The death took place Sunday at his home in Erbsville of a well known. resident in the person of Mr. Johu Holst. He leaves a sorrowing widow and three sons, viz. Henry and Irvin, Waterloo and John Kitchener, and three daughters, Mrs. Cyrus Schmidt, Mrs. D. Cressman, and Mrs. Oscar Knarr, Waterloo.

The funeral will be held from the residence on Wednesday afternoon. Feb. 13th, at 1.30 o'clock to the Erbsville Church, for service after which interment will take place in the Allemang Cemetery.

Holst - George, son of the late Charles Holst was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Nov. 8, 1856; died very suddenly May 19, 1938, at the home of his son Jacob, where he had been visiting for a few days; aged 82 y. 2 m. 11 d. He was united in marriage 57 years ago to Louisa, daughter of the late Daniel Hartnig, who predeceased him 16 years ago. He accepted Christ in his youth and was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church since his marriage. He leaves 3 sons (Jacob, David and Eli, all of Wilmot) and 2 daughters (Mrs. Marion Burchatski of New Hamburg; Elizabeth, wife of Isaiah Martin on the homestead), 22 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted May 21 from his home to the Geiger Mennonite Church, in charge of Bro. M. Hallman. Text, 1 Pet. 1: 3-5. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Death claimed another of our well-known citizens, Mr. Balthaser Holst, who passed away at his late home, Queen St., on Wednesday evening last week. The deceased was a highly respected resident of our town for over twenty years. Besides a sorrowing widow, two sons, Charlie, St. Jacobs, and George, Berlin, also two daughters, Bertha, at home, and Emma, (Mrs. Kuehman), berlin, mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving father. The funeral, which took place on Saturday, was largely attended. Mr. Hansen conducted the burial.

Mrs. Lucinda Schmitt

Mrs. Lucinda Schmitt, 80, of 66 Brubacher St. died in St. Mary's Hospital Saturday after long illness. She had been a resident at Fairview Mennonite Home, Preston, for 18 months.

Born in Erbsville, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Holst and lived in Waterloo for many years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Cyrus Schmitt, died in 1947.

Surviving are two sons, Edgar E. of Waterloo and Delton J. of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Sangster (Edna) Geiger of Kitchener and Mrs. Jerome (Lu ella) Lorentz of Baden; two brothers, John Holst of Baden and Ervin Holst of Waterloo, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Cressman of Waterloo. There are seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

The body is at, the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, where services. will be conducted at 3:30 p.m.- Tuesday by Rev. C. S. Roberts. Burial will be in Erbsville Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Dalton Cressman

Mrs. Dalton I. Cressman of 50 High St., formerly of John Street West, Waterloo, died at the Coutts Pavilion, Freeport Sanatorium Thursday after a lengthy illness. She was 84.

The former Clara Holst, she was born Feb. 20, 1885, in Erbsville, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Holst and had been a patient at Coutts Pavilion for the past three years and resident of Waterloo for many years. Mrs. Cressman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Her husband predeceased her in 1953. Surviving are one son, Gilbert, Waterloo; one brother, John, Baden; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Schiel in May, 1965, two brothers and two sisters.

The body was at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home after noon Saturday until noon Monday when removal was made to St. John's Lutheran Church chapel for service at 2 p.m. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo. Rev. A I. Conrad officiated.

Donations to the building fund St. John's Lutheran Church were accepted as expressions of sympathy.

Holst. - Verna Lillian, infant daughter of Eli and Elsie Holst, near New Hamburg, Ont., died Aug. 20, 1932; aged 1 y. 3 m. 27 d., after being ailing for several months. Her life on this earth was short, but we know she has gone where sin and sorrow are unknown. God saw fit to take this dear little one from us for He had need of her over there.

And bade it blossom there."

Before passing away she smilingly stretched out her little arms as if to go to someone. She leaves her parents and three little sisters. Funeral services were conducted on Aug. 22 at the home by Bro. Parents Norman and Bertha (nee Holst) Schmidt and parents-in-law Edward and Katherina (nee Grien) Herbst.

Helene was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Kitchener. She was active with the quilting group and her talents were very much appreciated. She volunteered in the kitchen and many church communities. In the early 2000's, Helene was honoured within a group of many by the City of Kitchener, for her longtime senior volunteer work. Helene was employed in 1939 at John Forsythe Shirt Company, Waterloo and Kitchener and retired at the age of 78. She was a meticulous seamstress and knitter, loved detail, stitch, and seams. For many years Helene volunteered at the Mission, Canadian Food For Children, on Guelph Street, on a weekly basis!
