    Notes:

    Holst, Jacob, son of the late George and Louisa (Hartung) Holst, was born near New Hamburg, Ont., Dec. 13, 1881; died at his home near Petersburg, Ont., Jan. 8, 1958; aged 77 y. 26 d. On Sept. 2, 1914, he was untied in marriage to Annie Holtsworth, who survives. Also surviving are ten children, 7 sons and 3 daughters (Albert, Petersburg; Harvey, Kitchener; Delton, New Hamburg; George, Petersburg; Clarence, St. Agatha; John, St. Jacobs; Walter, Kitchener; Irene, Petersburg; Viola, Freeport; and Luella, St. Jacobs), one sister (Mrs. Mary Ann Burchatski), and 25 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were one daughter (Margaret, in infancy), 2 brothers (Eli and David) , and one sister (Elisabeth-Mrs. Isaiah Martin). N his youth he united with the Mennonite Church and at the time of his death was a member of the Blenheim Church, near New Dundee. Funeral services were held at the church, Jan. 11, in charge of Arnold Cressman, assisted by Moses H. Roth and Elmer Grove, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

    Holst, -- David, son of the late George and Louisa Holst, was born at Pinehill, Ont.; went home to be with the Lord, Sept. 2, 1955, at the K. W. Hospital; aged 66 y. 11 m. 10 d. He gave his heart to the Lord in his early teens and remained faithful to the end. He was a member of the Cressman Mennonite Church, Breslau, Ont. On Jan. 24, 1917, he was united in marriage to Amanda Schlabach who survives him. Also surviving are 2 sons (Lemor of Harriston; Carlyle of Petersburg), one daughter (Verniece--Mrs.Burton Bowman of Petersburg), 4 grandchildren, one brother (Jacob of Pinehill), and one sister (Mrs. Marion Burchatzki of New Hamburg). One brother (Eli) and one sister (Mrs. Isaiah Martin) predeceased him, his sister passing away only one day before he did. Funeral services were held Sept. 4 at the Cressman Church with Carl Rudy and Moses H. Roth officiating.

    Holst, Eli, son of the late George and Louisa (Hartung) Holst was born March 12, 1891; died at his home near Haysville, Ont., Nov. 30, 1941; aged 50 y. 8 m. 18 d. In June, 1908, he was baptized upon confession and received into the Mennonite Church, in which faith he died. He was united in marriage to Elsie Burrows Jan. 1, 1921, who survives him with 4 children (Dorothy, Elmeta, Gladys, and Clayton) all at home. One daughter (Verna), died in, infancy. He also leaves 2 brothers and 2 sisters (Jacob of Pinehill, David of Petersburg, Mrs. Mary Ann Burchatski of New Hamburg and Mrs. Isaiah Martin of Pinehill). He suffered much pain during his illness of several years but was patient, realizing that Christ, in whom he trusted suffered more for him. Funeral services were held Dec. 3 from his home to Geiger Mennonite church and cemetery in charge of Bros. M. H. Roth and M. Hallman.

    Martin, -- Elizabeth, daughter of the late George and Louise (Hartung) Holst, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont., Nov. 20, 1895; passed away in the Milverton, Ont., Nursing Home after a lengthy illness on Aug. 25, 1955, aged 59 y. 9 m. 5 d. In 1911, she accepted Christ and was baptized and remained a faithful member of the Geiger Mennonite congregation until her death. On Nov. 20, 1929, she was married to Isaiah Martin, who survives her, together with one son (Nyle) at home. Also surviving are 2 brother (Jacob of Pine Hill, and David of Breslau). One sister and one brother predeceased her. Funeral services were conducted from the Geiger Church on Aug. 29 in charge of Elmer Grove and Moses Roth, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

    Edward Hartung - Mr. Edward Hartung of Heidelberg died this morning at the age of 61, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Wilmot Township and employed at the Globe Furniture Co. Mr. Hartung attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Heidelberg, and was a member of the church board for four years. Surviving are his wife, the former Martha Ziegler, three sons, Harvey of Waterloo, Cpl. Albert Hartung, Nanaimo, B.C., and Donald, at home, one daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Hilda) Goodwin of Heidelberg, four brothers, John of Shakespeare, George of New Hamburg, Gordon of Phillipsburg, and Milton of Wellesley, and one sister, Mrs. John (Edna) Kneisel of Wellesley. Five grandchildren also survive. The remains are resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until Wednesday at 6 pm when removal will be made to his late residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 pm at this late residence, and at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Heidelberg, at 2: 30 pm, Rev. H. Nuhn will officiate. Burial will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery, Heidelberg.

Also remembered by sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law Rosemary Fowlie, Andy & Dianne Lease, George & Cathy Lease, Wanda Hillcoff, Joanne & Brian Hinz.

    Predeceased by his parents Eli and Elsie Holst, step father Lavercy Leis, sisters Elmeta & Nelson Roth, Gladys Leis, Dorothy & Danny Zehr and Verna Holst in infancy, brothers-in-law Albert Fowlie, Bill Hillcoff and sister-in-law Eleanor Smith. Clayton was the last surviving member of his family.

    Visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Milverton Mennonite Fellowship at 2:00 p.m.. Pastor Dawne Driedger officiating.

    HARTUNG, Elverne, Lincoln - On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1992, Elverne Hartung, went Home to be with his Lord, after a courageous battle with cancer.

    He resided at R.R. 2, Baden. He was born in Petersburg 65 years ago, a son of the late Gordon and Veronica (nee Boshart) Hartung. He had worked for the City of Waterloo for 42 years and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg. He enjoyed gardening as his hobby.

    Loving companion of Rose (Waechter) Lamka. Dear brother of Marcella and her husband Ezra Berg of Waterloo and Eileen Hartung of New Hamburg.

    Also survived by a sister-in-law, Frances Hartung of Stratford and a number of nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by Paul, Florence, John and Christine Snyder of R.R. 2, Baden. Predeceased by one brother, Nile.
