    Notes:

    Gingerich, Catherine, daughter of Christian and Anna (Brenneman) Steinman, was born near New Hamburg, Ont., Nov. 5, 1886; died at Coatts Pavilion, Freeport, Ont., May 26, 1973; aged 86 y. 6 m. 21 d. She was married to Benjamin Gingerich, who preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1958. Surviving are 2 sons (Eldon and Melvin), 4 daughters (Elvera - Mrs. Moses S. Roth, Marian - Mrs. Isaiah Gingerich, Alma - Mrs. Lloyd Roth, and Christine - Mrs. Floyd Steinman). She was a member of Steinman's Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on May 29, in charge of Vernon Zehr and Elmer Schwartzentruber; interment in adjoining cemetery.

    Passed away peacefully on Saturday January 14, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Christina resided at Nithview Community. She was born 95 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Katie (Steinman) Gingerich.

    Beloved wife of the late Floyd Steinmann who predeceased her in 1973. Loving mother of Barb and Bruce Schumm, Brian and Karen Steinmann all of New Hamburg. Loving grandmother of Kevin (Jayne), Amy, David, Christine (Gerry), Jessica (Kevin), Jalyssa (Ryan), Jake (Kelly) and her great-grandchildren Preston, Quinn, Bennett, Logan, Mason and Natalie. Christina was predeceased by her son Burton in 1970, sisters and brothers Elvera and Mose Roth, Marion and Isaiah Gingerich, Eldon and Eva Gingerich, Alma and Lloyd Roth, Melvin and Dorothy Gingerich and sister-in-law Idella and Arthur Baechler.

    Christina was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden and attended chapel at Nithview Community.

    Friends and relatives will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg today Monday January 16, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden with Pastor Myrna Miller Dyck officiating. Interment to follow in Steinmann Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Steinmann Mennonite Church or Nithview Community.

    Eileen Mae (Roth) Bender passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at her residence, Nithview Community, New Hamburg.

    Eileen was born 83 years ago on May 30, 1936 in North Easthope Township, a daughter of the late Moses and Elvera (Gingerich) Roth.

    Cherished and loving mother and grandmother of David Bender and wife Lisa Richardson and their children Dalton, Claire and Blaine; Kris Wagler and her children Kaitlin (Travis), Brendan (Samantha); and Jennifer Bender and her partner Joanne Perschbacher.

    Eileen is survived by her sister Marianne Schlegel, brother Armand Roth and his wife Liz, son-in-law Tim Wagler, sisters-in-law Sandra Roth, Nodaine Bender and Irene Bender as well as by her many nieces and nephews.

    Eileen is now reunited with her beloved husband Ezra Bender, who predeceased her on October 17, 1997. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law; Ray Schlegel, Melvin Bender (Mabel), Reuben Bender (Alice), Elton Bender (Elda), Verda Bender, Curtis Bender, Fanny Gingerich (Reuben), Mary Gingerich (Curtis) and Ervin Bender.

    Eileen was a longtime faithful member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden. She was an active member of the New Hamburg business community, especially when she owned and operated the Town Pantry. Eileen valued the art of home making, spending time with her children and grandchildren was of utmost importance. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and farm life.

    Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. The memorial service will take place on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church, 1316 Snyder's Road, Baden, with Pastors Steve Drudge and Sara Erb officiating. Interment to take place in Steinmann Mennonite Church Cemetery in the spring.

    LEIGHTON GINGERICH By Record Correspondent

    HAYSVILLE, Nov. 18.- Funeral service for Leighton Gingerich, Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Gingerich of Southwest Wilmot, who died Friday, was held this afternoon at Steinman's Amish-Mennonite church, Baden. Bishop Mosos Jantzi officiated. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

    The child had been ill a week with pneumonia. He was two months and 31 days of age. Surviving are hie parents, a brother, Stanley and two sisters. Catherine and Margaret, all at home.

She was an active volunteer who served on numerous boards and supported female leadership in the Mennonite church and broader community. Her pioneering spirit, zest for life, gracious friendship and commitment to peace and justice enriched those around her and will live on for years to come.     Steinman.- Burton Boss, son of Floyd and Christine (Gingerich) Steinman, was born Aug. 23, 1949; died at St. Marys Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., a few hours after a car accident, Nov. 13, 1970; aged 21 y. 2 m. 20 d. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother (Brian), one sister (Barbara Ann), and his grandmother (Catharine Gingerich). He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held Nov. 17, in charge of Emanuel Steinman, Albert Zehr, and Elmer Schwartzentruber; interment in the Steinman Church Cemetery.
