, Audrey and TJ Gascho. He will also be fondly remembered by Roy and Martha Gascho of New Holland, PA, Lawrence and Jane Bingeman of Kitchener, Dora Bingeman of Kitchener and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Melinda (Steinman) and Emanuel Gascho; sister-in-law, Grace Gascho and brother-in-law, Jonas Bingeman. Gascho Motors Limited was started in 1926 by his father, Emanuel Gascho. Along with his brother, Roy, they carried on the family automotive business until their retirement in 1991. The third generation of the business continues to be operated today by Carl's son, David. After retirement, Carl lived his dream of being able to fish every day at his Muskoka cottage. He was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada to the late Emmanuel and Melinda (Steinman) Gascho and was the husband of Martha F. Horst Kurtz Gascho with whom he shared 17 years of marriage. Roy attended the Akron Mennonite Church and he was a member of the Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He attended the Bahia Vista Mennonite Church, Sarasota, during the winters he and Martha enjoyed in Florida. He was the dealer principal of Gascho Motors in Kitchener, a role he shared with his late brother Carl. In his retirement years in Canada he was a full time volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Canada. In New Holland he was a member of the ROMEO Club, and everywhere and always, enjoyed visiting with friends, loved to golf and attend vintage car shows. Harold Gascho

The death of Harold Jacob Gascho, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Gascho, which occurred at the home of his parents here last Friday, following an attack of pneumonia, caused deep regret among a large circle of friends with whom the deceased was very popular. The young boy took sick the previous Sunday and despite the best medical aid his condition grow worse and death claimed him. Harold was in his 15th year, being born in New Hamburg on Nov. 2, 1927. He attended the local Public School and since November last was employed at the Waterloo Lingerie factory here.

Besides his sorrowing parents, he is survived by three brothers, Norman, Lloyd and Roy and one sister, Ruth.

The funeral took place on Monday afternoon from his parents' home, Catharine Street, to Steinman's A.-M. Church for service, and interment in the adjoining cemetery. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends were in attendance. Rev. M. O. Jantzi was in charge of the services.

Norman John Gascho was born on November 8, 1930 in New Hamburg, Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents, Aaron and Emma (Leis) Gascho, by his siblings, Anna Mae, Mary, Harold, and Lloyd, by his daughter, Barbara Lynne and great-granddaughter, Avery Hughes.

Norman is survived by his wife, Alice (Shantz) of 70 years. He is remembered by his children, Nancy (Gerhard) Klassen of Leamington ON, Susan of Waterloo ON, Betty (Brian) Brown of Surrey BC, Sally (Dave) Miller of Elmira ON, Penney (Kevin) Willms of Lethbridge AB, John (Rhonda Hildebrand) Gascho of Osler SK, and Christy (Yvan) Aubin of Kitchener ON. His 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren have many grandpa stories to share. He was happy to visit with his great, great-grandson this past summer. Norman worked as a salesman for Maple Lane Dairy for 20 years. He then owned and operated Run-Rite Burners, installing and servicing oil burner furnaces. Norm was a man of service, to his family, church, and the greater community. He volunteered many hours on Habitat for Humanity builds, installing duct work and furnaces. When he could no longer work on builds, he volunteered at the ReStore in Cambridge.

Norman and Alice raised their family in Breslau ON, later moving into Fairview Apartment Seniors Community, Cambridge ON. They travelled extensively visiting family in the west and different parts of the globe.

He was a member of Breslau Mennonite Church. HAYSVILLE - Elmer S. Boshart of Haysville died suddenly at his home Wednesday. He was 55. Born in Wilmot Township Dec. 15, 1912, he was a son of the late Mr. And Mrs. David Boshart.

He lived in Wilmot Township all his life. A member of Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley, he was employed at Canada Blower and Forge Co., Kitchener. One daughter, Doris Ann, predeceased him in infancy. Surviving at his wife, the former Barbara Lebold; three sons, Carl of RR 2, Petersburg, and Paul and Ross, both at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Marlene) Martz of Kitchener, Mrs. Gerald (Dorene) Brenneman of London, Ont., Mrs. Carl (Norma) Steinman of New Hamburg, Mrs. Basil (Janet) Plebon of Kitchener, Mrs. Ted (Shirley) Wroblewski and Mrs. Murray (Linda) Frey, both of New Hamburg, and Mary Lou, at home; two brothers, Delton of RR 2, Petersburg and Floyd of Baden; two sisters, Mrs. John (Ruby) Miles of RR 2, Petersburg, and Mrs. Gerald (Alice) Riehl of New Hamburg; 13 grandchildren. The body will be at the Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg, until Saturday noon, when removal will be made to the Steinman Mennonite Church, Baden, for a funeral service at 3 p.m. Rev. Chris O. Erb of Maple View Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Elmer S. Boshart of Haysville died at his home last Wednesday. He was 55. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Boshart.

He was employed at Canada Blower and Forge Co., Kitchener, and was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley.

He was predeceased by one daughter. Doris Ann.

Surviving are his wife, the former Barbar Lebold; three sons, Carl of RR 2, Petersburg, Paul and Boss., both at home; seven daughters. Delton along with Helen spent many years nurturing foster children and he drove disabled students to school and workshops. An avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Conestogo Lake where he water skied till he was 80 years old. As a hobby, he spent many hours doing wood carving and sold many at the ABC and Blyth Festivals. Our homes are filled with his carvings and will serve as a memory of dad. Kitchener, July 22 - Motoring to Au Gres, Michigan yesterday to attend the funeral of a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Roth, of Baden, were reached as they prepared to cross the border at Sarnia and informed their son, Ernest, 21, had been killed with two friends in a railway crossing crash near their home. Today they arranged for the funeral of their young son. The other victims were Glen Schwartzentruber, 16, and Raymond Snyder, 11. All were Mennonites. The three were killed instantly when struck by a Canadian National Railways train in charge of Edward Milner, Toronto, conductor, and William Flint, Toronto, engineer, on a crossing leading to the Samuel Roth farm. They were returning from a field, where they had been dusting potatoes. Roth, who was married to the former Mildred Roth last September, also is survived by his parents, one brother, Calvin, and two sisters, Agness and Mrs. Rufus Bender, Baden. Schwartzentruber, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber, is survived by his parents, six brothers, Arthur, Nyle, Clare, Elverne, Simon and Waybe, and six sisters, Leona, Ellen, Erma, Rita, Ruth and Arlene, all at home. Snyder is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Snyder; a brother, Vernus, at hoem, and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bechtel, Mrs. Ethel Roth and Ruth Snyder, all of Baden.

Roth.-Ernest Timothy, son of Samuel S. and Barbara (Jantzi) Roth, was born in Wilmot Twp., Waterloo Co., Ont., Sept. 22, 1925; died July 21, 1947; aged 21 y. 9 m. 29 d. He met his death along with Ray Snyder and Glen Schwartzentruber, in a railway crossing accident on his parents' farm, near Baden, Ont. Surviving are his ten-month bride (Mildred May Roth, Petersburg, Ont.), his parents, 2 sisters (Ellen-Mrs. Rufus Bender, of Baden; and Agnes, a student at E.M.C., Harrisonburg, Va.), 2 brothers (Calvin and Nevin, at home), and many other relatives and friends. Early in youth he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptized into the fellowship of the Wilmot A.M. Church, near Baden. He was loyal and deeply conscientious, cheerful in any task assigned to him. Funeral services were conducted at the home by M. O. Jantzi and at the church by Peter Nafziger and Oscar Burkholder. Rufus is survived by his wife, Ruth Viola Good, children Collin Bruce (Marnie Service), Terrance John (Judith Martin), Thomas Paul (Nancy Chorney), Marjorie Ruth (Douglas Richard) and David Rufus (Joanne Koebel). Rufus had fourteen grandchildren, Adam (Jasmine Heard), Jeremy (Bridget Hinnegan), Jessica (Stephen Kelley), Rebecca (James McCrae), Jonathan (Danielle Green), Alison (Philip Sullivan), David (Melissa Graham), Jeffrey (Kimberly Wideman), Seth (Alicia MacFadden), John, Katelyn, Leah, Jenna and Alexander and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alexander, Eden, Samuel, Ava, Maxwell and Nathan with two more due this month. Rufus was born June 26, 1915, the first child of Simeon Jutzi and Leah Gascho. He is survived by his sister Lauretta and brother Nyle and his wife, Patricia (Brady). He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Wallace and his wife, Mary (Shantz), his brother Curtis, his parents-in-law, Jacob Good and Wilhelmina Krueger and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ira and Ruth (Beatty) Good and Earl and Jean (Arnett) Good. Rufus' life was dominated by his sense of calling to active duty within the church and the community. He served as a Mennonite pastor in Floradale, Preston, Listowel, Tavistock, Pioneer Park-Kitchener and Bluesky, Alberta. He was national director of the Mennonite Foundation of Canada. He served in numerous leadership roles including serving on executive of Mennonite Conference of Ontario (now Mennonite Church Eastern Canada), instructor at Ontario Mennonite Institute and Bible School, Chairman of Mennonite Publication Board, Chairman of Ontario Mennonite Mission Board, Board member Mennonite Board of Overseas Missions, Overseer of Northern Church District, Board member Conrad Grebel College, Board member Fairview Mennonite Home, Board member and interim general manager Rockway Mennonite School and interim general manager Mennonite Savings and Credit Union. He was actively involved in assisting new immigrants to settle in Canada. During WW II, he served in firefighting and reforestation in British Columbia as a conscientious objector. He served on numerous community boards. He was a founding director of Langs Farm Village Association in Cambridge, chaired the Preston Ministerial, was instrumental in starting a counselling service as an off-shoot of the Preston Ministerial, chaired the Woolwich Ministerial and was a founding director of the Home and School Association for the former School Section # 5 in Woolwich Township. He and Ruth spent many hours in private ministries of compassion and assistance to people in need. It is for these that his children remember him most. For him the gospel was not only to be proclaimed but also to be lived in daily actions of love and service to people. Dad passed on a love of nature, classical music and the beauty surrounding us. As a farmer's son, he developed a love of the land and rural vistas. He golfed regularly until last year. He enjoyed woodworking and playing scrabble. He always had a book on the go. He will be remembered for his consistency, high energy level, commitment to his family and faith and his management and fiscal skills. Although he did not hesitate to make his views known, his approach was softened by his sense of gratefulness for all that life offered. His vulnerability in the last year provided many poignant moments for his family to connect in new and different ways with him. Until we could no longer hear him pray, his prayer was for strength to endure and a willingness to learn from the unfamiliar changes that were happening to him. The Jutzi Family wishes to thank Mark, Cindy and the entire team at St. Andrew's Terrace Long-Term Care Community for their kind attention to Dad during the last chapter of his life. LUELLA NAFZIGER 1922 - 2009 Passed away peacefully at Lisaard House surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Luella was born 87 years ago in East Zorra Township on November 3, 1922, the daughter of the late Noah and Nancy Erb. Beloved wife of the late Roy Nafziger (November 9, 2008). Dear mother of Sheryl of Kitchener and Gail of Waterloo. Special aunt to Wendy O'Brien Ewara and her husband Ewara Monday Ewara and Grandma to their children Emmanuel, Eyo and Emelia (Eme).

Survived by her sister Edna O'Brien and her husband Gerald of Waterloo, and brother Wilfred Erb and his wife Rita of Collingwood, sisters-in-law Vera Helmuth and Dora Wagler both of New Hamburg. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Luella was a member of St. Agatha Mennonite Church .

Predeceased by her parents, brothers Clayton Erb and his wife Marjorie, Melvin Erb and his wife Edith, Vernon Erb, and Ray Erb and his wife Lucy; brothers-in law John Nafziger and his wife Mildred; Lorne Wagler, and Norman Helmuth.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, December 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Luella's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, December 19 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Snyder officiating. Reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at St. Agatha Mennonite Church prior to the service.

GASCHO, Lyle John Passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener surrounded by his family. Lyle resided in Kitchener and was formerly of Wellesley. He was born 81 years ago in Wellesley Township and was the son of the late Aaron and Barbara (Lebold) Gascho. Beloved husband of Sandra (Schaaf) Gascho who he married July 8, 1961. Loving father of Debbie Heyer and friend Jeff of Waterloo, Brian and Lisa Gascho of Kitchener and Anita Bender of Waterloo. Dear grandfather of Stacy and Mark Weber, Marsha and Jason Holst, Nathan Gascho, Jordan Bender. Remembered by his sisters Elaine Thomas, Geraldine Gascho both of Kitchener, brother David and Agnes Gascho of Calgary, Alberta and a number of nieces and nephews. Lyle was predeceased by son-in-law Donald Heyer, sister Thelma and Lee Doerr and brother-in-law Mervyn Thomas. Lyle was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wellesley where he had been a trustee and operated the elevator and was involved with the construction of the new addition in 1992. He had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed woodworking, construction and was happy to pass his knowledge on to others. His evenings were spent watching Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy after the news. Lyle and Sandy enjoyed many years of traveling Canada and the United States in their motorhome. Funeral service took place Friday at Stirling Ave. Mennonite Church, Kitchener, for Kenneth Elroy Litwiller of Waterloo. He died last Tuesday at K-W Hospital at the age of 45. GINGERICH, Kenneth Ray February 1919 - June 2014 Sadly we announce the passing of Ken on June 15, 2014. Of Waterloo, formerly of Baden and Sarasota, Florida. Born and raised in Baden, Ken married Edith (Roth) Gingerich in 1941, celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary one day before he died. He is survived by his wife Edith, two daughters, Karen (Ward) Zehr, Linda (John) Michalofsky, grandchildren Drew (Nancy), Shelley (Steve), Melissa (Gary), Jody (Jody Kuntz), Jessica (Jamie), ten great- grandchildren, Meaghan, Reed, Trent, Zachary and Christopher, Lauren, Sophia and Olivia, Chloe and Kennedy. He is survived by his siblings Leona Steinman (Walter), Ray (Betty) Gingerich, Elaine Cressman, and Richard (Dorothy) Gingerich.
