Mrs. Ellen Stager - Mrs. Ellen Stager, 79, of 8 Onward Ave., who had lived in Kitchener for the past eight years, died today at the K-W Hospital. In 1896 she married the late Allen Stager, who died in 1933. She spent most of her life in Wilmot Township. Surviving are two sons, Vinton and Arden, both of Kitchener; three daughters, Mrs. Clarice Cressman, Mrs. Norman Duench and Miss Inez Stager, all of Kitchener; one brother, Hymen Brighton, Toronto; one sister Mrs. Adelia Bechtel, New Dundee; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the funeral will be held Tuesday at 1: 30 pm followed by a service at the Blenheim Mennonite Church at 2: 30. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

ADAM A. BRIGHTON

NEW DUNDEE, Aug. 20, Adam Alexander Brighton, a lifelong resident of this district, passed away at his home in New Dundee yesterday following an illness of three years.
Mr. Brighton was born in Kitchener on Nov. 26, 1878, son of Mrs. C. Brighton Walker and the late Aaron Brighton, and was in his 64th year. He was married to Martha Kavelman in 1906 and took up residence in New Dundee.
Mr. Brighton was a mason by trade, later being engaged in trucking for the local creamery, He was a faithful member of the St. James' Lutheran Church of this village and a regular attendant at all services as long as health permitted.
He was secretary-treasurer of the Lutheran Sunday School for 16 years and resigned owing to his impaired health. He was also a member of the New Dundee Musical Band.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Lorne, and one daughter, Mrs. Gordon Lee (Helen), both of New Dundee five grandchildren. his mother two sisters, Mrs. Allan Stager of Tavistock and Mrs. Mervin Bechtel of New Dundee, and three brothers Albert and Abner of Preston and Hymmen of Toronto.
The funeral will take place from his late residence on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock to St. James Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery. New Dundee

Abner Brighton
PRESTON, June 11 - The death of Abner Brighton, 80, occurred at the Freeport Sanatorium early today. A resident of Preston, he had been confined to the sanatorium for ten years. Born in Wilmot Township, Mr. Brighton resided in Hespeler and Toronto for short periods before taking up residence in Preston 28 years ago. He had been employed as a cabinet maker in the Canada Office and School Furniture Ltd., before taking ill. He was a member of the Evangelical Church. Surviving lure his wife, the former Ida Langridge, Preston, and two sisters, Mrs. Allan Stager, Tavistock, and Mrs. Mervin Bechtel, New Dundee. A daughter, Jean Marie, died in infancy. The remains are resting at the Stager-Pass Ltd. Funeral Home where the service will be held Thursday at 2: 30. Interment will be made in the Preston Cemetery.

New Hamburg - Mrs. Curtis Cressman, wife of Mennonite Bishop Cressman of RR I, New Hamburg, died Thursday in St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. She was 72.
The former Clarice Stager was born March 25, 1897, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allan Stager. She lived in this district most of her life.
Surviving besides her husband, are three sons, Lester in Ohio, Irvin of Kitchener and Howard of RR 1, New Hamburg; three daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Lillian) Bean of RR 1, New Dundee, Mrs. Michael (Vera) Miller of Kitchener and Elsie Cressman of Tanzania in Africa; one brother, Arden of Kitchener; two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Verne) Duench and Inez Stager of Kitchener; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Cressman was predeceased by her first husband, Amos Cressman, one stepdaughter and one brother.
The body will be at the Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home noon, Saturday, until noon, Monday, when removal will be made to the Conservative Mennonite Church for services at 3 p.m. with Rev Elmer Grove officiating. Burial will be in Biehn Mennonite cemetery in Wilmot Township.

Ruby was a lifelong faithful member of New Dundee Baptist Church where she served as Clerk for 40 years and was also a Dominion Life Member of the Baptist Women's Missionary Society. She has had a keen interest in the children of the church and community. The joy of her life was serving her Lord in her church and her family. She will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, her church and her neighbours. MILLER, Vera It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our wife, mother and grandmother, Vera Ellen Miller (nee Cressman) in her 81st year, peacefully, on Friday, July 22, 2011. Vera will be greatly missed by her husband and best friend Mike Miller. They stood side by side with over 52 years of happiness, raising their family and living their life. Predeceased by her brothers Lester Cressman and Irvin Cressman. Vera was born in East Zorra Township on August 25, 1930. Never at a loss for words, always quick to give directions, Vera's life was simple, full and always entertaining. Her every action was selfless as she was more concerned with the well-being of others more than herself. Vera devoted much of her time and energy to her family. As the kids grew up her need to see to others found her taking on the role as a school crossing guard and a Red Cross homemaker. Still wanting to do more, Vera spent countless hours with the Twin City Spinners, gaining the nickname, "Ma Spinner." She was inducted into the Spinners Hall of Fame in 2009. She also enjoyed socializing and playing cards at the Breithaupt Centre. Vera was a devoted member TOPS, and proudly attained the title of KOP! With great sadness but wonderful memories, his family announces that Richard Poth passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Mathews House Hospice in Alliston, Ontario, at the age of 71. Richard will be missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce, three children, Brian (Lisa), Cheryl (Damian) and Andrea (Dennis) and grandchildren Anna, Thomas, Madison, Jacob and Avery.

They had 3 children, Brian, Cheryl and Andrea \endash and together successfully balanced parenthood with marriage, work and many, many community activities.
Richard joined Ralston Purina after graduating from the University of Guelph and becoming a proud "Aggie". He worked for Purina in progressive roles over 38 years, retiring as Executive VP of Finance and Administration in 2003.
Richard lived a busy life, full of curiosity, generosity and kindness, actively participating in local community groups, churches and charities. Beyond work and helping others, his other enduring passion has been travel, visiting every Province and State and over 50 countries. Richard's curiosity and interest in sharing new experiences, meeting new people, and seeing new things was never satisfied.
Thanks to Princess Margaret Hospital, local Alliston-based community health care workers and Mathews House Hospice who helped Richard through his brief and courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Richard will be missed dearly by the many family and friends he has positively impacted and will always be in our hearts and memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages/directs donations to any of the following: Mathews House Hospice, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or St. John's UC Foundation.
A celebration of Richard's life will take place at Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria Street E., Alliston on Sunday January 10, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a time of reflections shared at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception. www.druryfuneralcentre.com
