He has the most improved facilities for photos up to 14 x 17 inches. makes a specialty of colored and outdoor work and has a large trade in bromides. He enjoys an extensive patronage throughout the townships of Wilmot, Wellesley, North Easthope, Zorra and the villages round about. Mr. John Lautenschlager Passed Away - Another of New Hamburg's well known business men passed away in the person of Mr. John Lautenschlager, who died at his home on Christmas day at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 26 days. He had been in failing health for the past two years as a result of a partial stroke of paralysis which had its resultant effect. The deceased was a resident of New Hamburg for 39 years, coming here as a young man and starting a photography business which he conducted until ill health compelled him to retire. He was active in sports of all kinds and especially in football and lawn bowling in which he took great interest. The deceased was born at Petersburg, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Lautenschlager. He was married to Elizabeth Rau, daughter of Mr. Christopher Rau of this town. To this union were born eight children of whom six survived. Two daughters, Clara and Alice predeceased him. There are left to mourn him besides his sorrowing widow, seven grandchildren, three sons and three daughters, namely, Thomas, George and Mrs. Burton Lederman, of Kitchener, James, Mae and Margaret at home. He also leaves three brothers and one sister. The deceased was a devout adherent of the Lutheran faith and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon from his late home. Public service was held in the church by his pastor, Rev. Mr. Mosig, and a large circle of friends attended. Friends and relatives from Detroit, Toronto, Hamilton, Waterloo, Kitchener, Petersburg, New Dundee, Plattsville and the surrounding were here for the funeral. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community in their sad loss.

Peter Lautenschlager

The death took place at the home of his brother at Petersburg on Friday, Nov. 12th, of Mr. Peter Lautenschlager, of Toronto, at the age of 48 years, 8 months and 3 days. He was taken ill at Toronto with neuritis four weeks ago. The deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lautenschlager and was born at Petersburg, where he spent his boyhood. He learned telegraph operating at the Petersburg station, and after being located at Breslau and New Hamburg for a few years, he was transferred from here to the Guelph station in 1892. Several years later he was appointed G. T. R. agent at Swansea, where he resided for a number of years. About ten years ago he moved to Toronto, where he bought a business block on corner of Bloor and Albany street and carried on a large retail shoe business up to the time of his death. He was an enterprising business man and enjoyed the acquaintance of a large circle of friends. The deceased was a good musician and a noted singer, having been a former member of Dr. Vogt's choir of Toronto. The late Mr. Lautenschlager was unmarried, but is survived by five brothers and two sisters, namely: Adam, George, William, and Mrs. Henry Weppler and Miss Dolly, of Petersburg; John, of New Hamburg, and Henry, of Kitchener. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon from the home of Mr. William Lautenschlager to the Petersburg cemetery. Services were conducted in the Lutheran Church by Rev. Battenberg, of Wellesley, assisted by Rev. Dupernell, of Petersburg, and Rev. Hahn, pastor of the Lutheran Church in Toronto, of which the deceased had been a valued member. The funeral was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends including Mr. Hunt, of Toronto, and Miss Holt an employee in the deceased's store.

Coronary thrombosis brought about the death on Monday, May 7, of Alfred (Fred) Weppler at 115 Benton St., residence of his sister, Mrs. Gordon Flowers, with whom he made his home. He was 54 years old. He had been ill for two years. Born on Sept. 29, 1890, at Petersburg, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weppler (nee Katherine Lautenschlager). He came to the city three years ago to work as a service man and salesman at the International Harvester Co. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frank Martin and Mrs. Flowers, both of Kitchener. The funeral will be held publicly tomorrow from the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home at 2: 3 0 p.m. with church services at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg, at three o'clock. Stanley H. Lautenchlager, a Waterloo garage mechanic for more than 50 years who built a fully-operative miniature threshing machine 10 years ago, died today at the K-W Hospital after a long illness. He was 71. Mr. Lautenschlager, who lived at 21 Elgin St., Waterloo, took six months to build his $1,000 toy, machining some of the parts within a 1,000th of an inch with the precision of a watchmaker. He began his career as a mechanic with Dobbin's Garage and later established his own business, Stan's Garage, at King and William Streets where the First United Church now stands.

He was born at Petersburg on April 13, 1896, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lautenschlager. He lived in Waterloo for 50 years and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymen's League and the Mr. and Mrs. club of the church. He was also a member of the Ontario Steam and Antique Preservers Association.

He is survived by his wife, the former Edith Wagner, whom he married in Wellesley June 18, 1924; three brothers, Frederick and Eric of Kitchener and Welland of Petersburg; one sister, Mrs. Edwin (Flora) Huras of Kitchener and one granddaughter, Heather Devlin.

He was predeceased by one son, William, and two daughters, Mrs. Doris Devlin and Marie.

The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home after noon Sunday, and until noon Tuesday when removal will be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church for the service at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Gerald Scholz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Petersburg cemetery.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lutheran Home for Emotionally Disturbed Boys will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

GEORGE A. LAUTENSCHLAGER

The third brother of his family to pass away in little more than a month, George A. Lautenschlager of New Hamburg died of a heart attack at his home December 21.

He was a brother of Thomas who died November 12, and James, Police Chief at Kitchener, who died November 17.

The late Mr. Lautenschlager was born at New Hamburg, June 29, 1899, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lautenschlager.

He operated the Maple Leaf tourist camp at New Hamburg for more than 38 years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Roth, whom he married In New Hamburg in 1935; three sisters, Mrs. Burton (Ida) Lederman and Mrs. Frederick (Margaret) Strome, both of Kitchener and Mrs. Herbert (Mae) Hamel of Oshawa. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Alice and Clara.

The service was conducted at Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home December 23 by Rev. N.A. Keffer of Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial was In Riverside Cemetery.

Entered into the hands of the Lord on February 28, 2012 at the Village of Winston Park, Kitchener, with his family at his side. Lloyd was born in Petersburg, Ontario where he lived until he married his wife Helen when they moved to Kitchener where they began their family together. Predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Seyler) in July 2007. Beloved father of Larry and wife Carole of Elmira, Judy Mundell and husband John of Orillia. Former founder and owner of Acme Auto Body in Kitchener for many years. Lloyd was a long time and faithful member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Historical Automobile Society of Canada.

Separate funeral services will be conducted Monday for the three dead in yesterday's shooting at Waterloo Spring Company, Ltd.

Services for Donald Huras, 27, and Frederick Beilstein, 41, will be conducted in the afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. Arthur Eissfeldt.

The body of Mr. Beilstein will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 11 am Monday when it will be removed to the church where friends may pay their respects until the service at 2 pm. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.

The body of Mr. Huras will be at the same funeral home until Monday at 2 pm. The service will be at the church at 3:30 pm. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.

Both Mr. Huras and Mr. Beilstein were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Erla loved her family very much and was actively involved in their lives. She was the matriarch of the family and will be truly missed by all.
A family memorial service was held on Wednesday, August 1, 2001. Cremation with interment in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
