    The Passing of Miss Currie

The community was sorely grieved to learn of the death at Morden, Man., on Wednesday last of Miss Agnes Little Currie, third daughter of Mr. Wm. Currie, Ayr, at the age of 29 years. The deceased had gone out west in August last in company with her sister, Miss Jean Currie of Galt, and was visiting with her uncles there when she was taken with typhoid fever, and having a rather delicate constitution was unable to pull through. Previous to going west she had resided with her father here and was very highly respected and esteemed by all who knew her, being a consistent member of Stanley St. church. Her mother predeceased her by about four years and a brother died at Calgary last fall from the same disease. The remaining members of the family in addition to Mr. Currie, are Jean at Galt, Fred at Red deer and Isabell at Winnipeg. The funeral took palce from her father's residence, Willison st., to the Ayr cemetery yesterday afternoon and was quite largely attended, the services being conducted by deceased's pastor, Rev. Mr. Nixon, assisted by Rev. Messrs. Thomson and Card. The pall bearers were: Wm. Little, John Bell, Alex Lillico, Geo. Black, Wm. Bueglass, Douglas Lillico.

    Died in the North West

We sincerely regret to have to record the death at Calgary, N.W.T., on Saturday last, of a young man well-known and highly esteemed in this village and country, in the person of Albert John Currie, second son of Mr. Wm. Currie of Ayr, aged 25 years. The deceased went to the Northwest last spring and engaged in ranching with his brother Fred, who had preceded him some two years. They were doing well and intended becoming permanent settlers. Some three weeks ago, however, Albert contracted typhoid fever and was taken to the Calgary hospital, where he received every attention possible, being visited almost daily by his brother and an aunt, Miss Jane Little, who resided in Calgary. He continued to grow worse, however, and on Saturday passed away somewhat suddenly. The body was brought here for interment, accompanied by deceased's brother, and the funeral takes place to Ayr cemetery this (Thursday) afternoon. Albert John was an exemplary young man and a host of friends in and about Ayr, his birthplace, will deeply regret his demise. The father, sisters and brother who survive - his mother having predeceased him some 2-1/2 years - will have the sympathy of the entire community. One sister, Isabella, resides in Winnipeg, Jane in Galt and Agnes at home. The funeral takes place at 2.30 from the residence of deceased's uncle, Mr. John Currie, and will doubtless be largely attended.
