    Dear sister of Mrs. Oscar (Velina) Baer of New Hamburg, Norman and Oscar, both of St. Jacobs, Mrs. Harold (Lena) Schmitt of New Dundee and Mrs. Irvine (Almeta) Schiedel of Stratford. Two brothers predeceased her.

    Visitation was at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, until Wednesday at noon, when removal was made to the Elmira Mennonite Church for funeral service at 3 pm. Interment Elmira Mennonite Cemetery.

    Baer, Mrs. Velina - On Monday, Oct. 21, 1991, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, after a very brief illness. She resided in New Hamburg and was born in Woolwich Township, 85 years ago, a daughter of the late Norman and Magdalena (nee Bowman) Martin.

    She was a member of Nith Valley Mennonite Church, RR 1, New Hamburg, where she was a member of the WMSC. Velina was a member of Haysville Sunshine Club, a member of the Wilmot Horticultural Society and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening as her hobbies.

    Beloved wife of Oscar Baer, whom she married November 19, 1941.

    Dear mother of Esther and her husband Allan Etchells and Abner, all of Waterloo; lovingly remembered by three grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Chris Perkins, Stephanie and Megan and one great-granddaughter, Sarah. Sadly missed by two brothers, Norman and his wife Gladys Martin, Oscar and his wife Dolores Martin, all of St. Jacobs; two sisters, Lena and her husband Harold Schmitt of Kitchener and Almeda and her husband Irvine Schiedel of Stratford. Velina was predeceased by one brother Melvin and one sister Selinda, and her husband Menno Weber. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, after 7 p.m. this evening (Tuesday) and until Thursday at noon, when transfer will be made to Nith Valley Mennonite Church for the service at 2 p.m. with Past Harold Schilk officiating.

    Interment to follow in the Blenheim Mennonite cemetery.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family will be in attendance at the funeral home on this evening (Tuesday), 7-9 p.m and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

    Passed away at Forest Heights Long Term Care on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the age of 98 years.

    Beloved wife of the late Harold Schmitt (1995).

    Dear mother of Gerald (Faye), Carol Barton (Dennis), Doreen Hill, George, Maynard (Larke), Martha Woods (Tom), Robert (Allison), and Nancy Brown (Jim). Loved grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Dear sister of Almeda Schiedel and sister-in-law of Delores Martin and Ina Schmitt.

    Predeceased by 2 daughters-in-law: Ruth Schmitt and Eunice Schmitt, son-in-law Bob Gurton, and 2 great grandsons: Joshua Minke and Jeno Bujtas. Also predeceased by her other siblings and siblings-in-law.

    Friends will be received at Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, 51 Benton St., Kitchener, (519-742-4481), on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 12:00 \endash 12:45 pm, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Vernon Trafford officiating.

    Interment in Mannheim Mennonite Cemetery.

    MARTIN, Oscar B. Peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2012 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. Oscar, was in his 91st year, of St. Jacobs. Beloved husband of Delores (Snyder) Martin for 60 years. Dear father of Brian John and Judith Martin of Waterloo. Also lovingly remembered by his grandson, Kyle William. Brother of Lena Schmitt of Elmira and Almeda Schiedel of Stratford. Predeceased by his parents, Norman F. and Magdalena Martin, three brothers Melvin, Norman, Oliver in infancy, and two sisters Velina Baer and Selinda Weber. Oscar was an avid walker on the trails in St. Jacobs and worked at B.F. Goodrich Tire Company, Kitchener for 40 years. At Oscar's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral home visitation. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home Chapel, Elmira on Thursday, March 8th at 11: 00 a.m. with Rev. Martin Giebel officiating. In his memory, donations to St. James Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs or Grand River Hospital would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
