They resided about two miles south-west of Berlin where he died December 22nd, 1882 (He was born July 15th, 1855). Witmer. - Almeda Hallman, beloved wife of J. W. Witmer, was born in Howick, Ont., and died in Petersburg, Ont., Nov. 28, 1920, in her 42nd year. She united with the Mennonite church when yet in her teens and was a faithful member till death. She leaves a deeply stricken husband, seven children (Vernon H., Luella Mae, Grace Viola, Edward H., William I., John E., and Melvin C.) and many relatives and friends. Morgan R. preceded her in death 2 years ago. Services were conducted at house and church by Bro. Manasseh Hallman. Buried in adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Witmer was born in Wilmot township near Baden, a son of the late Wesley Witmer and the former Almeda Hallman. A member of Bethany Missionary Church and formerly employed at J.M. Schneider. He is survived by his wife the former Alice Thoman, by his four daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Hallman and Dianne (Mrs. Walter Braun), both of Kitchener, Elaine (Mrs. James Taylor) of Brantford and Mary Lou (Mrs. John Appleton) of Tavistock and by four brothers, Vernon of Cambridge(P), Edward of Cambridge(H), Eldon of Kitchener and Melvin of New Hamburg and by two sisters, Mrs. Luella Schott of Cambridge(P) and Mrs. Grace Sider of Welland; lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be sadly missed. In his 100th year, Eldon passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014, at Trinity Village Care Centre. Eldon's wife, Lauretta Boshart, passed away August 29, 2011. He is survived by son, Murray Witmer (Ruth), daughter, Dorene Rudy-Snyder (Doug Snyder), son James Witmer (Dianne). Lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter Judith Marie Witmer in 1951. Predeceased by parents Rev. John Wesley and Almeda (Hallman) Witmer, stepmothers Selina Knechtel Witmer, Ada Bechtel Witmer, and Minnie Brooks. Eldon was the last living relative in the Witmer and Boshart families. He was predeceased by Witmer siblings and their spouses, Vernon (Vinetta) Witmer, Luella (Vernon) Schott, Grace (Lloyd) Sider, Edward (Elmina) Witmer, William (Alice) Witmer, and Melvin (Ethel) Witmer, and Morgan Witmer (died at 2 years of age). Predeceased by Boshart siblings and spouses Moses (Bertha) Boshart, John (Ida) Boshart, Netta (Moses) Gingerich, Lily (Ezra) Brenneman, Mary Boshart, Menno (Mynetta) Boshart, Simeon (Esther) Boshart, Aaron (Marion) Boshart, Gideon (Pearl) Boshart, Luella (Clarence) Erb, and Elmina (Edward) Witmer. Dad was born on a farm in Rosebank, ON, and was baptized as a member of the Mannheim Mennonite Church where his father was pastor. Through the years Dad's careers included: Burkhart Dairy, Dunker Construction, Weston's Bakery, Custodian for First Mennonite Church and Bible Institute, Chesley Lake Camp Manager, Provident Book Store as shipper and receiver, and for Herald Press as Book Distributor. He retired in 1981 at sixty-seven years of age and said that was way too early! During his time at First Mennonite Church he taught the Youth Class and he and mom were Youth Sponsors for 3 years. Then he became Adult Superintendent. For forty years he was on the Church Council (eight years as Council Chair) with pastors C.F. Derstine, John Hess, Ed Metzger and Bob Johnson. Mom and Dad lived at Fairview Mennonite Home for thirteen years. With sadness, but wanting to be closer to his children, Dad moved to Trinity Village Care Centre in October 2013. We are so pleased with the love, care and concern shown to Dad from Fairview Mennonite Home and Trinity Village Care Centre. Dad will be dearly missed for his twinkling smile, warm gentle hugs and loving accepting manner. He loved life and lived his faith each day. Friends are invited to share their memories of Eldon with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation has already taken place. On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, interment at 11: 00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church Cemetery. The memorial service will be held at First Mennonite Church, 800 King Street E., Kitchener at 11: 30 a.m. with Pastor Nancy Brubaker officiating. Reception to follow after the church service. SCHOTT, Clare Floyd Passed away peacefully at Trinity Village Care Centre in Kitchener on June 12, 2014. He was pre-deceased by his wife Margaret (Pratt), his brother Don, and his parents Vernon and Luella (Witmer). Clare was born in Wilmot Township in 1926. He will be fondly remembered by his children Greg (Linda), Rob (Judith) and Larry (Susan); his grandchildren Ben Yu Schott (Melissa), Kendra Baillie (Jim), Rachel and Jason; his great-grandchildren Callie, Theo, James and Elyse; his brothers Cliff (Carol), Glen (Alice), Ken (Jackie), David (Denise); and his sister Grace Bechtel (George). Clare demonstrated an outstanding mechanical aptitude from an early age. He completed his apprenticeship as a Pattern Maker with Philip Gies Foundry during WWII. He was truly an exalted craftsman and he honed his skills as a problem-solver by successfully completing many complex projects. Clare had a special passion for building boats. His first vessels, made in the 1930s out of Coca Cola signs, were launched in the Bridgeport dam reservoir. Subsequent vessels were more seaworthy. His pride and joy was a 28 foot aluminum-hulled cabin cruiser complete with Volvo inboard/ outboard engine which he built from scratch in the early 1970s. Clare founded Parkway Manufacturing Limited in 1959. With the support of Margaret and help from their three sons they developed the Company into a very successful business building patterns, moulds and tooling for the plastics industry. Clients included Admiral International, the Coleman Company, Boeing, Bauer Industries and Perstorp Components. Clare retired when he and Margaret sold the Company in 1993. Clare was a gentleman in the truest sense. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. Clare's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10-10:45 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Lewis officiating. A private interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery following a reception at the funeral home. Surrounded by the love of his family, Cliff died unexpectedly but peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Sunday, December 4, 2016. He was 89.
Beloved husband of Carol (Gingrich) for 65 wonderful years. Devoted Father to Gary and his wife Linda, Judy and her husband John Pearce and Brad and his wife Karen. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Rob & Jackie McTaggart, Lori Schott, Sarah Schott, Aimee Schott and her wife Melissa Quinn, Tim Schott and wife Megan, Joel Pearce and wife Leanne, Joanna Schmidt, Jill Doerr and fiancé Chris, Kaitlin and husband Trey Kinnear and Nicholas Schott and fiancé Victoria. There are also 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren surviving. Brother of Glen and wife Alice, Kenneth and wife Jackie, Grace and husband George Bechtel and David and wife Denise. He was predeceased by his parents Luella Witmer and Vernon Schott, granddaughter Stephanie and brothers Clare and Donald.
After 32 years at Marsland Engineering, Cliff changed careers and spent the remainder of his working years at the Mennonite Savings and Credit Union (MSCU) where he was branch manager in Elmira, eventually retiring as Chief Executive Officer. Cliff was an active volunteer throughout his adult life serving on many community and church related boards including MSCU. Following their retirement, Cliff and Carol spent many happy years living at their homes in Florida and Chesley Lake.

CHOTT, Donald Wayne July 11, 1934 - October 25, 2012 After a short fight with cancer, Don chose a beautiful autumn day and said goodbye as the last leaves were falling from the trees. Predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Luella (Witmer) Schott, Don leaves behind daughters Lynda Hallett and Cathy Caron (Blair); grandsons Josh and Brendan Caron; his very special Angel and soulmate, Mary Lynn Tosh Johnson as well as Bruce and Becky Johnson (Chris Ennis) and grandson Rylen. Also grieving are brothers Clare (Margaret), Cliff (Carol), Glen (Alice), Ken (Jackie), David (Denise) and sister Grace Bechtel (George). Don was a permanent fixture at the building on the corner of Weber and Columbia in Waterloo. Beginning as a tool and die apprentice with Marsland Engineering, through the years of Leigh Instruments Ltd., then with La-Z-Boy Canada Ltd. until his retirement. An "outdoorsman" in the truest sense, much of his heart belongs to the northern bush of Bear Lake and Hunt Camp 100. At Don's request, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome to come and share stories, memories and hugs at a reception to be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre, from 2-4 p.m. (There will be a brief time of remembrance at 3 p.m., led by Pastor John Pearce.) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society, 250 Riverbend Dr., Kitchener. A very special thank you to home care nurses Becky, Paula and Erin and to Dr. Donna Ward.
