    Notes:

    It is with regret that we chronicle the death this week of Catharine Berg, which took place at the home of her sister in-law, Mrs. Henry Berg, at Baden. Interment took place in the Lutheran cemetery here on Monday afternoon. The deceased spent most of her life on a farm near the village and had reached the age of 72 years. She was an invalid and unable to walk the greater part of her life.

    Notes:

    PETER BERG, son cf Henry and Elizabeth Berg, was born at Philipsburg Feb. 14th, 1860. He was brought up on the old homestead and educated at the Philipsburg common school. The farm is situated on Lot 18, south of Erb's Road, and was cleared in part by his grandfather, who settled on the farm in 1837. Henry Berg, father of the present owner, took possession on March 7th, 1848. Peter Berg subsequently secured the farm on March 22nd, 1889, and engaged in mixed farming. He held the position of school trustee from 1900 to 1904, and was elected a councillor for Wilmot Township by acclamation 1905 to 1906.

    Peter Berg, aged 65, of Shantz Station, passed away after an illness of three months, at his home on January 30th. The deceased is survived by his wife and five children. They are Fred of Kitchener, Alex and Conrad of Philipsburg, William of Shantz Station, and Louise, Mrs. Reinhardt Heldman of New Hamburg.

    The funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd, from the home of his son, Alex, at Philipsburg. Following service in the Lutheran Church interment will be made in the Lutheran cemetery.

    Notes:

    GADSILL - Mrs. Henry Neeb, 90, of North Easthope Township died Sunday at Stratford Hospital. The former Catherine Berg, she was born at North Easthope, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Berg. She was a member of the 1st St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wellesley, and of the church's ladies aid. She was predeceased by her husband in 1947, and also by one daughter, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are three sons, Henry and Clarence, both of North Easthope and John of Gadshill; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Mary) Fleischauer, of Stratford; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Futher Funeral Home, Wellesley, until 1 pm Wednesday, when removal will be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for service at 3 pm, conducted by Rev. O. Brillinger of New Hamburg. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

    A former stationary engineer at Waterloo Manufacturing Co., Ltd, Henry Emmanuel Berg, 85, of 112 Cameron St. N. died Saturday at Coutts Memorial Pavilion after a lengthy illness.

    A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Berg, he was born in Wellesley and lived in Kitchener for the past 28 years. He was a member of St John's Lutheran Church.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Frieda Kuhr, whom he married in Hespeler on Sept. 15, 1929, one son, Howard, Kitchener; one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Helen) Schaefer, Waterloo; three brothers, Albert and Conrad of New Hamburg, and Allan, Wellesley; two sisters, Mrs. George (Elizabeth) Zinn of RR 2, Stratford, and Mrs. Louis (Mary) Ottman, Wellesley, and one grandson.

    The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon on Tuesday when removal will be made to St. John's Lutheran Church for the service at 2 p.m. Rev. A. L. Conrad will officiate. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.

    BADEN\emdash Residents of Baden and vicinity were shocked to learn of the death of Miss Irene Berg on Sunday evening. February 11th. Although the late Miss Berg had been in failing health for the past year, because of heart trouble. Her many friends were stunned to learn of her early demise at the age of thirty-four years. Miss Irene Berg was a daughter of Mrs. Henry Berg and the late Mr. Berg and was born in Philipsburg on March 31st, 1905. Besides her sorrowing mother she is survived by one brother Mr. Mel Berg of Kitchener. The late Miss Berg was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and always took an active interest in all its various branches. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from the home of her mother at 1.30 o'clock.

Ralph had worked for the City of Waterloo in the 1950s and 1960s and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg, where he had been on church council and sang in the choir. Ralph was a member of the New Hamburg Band and enjoyed singing and working with stained glass as his hobbies. Lovingly remembered by one brother, Lloyd and his wife Doris of Waterloo; one brother-in-law, Milton Reibling of RR 2, Baden; four nephews, Douglas and Burton Reibling, Alan and his wife Beverly Berg, Fred and his wife JoAnn Berg; two nieces, Sharon and her husband Robert Clarke and Sherry Berg. Also remembered by eight grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

    Ralph was predeceased by one sister, Ruby Reibling and one brother, Douglas in infancy.

    Suddenly, on Thursday, March 24, 1994, at K-W Hospital, Kitchener, Horace Berg, of Kitchener and formerly of Philipsburg.

    He was born in Wilmot township 74 years ago, a son of the late Alexander and Elmina (Lantz) Berg. He had worked at E & E Seegmiller Construction Company, Kitchener, for 28 years prior to retirement and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg.

    Horace will always be remembered by a number of cousins and friends.

    Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, after 7 p.m. this evening (Friday) and until tomorrow (Saturday, March 26, 1994) at noon when transfer will be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg for the service at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Ronald Leonard officiating. Spring burial in the church cemetery.

Vera was born in Wilmot Township, a daughter of the late Reinhardt Heldman and former Louise Berg. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Becker who predeceased her in 1990. Loving mother of Barbara Becker of New Hamburg, David Becker of St. Thomas, Peter Becker of Grand Bend and Edward Becker of New Hamburg. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Nyle and Ingrid Heldman of Barrie and Eileen McIntyre of Elmira. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by brother Roland Heldman and first wife Rose and second wife Ruby, sister Anna and Herb Gifford, brothers-in-law Harvey and Florence Becker, Bruce McIntyre, sister-in-law Lillian and Nelson Seyler. Vera was an active and involved member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. She enjoyed volunteering with numerous organizations on New Hamburg and area. She loved her gardens and her flowers. Visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 3357 Erb's Road, Philipsburg on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Joanna Miller officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
