    MRS. JOHN W. GRODY

    Mrs. John Grody, 71, nee Emma Birnstihl, of 223 Frederick St., died today at the K-W Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 15, 1874, in Listowel, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Birnstihl, She was an adherent of Zion Evangelical Church.

    Surviving are her husband, John W. Grody: an adopted daughter, Mrs. R. (Violet) Gebhardt, of Cleveland, Ohio, and a brother Emil Birnstihl of Bridgeport.

    Remains are resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held on Monday at two o'clock. Burial will be made in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Rev. E. E. Hallman, pastor of the church, will officiate.

    IS CHARGED WITH ROBBERY

    Detroit, March 15. - Robert Burnstihl, of Berlin, Ont., scratches on whose face led to his arrest on suspicion, admitted to detectives that he had attacked Mrs. Alice Higgins last Monday night. Burnstihl, however, denies stealing her diamond earrings, valued at $300, and some cash from her stocking.

    Burnstihl was confronted by Mrs. Higgins, who at once identified him as her assailant. He denied the charge, but when questioned later in the day admitted the scratches on his face were inflicted by the woman when he attacked her.

    The woman declared Burnstihl attacked her immediately upon at entering the room. and that while she was unconscious he tore the rings from her ears and robbed her of the money. Witnesses who found the woman insensible, detectives say, state her first action after regaining conciousness was to reach for her earrings.

    A warrant charging Burnstihl with robbery, will be asked for Monday..

    BERLIN MAN ARRESTED FOR A DETROIT ROBBERY

    Detroit, March 15.- The arrest of Robert Burnstihl a native of Berlin, Ontario, was ordered yesterday by the Detroit authorities and detectives, found their man at Orion, 20 miles outside the city, Burnstihl is charged with having robbed Mrs. Alice Higgins in her flat in this city last Monday night. He admits that he was in the place, but denies committing any robbery.

    Mrs. Higgins informed the police that the robber hurt her cruelly and then tore her diamond earrings from her ears. When she was shown Burnstihl in a call at headquarters to-day Mrs. Higgins fell in a dead faint.

    Canadian Tailor, Arrested, Is Confronted by Mrs. Higgins.

    Robert Burustihl, the Berlin, Ont., tailor, scratches on whose face led Friday to his arrest on suspicion. admitted Saturday to Detectives Parker and Shepherd he had attacked Mrs. Alice Higgins last Monday night, when she was severely beaten in her apartments at 91 Grand Itiver avenue, but denies stealing her diamond earrings, valued at $300. and $8 in cash from her stocking.

    Burnstihl early Saturday morning was confronted by Mrs. Higgins. who identitied him as her assallant. He denied the charge, but when questioned later in the day admitted the scratches on his face were inflicted by the woman when he attacked her.

    Burnstihl told the police he went to the woman's house for a purpose other than robbery and a quarrel followed. Burnstihl said he struck the woman on the forehead with his fist, knocking her against a radiator and rendering her unconscious. He then examined her for signs of life and, finding her breathing, left.

    The woman declared Burnstihi attacked her immediately upon entering the room, and that while she was unconscious he tore the rings from her ears and robbed her of the money. Witnesses, who found the woman insensible, the detectives say, state her first action after regaining consciousness was to reach for her, earrings.

    Birnstihl - Goff. - Rev. W. B. Clemmer at the parsonage of the Memorial Christian church last evening at 3 o'clock officiated at the marriage of Mrs. Veda B. Goff and Harry Birnstihl, both of this city. After the ceremony the wedding party was driven to the home of the bride, where a dinner was served. Mr. Birnstihl is a tailor by trade in the employ of W. Duguid on Second avenue, and he and his bride will make their home at 611 Eleventh street.

    CHARGE HUSBANDS WITH DESERTION

    Two Spouses Seek Divorce on These Grounds-Both Plaintiffs Are Rock Islanders.

    Mrs. Lucille Mooney of Rock Island filed a petition for divorce from her husband. William Mooney, this morning in the circuit clerk's office. Mr. and Mrs. Mooney were married in Rock Island July 31, 1900, and lived together for five years, when, the plaintiff alleges, her husband deserted her. She also charges him with adultery. Mrs. Mooney in her petition asks the court to allow her to resume her maiden name, Lucille Dunavin. Schriver & Schriver represent the plaintiff.

    A bill for divorce from her husband. Harry R. Birnstihl, was filed this morning in the circuit clerk's office by Mrs. Blanche Birnstihl. The couple was married in this city Aug. 23, 1907, and lived together for but a few months, when. Mrs. Birnstihl charges, her husband deserted her. The plaintiff is represented by Schriver & Schriver.

    ATTACKED BY STALLION.

    Mr. H. C Birnstihl of Bridgeport, who make his headquarters at Len Miller, was attacked by a vicious stallion this week and is laid up at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grody, 47 Pequegnat avenue. His son, Robert Birnstihl of Louisville, Kentucky, who is visiting in this vicinity brought the injured man to Berlin from Ben Miller. In a recent issue it was stated that Mr. Robert Birnstihl was visiting his wife's sister, Mrs. Grody. This was an error that proved embarrassing to Mr. Birnstihl. Mrs. Grody of Pequegnat avenue is a sister of Mr Birtstihl.

    WADSWORTH Grace M. Raynor passed away Aug. 13.

    Mrs. Raynor was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and resided in Wadsworth 49 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Wadsworth Lively Seniors.

    Mrs. Raynor is survived by son, Charles G. of Orrville; daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Raymond) Adams of Elyria, Jean (Mrs. Harvey) Johnson of Rittman, 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and sister, Vi Gebhardt of Mt. Lebanon, Pa. She was preceded in death by husband, Fred J.; and sister, Minnie Brubaker.

    The family will receive friends TO. NIGHT from 7 to 9 at the Hilliard Cox Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where services will be held Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment Rittman Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited TONIGHT at 8:30. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. (Hilliard Cox Mullaney, 334-1501.)
