Mrs. John R. Mohr

A highly esteemed and beloved resident of the Philipsburg district passed away on Tuesday noon, April 23rd, in the person of Mrs. Mohr, (beloved wife of Mr. John R. Mohr at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 23 days. Mrs. Mohr had been in failing health for about a year, but had been seriously ill only a short time. Mr. and Mrs. Mohr celebrated their golden wedding exactly one month previous to her demise, on March 23rd last, when all the children were present for the celebration.

Mrs. Mohr whose maiden name was Anna Catharine Lantz, was born in North Easthope on January 31st, 1858. Following her marriage fifty years ago they resided on a farm in North Easthope for 9 years and 41 years ago moved to Philipsburg where she resided since. She leaves in bereavement her husband, three sons and three daughters, 'besides ten grandchildren. The children are Edwin, of North Easthope, (Minnie) Mrs. Ed. Bender, Elmira, Herbert, of South Easthope, Otillia and Clayton on the homestead and (Edna) Mrs. Millus Cook, Gravel Road. One son predeceased her 41 years ago.

The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon from her late home. After a short service at the house at 1.45 p.m. a service will be held in Oetzel's Evangelical Church and interment will be made in Oetzel's cemetery. Rev. Mr. Bender, ipastor of the church, will have charge of the services.

Mrs. John R. Mohr

The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at the house at 1.45 of Mrs. John R. Mohr, whose death occurred Tuesday afternoon following a lingering illness at her home near Philipsburg. Services will be held at the Oetzel Evangelical church at 2.30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Bender will officiate. Interment will be made in cemetery adjoining church.

She was 78 years of age and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lantz, of North Easthope, Mr. and Mrs. Mohr celebrated their golden wedding about a month ago.

The late Mrs. Mohr is survived by her husband, three sons, Edward of North Easthope, Herb, near Shakespeare and Clayton at home; three daughters, Mrs. Ed. Bender, of Elmira, Mrs. Milus Cook, of South Easthope, and Otilla at home and 10 grandchildren.

Minnie Bender

Funeral service was conducted Monday at Trinity United Church, Elmira, for the former Minnie Mohr of Elmira. She died Friday at K-W Hospital at the age of 82.

Burial was in Elmira Cemetery.

She was predeceased by her husband Edwin Bender in 1971 and was also predeceased by a brother and a sister.

Surviving are brothers Herbert of RR1 Stratford and Clayton of RR2 Baden and a sister Edna (Mrs. Millus Cook) of Shakespeare.

MOHR, Walter - On Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Walter Mohr, of New Hamburg. He had farmed in the Philipsburg area prior to retiring to New Hamburg and was born in Wilmot Township 70 years ago a son of the late Clayton and Vera (Snyder) Mohr. He was a member of Zion United Church, New Hamburg. Walter was Superintendent of the Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg for over 10 years. Beloved husband of the former Dorothy Wilhelm. Loving brother of Donald and his wife Muriel of RR 2, Baden and Idella Mohr of Kitchener. Ever remembered by a brother-in-law, Walter Wilhelm and his wife Edna of RR 2, Baden. He will also be missed by nephews, nieces and numerous friends. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg, today (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Friday, transfer will be made to Zion United Church, New Hamburg for the service at 2 p.m., with Pastor R. Thaler officiating. Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg.
