    Tilman Schafer. 65, passed away at his home, 61 Betzner Avenue, Saturday morning. Born at Parkway, he was a son of the late Mr.. and Mrs. Adam Schafer. A carpenter by trade. Mr. Schafer worked at the Hall Planing Mill for many years and later with the Bover Lumber Company for several years.

    Surviving are his wife, formerly Isabel Wolfe; one son, Stanley W., Kitchener; four brothers, Oliver, Kitchener, Norman. Wiarton, Edward, Breslau, and Nelson, Toronto; four sisters, Mrs. Rueben Eagle, Preston, Mrs. Joseph Fries, Kitchener, and Mrs. William Lee and Miss Annie Schafer, both of Wiarton.

    Mrs. Margaret Fries - Mrs. Margaret Fries, 63, died last night at her residence, 103 Breithaupt St., following a brief illness. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Schaefer, she was born at Breslau on April 4, 1888. She was a member of St Matthew's Lutheran Church. Her husband, Josiah Fries, predeceased her in 1947.

    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Dora) Schacht and Mrs. Gertrude Winters, both of Kitchener; two brothers, Edwin Schaefer, Breslau and Oliver Schaefer, Kitchener; three sisters, Mrs. Reuben Eagle, Preston, Mrs. David Cragg and Mrs. Barbara Lee, both of Shallow Lake. Two granddaughters also survive. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. John Schmieder officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

    Passed away peacefully at the K-W Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 after a brief illness. Vera, in her 97th year, was the beloved wife of the late Albert Blake (1979) of England. Loving mother of Delbert and his wife Frances, Douglas and his wife Connie, Harold and his wife Norma, all of Kitchener, Marjorie and her husband Lendo Dermo of Guelph, Marion and the late Albert Denomme of Kitchener, Roy and his wife Doris of New Hamburg, and Ruby and her husband Don Ueberschlag of Kitchener. Cherished grandmother of 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Dear sister-in-law of Gertrude Schaefer of Ayr, Velma Schaefer and Greta Schaefer both of Kitchener.

    Predeceased by her granddaughter, Judy Demonne, her parents Edwin and Mellisa Schaefer, four brothers Clarence, Clayton, Lorne, Ken and two sisters Bertha Siebel and Laura Schaefer. Vera is the last surviving member of the family.

    Vera's family will receive friends from 10: 00 A.M. to 11: 00 A.M. on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener (749-8467) followed by the Funeral Service in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 11: 00 A.M. PastorRichard Schneider, Breslau Evangelical Church officiating Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) or the Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church would be appreciated by the family.

He was the son of the late Albert and Vera (Schaefer) Blake. Beloved husband of Doris (Snider) Blake with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. Loving father of Bev and Steve Campbell of New Hamburg and Karen and Robert Sisko of California. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Kellie, Shae-Lynn and Michael. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Delbert and Francis Blake of Waterloo, Harold and Norma Blake of Kitchener, Marjorie Dermo of Guelph, Marion Denomme of Kitchener, Don Ueberschlag of Kitchener and sister-in-law Connie Blake of Seaforth. Roy was pre-deceased by his brother Doug Blake and sister Ruby Ueberschlag. Roy was a member of the New Hamburg Lawn Bowling Club. Roy enjoyed playing solo and euchre at the New Hamburg Legion, and also played shuffleboard at the MURF. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Roy's life will take place on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 3: 00 p.m. at the funeral home.     Wednesday, December 21st, 1932 - Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022

    Donald Sudden passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, just shy of his 90th birthday. Don enjoyed life and gave those around him lots of reason to smile and enjoy the day. He had many stories to tell of delivering groceries by bike in Galt, making children's shoes at Savage Shoe and repairing damaged truck bodies at Sturdy Truck Body. He served in the Army of the Canadian Armed Forces for 21 years in the Korean War, Vietnam and in Peacekeeping tours of duty. He was very active in the Korean Veterans Association of Canada and was the last President of the National Heritage Unit of KVA. For many years he was a member of the South Woolwich Optimist Club.

    Don is dearly missed by his beloved wife Grace Sudden (nee Lindsay) and son Michael and his wife Linda. Remembering, with love, great times together are Lynnette and Trevor, Michelle and Kyle, Heather and Tony, Vasili, Dimitri and Calista. The Eagle family cousins and the Lindsay family brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews have many wonderful memories of being with Don and enjoying his chuckles and good humour.

    He is predeceased by his brother John, parents, Edna Wheeler (Eagle), Fennel Sudden and Harry Wheeler and in-laws Eric Lindsay and Lacuta Lindsay (Kent).

    Don had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed working in his shop with wood making games, tables and other useful wood items. He took up stained glass and many of our windows have his pieces adding colour and memories. Don and Grace camped for many years at Elora Gorge and on the Bruce Peninsula besides taking trips east and west in Canada often to join with other Korea Veterans for reunions and good times together.

    Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Reception to follow.
