Burkhart, Susannah, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Absolom Martin, and widow of the late Ezra Burkhart, was born in Woolwich Twp., Ont., on July 25, 1879; passed to her eternal reward on June 20, 1956; aged 76 y. 10 m. 26 d. She was a member of the Elmira Mennonite Church. Surviving are one son, Alvin, of Kitchener, Ont., 3 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. One daughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the Elmira Church on June 22, with O. D. Snider and Howard S. Bauman officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Alvin Burkhardt, 67, of Elmira, died Tuesday at K-W Hospital after a short illness.

Born at Woolwich Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Burkhardt. He was employed as a guard at Seagram Distilleries for 12 years, retiring in August, 1965.

He married Pauline Henkel, who died in October, 1961. Last year he married Robina Laing, who survives.

Surviving also are two sons, Eric and Walter, both of Kitchener; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Helga) Kesselring of Kitchener and six grand-children. One sister predeceased him.

The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor. Service will be conducted in the funeral chapel at 2:30 p.m. Thursday by Rev. M. E. Reuber of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church. Burial will be in Elmira Mennonite cemetery.

BURKHARDT, Eric Passed away peacefully, after an extended illness, on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Esther (nee Knechtel), loving father of Beverly (Tom) Aicken and Bruce (Charlotte) Burkhardt, cherished grandpa of Jacob (Kim), Erica (Steve), Russell (Samantha), Angela (Chad) and Robyn (Tommy), proud great-grandpa of Tawnya, Jacob, Samuel, Wraeanna, Wrennae, and Ty, dear brother of Walter Burkhardt and Helga Kesselring, and brother-in-law of Hilda McEwin, Ruth Glasford, Jacob Knechtel, Karen Knechtel and Gerry Kesselring. Predeceased by his grandparents Ezra and Sussanah Burkhardt and his parents Alvin and Paula Burkhardt. Eric was a dedicated employee of Joseph E. Seagram's for forty one years and a member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church. He attended Faith Missionary Church. He was formerly employed at Crown Delivery. Beloved husband of the former Hilda Roth; dear father of Mrs. Rudy (Yvonne) Sawatzky of Kitchener, Mrs. Paul (Dianne) Wilhelm of Route 1, Milverton; brother of Eric and Mrs. Gerald (Helga) Kesselring, both of Kitchener; two granddaughters, Lisa and Becky Sawattzky also survive. Predeceased by his parents and one step-brother Otto.
