Notes:
There passed away at her home, lot 2, con. 6, Blenheim on Friday morning, Sept. 16, a very estimable lady in the person of Mrs. James Dance, after a short illness of only about a week. - Mrs. Dance, whose maiden name was Janet Hall, was the eldest daughter of Walter and Isabelle Hall, Ayr, and was very highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends, who deeply sympathize with her sorely bereaved husband and family. The deceased, who was married in Blenheim in 1896 by the Rev. J. S. Hardie, the then pastor of Stanley-st. church, Ayr, was in her 37th year, and strangely enough the day of her death was the 14th anniversary of her wedding day, and the 13th anniversary of her eldest son's birthday. She is the third member of Mr. and Mrs. Hall's family that has entered into eternal rest within a period of slightly over two years - the others being Mrs. John R. Easton of Paris, and Mr. John D. Hall of Ayr. Mrs. Dance leaves a family of five - four boys and one girl. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon to Ayr cemetery, followed thence by a large concourse of friends and acquaintances. The services at the home and the grave were conducted by Rev. D. I. Ellison. The pallbearers were Messrs. James and William Scott, Charles Rafferty, Alex. Kennedy, Murdo McRae and Sheldon Stockton.

J. H. Dance - A prominent, retired Ayr businessman
John Hall (Jack) Dance of Telfer Place, Paris, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31st. He was in his 88th year. Born in Blenheim Township, he was a son of the late James Dance and Janet Hall. He lived all his life in the Ayr-Paris area. Mr. Dance originally farmed south of Ayr. In the mid1940's he and Jairus Maus established Ayr Feed and Supply on the main floor of Reid's Hall, Northumberland Street. Subsequently he took over the complete operation and as the business grew into a major supplier for area farmers, he was joined by his sons Don and Doug. In the early 1960's the mill was hit by two disastrous fires, but each time the facility was completely rebuilt. Mr. Dance never lost his love of farming. He and his sons founded Ayr Broiler Co., purchased the old Ayr rink on Stanley Street, converted it, and for years raised broiler chickens in it. Later modern new facilities were built outside town, the building torn down and the area now makes up part of the Kirkwood property. In later years he became actively involved in raising prize-winning Simmental cattle and was well-known in the Ontario Simmental Association. Mr. Dance was a constant booster of Ayr and many of the community's organizations and projects. He served at one time on Ayr council, active member of Knox United Church and church boards; 50 year member and past master of Ayr Masonic Lodge No. 172. Mr. Dance and his wife, the former Mary Elizabeth (Bessie) Telfer celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in September. Survived by his wife, respected father of Jane and her husband Marlen Vincent of Seaforth, Don and his wife Anne and Doug and his wife Carole all of Ayr. DIEFENBACHER, Ruth Today we must say goodbye to our sweet mother, grandmother, aunt and true friend: Ruth Diefenbacher who passed away with great peace, surrounded by family on April 15, 2013. Ruth was a beautiful woman of unforgettable intelligence, thought- fulness, spirituality, elegance, style, grace and love. She was dedicated to her profession as a Registered Nurse, and as a Clinical Nursing Teacher and Clinic Coordinator at St. Mary's General Hospital School of Nursing. She lived her life serving others. In addition to her numerous professional accolades, she was involved with many charities and community organizations. Her friends will remember her most as a wonderful hostess. She perfected the art of making you feel welcome and important. Ruth was an incredible listener… this indeed will be missed! She was happiest surrounded by family, especially at her paradise up North. One of the most vivid memories of Ruth is of her watering her many gardens at the cottage. The gorgeous colours decorated the shores of Georgian Bay. Her commitment to her husband and children was paramount. She married her one true love, Nyle Diefenbacher (predeceased her in 2007) and joyfully celebrated 40 years of marriage. She is survived by her sons Darryl (Cheryl), Jeff (Jackie Sieber), Craig and daughter, Carol. Also, her brother-in-law Bob Kipp (the late Faye, her best friend and sister) and their children Lori, Lisa and Brad, and her brother Glenn (Anna) Dance. She will be sadly missed by many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their thanks to Osteopath Paul Psutka D.O.M.P. for explaining and making symptoms very tolerable during the 2 1/2 year reprieve from cancer. As well, heartfelt thanks to Dr. Stacy Hubay - Medical Oncologist - Lung Assessment at Grand River Cancer Centre, Dr. Robert Stevens - Medical Oncologist - Haematology at Grand River Cancer Centre, Dr. Donna Ward - friend and palliative care specialist. Ruth's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467. A Celebration of Ruth's Life will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, in the chapel of the funeral home, officiated by family friend, Rev. Marilyn Rushton. Reception to follow.
