    Notes:

    MILLICAN, JAMES ALEXANDER was born in Belwood, a son of the Rev. William Millican. He graduated from Victoria University in 1888, and following a year of internship, settled in Preston. This decision was noted by the Preston Progress in November, 1889. In 1891 he was consulting physician to the Preston Mineral Baths. On November 3, 1893 in a wedding notice referred to him as Dr. J. A. Millican, of Galt.
    It is not clear how long he stayed here, but by December, 1896, he was in Chicago . He took a postgraduate course in Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat, and in 1910 went to Calgary, where he practised until his death on January 3, 1944. He was survived by his widow, a daughter and a son
