    George Ebel

    George Ebel, a well-known resident of Erbsville, died on Monday, August 7th, after an illness of four years, in his 72nd year. He was born in Deben Kries, Alsfeldt, Germany, and came to Canada in 1884. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Thuroo, of near Erbsville. The funeral will be held from the Letter and Dreisinger Funeral Chapel this Thursday at 2 o'clock, thence to Erbsville Lutheran church. Interment will be made at Erbsville Lutheran cemetery.

    Mrs. William Thuroo - A resident of Waterloo since 1946, Mrs. William (Wilhelmina) Thuroo, 73, of 23 Marshall St. died today at K-.W Hospital following a lengthy illness. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Ebel, she was born June 13, 1892 in Wilmot Township. She had lived with her husband in the Erbsville area prior to moving to Waterloo. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Her husband died in April, 1962. She is survived by five sons, Oscar of Elmira, Edgar of Winnipeg, Eldon and Orland of Richdale, Alta., and Elmer of St. Clements; five daughters. Mrs. Clarence (Olga) Borscht of RR 3, Waterloo, Mrs. John (Elva ) Sweich Jr., of Kitchener, Mrs. William (Olena) Lautenschlager of Waterloo, Mrs. John (Oma) Ferrira of San Antonio, Tex., and Era, at home, and 38 grandchildren. One daughter and two sisters predeceased her. The body will be at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, after noon Saturday until noon Monday when removal will be made to the Chapel of St. John's Lutheran Church where Rev. A. L. Conrad will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.

    Beloved husband of the late Gertrude (Mattusch) Thuroo (Feb. 17, 1997). Dear father of Bill and Dianne of Elmira and Roger and Kathleen of Wawanesa, Manitoba. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Nancy, Pamela, Samantha, Alexandra, Kent and Jasmine and great-grandson, James. Brother of Edgar, Elva and Clarence, Kreller, Era, Olena and William Lautenschlager, Orland and Catherine Oma and John Ferria.

    Predeceased by his parents, William and Wilhomena (Ebel) Thuroo; two sisters, Olga and Ona; two brothers, Eldon and Elmer.
    Oscar was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas during the war. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 469, Elmira.

    The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, October 16 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hans Borch officiating, followed by interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Elmira.

She is survived by her husband former Ludlow Selectman John Barracuda Ferreira, their children John Ferreira and his wife Sharon of Fishers, IN Kenneth Ferreira and his wife Wendy of Ludlow., MA Jeffrey Ferreira and his wife Patricia of Port Washington, WI, Kimberley Ferreira and Celeste Ferreira-Harney both of Ludlow, MA. Cherished grandmother of Chandra, Ashley, Anastasia, John, Kristie, Sean, Elizabeth, Joshua, Nicholas, and Maria. Great-grandmother of Andrew and Oliver. Sister of Oscar, Edgar, Elmer, Eldon, and Orland Thuroo, and Elva Kreller, Era Kaufman, Olena Lautenschlager, and Olga Thuroo. Also survived by extended family members and friends.

    Funeral services celebrating her life will be Wednesday July 24, 2013 at 10 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow, MA Rev. Linda Peabody will preside. Rites of committal will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
