DEATH OF A HIGHLY RESPECTED RESIDENT - On Monday Mrs. H. M. Brubacher passed away at the age of 62 years. The deceased had been ill for some time but had only been confined to her bed for a week previous to her death. A family of twelve children survive, eight daughters and four sons, to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, who have the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends. Israel merchant at Elmira, Solomon, Berlin, formerly merchant at Elmira, are sons, and Mrs. Levi Brubacher, and Mrs. A. M. Brubacher, of Elmira, are daughters. The funeral took place from her late residence, King street, to Conestogo meeting house, and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.

Elias Brubacher - Elias A. Brubacher, a Wallenstein district farmer for 40 years died early Wednesdays February 26, at the K-W Hospital after a lingering illness. He was 85.

Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brubacher, Mr. Brubacher was born at Chicopee. He lived in the Baden district for 40 years before moving to the Wallenstein area.

His wife predeceased him in 1930 and he is survived by two sons, Henry W. and Amos W., both of Wallenstein and four daughters, Mrs. Elias (Maryann) Weber, RR 4, Elmira; Mrs. Mannasseh (Susannah) Weber, RR 3, Wallenstein; Mrs. Amos (Lucinda) Frey, RR 1, Wallenstein; and Mrs. Menno (Lavina) Martin, Clinton. Thirty-one grandchildren and five sisters also survive.

The funeral was conducted Friday at 9 o'clock at the residence, RR 3, Wallenstein. Service followed at the Peel Mennonite Meeting House. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. The body rested at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor until Thursday at 1 o'clock when removal was made to the residence.

Elias A. Brubacher

Elias A. Brubacher, a former resident of Baden died at the Kitchener- Waterloo Hospital on Wednesday at the age of 86 years following a lengthy illness. The late Mr. Brubacher, who was born near Preston, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brubacher, farmed in the Wallenstein district for the past 40 years, and previously resided in Baden, where he operated a woollen mill for a number of years. His wife predeceased him in 1930, and he is survived by two sons, Henry W. and Amos W. of Wallenstein; and four daughters, Mrs. Elias Weber, R. R. 4 Elmira; Mrs. Manasseh Weber, R.R. 3 Wallenstein; Mrs. Amos Fry,R.R.1 Wallenstein; and Mrs. Menno Martin, Clinton. The funeral will be conducted Friday forenoon at his residence, R.R.3 Wallenstein and service in the Peel Meeting House. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

MRS. SUSANNAH FREY

Mrs. Susannah Frey, 83, of RR 3, Wallenstein, died Saturday, June 16 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was the former Susannah Brubacher, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brubacher of Baden.
She married Levi Frey in 1904 at St. Jacobs and he predeceased her. They farmed at Hawkesville until his death.
Mrs. Frey was a member of the Old Order Mennonites.
Surviving are two sons, Abraham and Levi of RR 3, Wallenstein; five daughters, Mrs. Matthias (Lydia) Martin of Hawkesville, Mrs. Jesse (Annie) Weber of RR 2, Wallenstein, Mrs. Onias (Susannah) Wideman of RR 1, Waterloo, Mrs. Orilas (Lena) Weber of RR 4, Elmira, and Mrs. Emerson (Elizabeth) Weber of RR 1, Atwood; four sisters, Mrs. Katherine Bowman and Rebecca of Preston; Mrs. Martin Bowman and Amanda of Elmira; 41 grand children and three great-grandchildren.
The body was at the Levi Frey residence, RR 3, Wallenstein, where the funeral was conducted at 9 a.m. (Standard Time) Tuesday, followed by service at South Peel Mennonite Church at 10 a.m. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

ELMIRA, Jan. 5.-After a lengthy illness at the Elmira Private Hospital the death occurred today of Miss Maryann Brubacher, 69. She was born in Waterloo Township, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brubacher, and had been a resident of Elmira for the past 40 years.

She is survived by two brothers Elias and Henry of Hawkesville, and six sisters, Mrs. Abraham (Catherine) Bowman, Preston; Mrs. Martin (Magdalena) Bowman, Floradale; Mrs. Levi (Sussanna) Frey, Hawkesville; and Miss Lydia and Miss Rebecca Brubacher and Mrs. Levi (Amanda) Brubacher, all of Elmira.

One sister, Mrs. Josiah (Annie) Brubacher, and two brothers, Israel and Solomon, predeceased her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral-Chapel and public services at the Elmira Mennonite Church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

The body now rests at the funeral home.

BOWMAN, Henry B.

Professional Engineer called home to be with his Lord, Henry, son of the late Abraham and Catherine Brubacher Bowman of Elmira and Cambridge, age 91 years. He had been a resident of Cambridge, for many years and of Fairview Home, since 1982. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and sister in infancy, his first wife, Ruby Hallman Bowman. He is survived by his second wife the former Edna Hunsperger. Henry was in the first graduating class of Elmira and District Secondary School after which he was apprenticed as a machinist at the Dominion Rubber Machinery Shop, where the late John A. Cressman, was his superior. During these years he also took International Correspondence courses to qualify as a professional engineer. He worked at Link-Belt in Elmira and J.C. Klaehn & Bernal Jones in Kitchener, before coming to the Canadian Office and School Furniture, where the late P. R. Hilborn was his employer and became his personal friend. At Fairview he took Whittling under the late William Walton. Other retirement interests were K-W Field Naturalists and he served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Waterloo Historical Society for a number of years. Church and foreign missions were very important to him and the Old Order, Mennonite, Bethany & Evangel Missionary and Wanner Mennonite all benefited by his support. A Private Graveside Service will be held at First Mennonite Cemetery, Kitchener. Friends will be received at the Fairview Home, Saturday, September 7th, 1991, from 7 - 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be conducted at Wanner Mennonite Church, Cambridge Sunday, September 8th, at 3: 00 p.m.

Brubacker. - Noah Brubacker was born June 30, 1904; died at the home of his father-in-law neat Elmira, Ont., Dec. 23, 1931; aged 27 y. 5 m. 23 d. He was united in marriage to Nancy Hoffman. He departed this world, leaving to mourn, his beloved wife, parents, 1 brother, and 5 sisters. His death was caused by paralysis which had stricken him helpless for eight months. He had suffered a great deal in this time, but bore it all patiently until the reaper came that day. He was a faithful member of the Mennonite church, remaining true until death. Funeral services were held Dec. 25, 1931, at the South Peel church, Ont., conducted by Bros. Jessie and Henry Bowman. May God comfort the bereaved sister who so patiently attended him during his illness.

Mrs. Martin died suddenly Monday at her home from a stroke.

Born in Hawkesville, she was the former Lydia Frey, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Levi Frey.

Son Steven and Theresa (Fehr) Frey, (Carol Barclay) and Steve's children James and Jessica (Gerbrandt) Frey; Diana (Frey) and Nathan Stahl; Laura (Frey) and Dustin Reimer and grandchildren Ariel and Jude Frey; Theodore and William Reimer; and Josephine Stahl; as well as Theresa's children Jarrod, Beth and Aaron and Beth's son Rowan Fehr. MARTIN, Salinda (Bowman) December 31, 1928 - July 29, 2010 Salinda put down her knitting needles for the last time at 11 p.m. on Thursday evening at Caressant Care, Listowel. Wife of the late Amos G. Martin (1994). Daughter of the late Levi and Hannah (Martin) Bowman. Mom made many slippers and blankets for all her children, Betty (Ray) Faulkner, James (Mildred) Martin, Helen (Doug) Mank, Ruth (Art) Bogue, Sandra (Bill) Pawlitzki, David (Gloria) Martin, Fred Martin and Penny, Sherry (Stephane) Martin-Legault. Slippers also provided to her 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Priscilla (Knechtel) Yanke, Saloma Merritt, Orvie Bowman, Leonard Bowman, Edna Vandenberg, Carol Shantz and Grace Bowman. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Elmira Pentecostal Assembly, 290 Arthur St. S., Elmira, on Monday, August 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hansley Armoogan and Rev. Ray Faulkner officiating followed by interment in Elmira Union Cemetery. Went to meet her Lord peacefully, at Heritage House in St. Jacobs, on March 25, 2007, at the age of 77 years. Predeceased by her husband Alfred Knechtel in 1997 and her husband Roy Yanke in 2004. Dear mother of Sharon Leis (Bruce) of Moorefield, Charmaine McKay (Alvin) of Belmont, Wayne Knechtel (Cathy) of Bloomingdale and Mark Knechtel (Crystal) of Waterloo. Also survived by her step-children, Sandy Scott (Doug), Terry Yanke (Heather), Glenn Yanke (Sally), Stu Yanke (Chris) and Linda Morris. Grandmother of Murray Leis (Janette), James Leis, Robert Leis, Rachel McKay, Joshua Knechtel, Zackery Knechtel and Melody Knechtel; great-grandmother of Alyssa and Ashley Leis. HORST, Paul Richard 1948 - 2015 After a courageous battle with cancer, Paul, of Eby Village, Kitchener, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at age 67. He was the beloved brother of Lauretta Martin of Elmira, Howard and Alice Horst of Hawksville, Daniel and Salema Horst of Gowanstown, Robert and Alma Horst of Thamesville, Ronald and Sharon Horst of Palmerston. He was a special uncle to his many nieces and nephews and always took an interest in their lives. He was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Maryann Horst, brother-in-law Clayton Martin and his nephew Dennis Horst. As a youth he gave his heart to the Lord. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. A special thank you to his Eby Village family, Dr. Stevens, the staff in I.C.U., and the sixth floor oncology at Grand River Hospital for their compassionate care during his illness. Passed away peacefully at Heritage House in St. Jacobs on January 13, 2014, in her 75th year. Beloved mother of son Jan and his wife Tami, and their children, to whom she was a very proud grandmother, Abe and Serena. Survived by her siblings George (Almeda), Marie (Gordon), Emerson (Janice), Susan, Harvey (Mary), Selina (Van), Naomi (Laverne), Anna (Alan), and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Lena, brother Jacob, and her parents Abraham and Melinda Frey. At Judy's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate her life will take place at the Dreisinger Funeral Home Chapel, Elmira, ON, on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11 am. The funeral for Lena Frey, 14, who died suddenly at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Abram Frey, RR #3, Wallenstein, June 1st while drinking a glass of water was held Saturday June 4.

The body was at DreisInger Funeral Home, Elmira, until 8 a.m. Saturday when removal was made to her parents' home. The funeral service was at Hawkesville Mennonite Church at 2:30

Burial was in Hawkesville Union cemetery.

An autopsy was conducted St. Mary's Hospital to determine the cause of her death. Coroner Dr. C. C. Belyea said death was caused by natural causes and no inquest would be held.

Surviving besides her parents are four brothers, George of Kitchener, Jacob of Elmira, Emerson of Waterloo, and Harvey, at home; five slaters, Judity of Vancouver, Susanah of Kitchener, Salina, Naomi and Anna, all at home.
