George Fink (By Record Correspondent)

WELLESLEY, March 25. - Following a lingering illness of about one year's duration, the death occurred Monday of George Fink at his home. The deceased was one of the oldest residents of Wellesley township, being 80 years, 6 months and 5 days old. The son of Henry Fink and Elisabeth Kaufman, pioneers from Germany, George Fink was born at Hawkesville on Sept. 28, 1850. In 1875 he married Sophia Doursam at Phillipsburg. He was a member of the Conservative party. Besides his wife, three sons William on the homestead; Henry of Neustadt, Charles of Preston, and two daughters, Lillian, Mrs. Miller, of Mount Forest, and Amie at home, survive. One sister, Mrs. Henry Miller of Alberta, also survives. The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon from the late residence at 3 o'clock to the 3^rd line Cemetery where interment will be made. Rev. Mr. Mosig of New Hamburg will be in charge of the services.

George Fink

One of the oldest and highly s teemed residents of Wellesley townhip in the person of George Fink, died at his home on Monday in his 81st year he was in ill health for a year.

Deceased was a son of Henry Fink and Elizabeth Kaufman, pioneers from Germany and born at Hawkesville on Sept. 28, 1850. In 1875 he married Sophia Doersam at Philipsburg

There survive, a wife, three sons, William on the homestead. Henry of Neustadt, Charles of Preston, and two daughters, Lillian, Mrs. Miller, of Mount Forest, and Amie, at home. also one sister, Mrs. Henry Miller of Alberta.

The funeral took place this (Thursday) afternoon from the late resident at 2 o'clock to the 3rd line Cemetery where interement was made. Rev. Mr. Mosig of New Hamburg was in charge of the services.

VICTIM OF GAS POISONING

Mrs. Wm. Pieper Found in Bed in Unconscious Condition, Gas Jet Open.

Mrs. Elizabeth Pieper, wife of the late Wm. Pieper, died at the K-W hospital on Saturday forning[sic] following three days' unconsciousness. Mrs. Pieper retired to bed at her home, 777 West King St., Kitchener, on Tuesday night, in her usual good health. The next morning, a nephew, W.A. Ament, Heins Ave., visited the home and finding the door locked, gained entrance through a cellar window. He detected the odor of gas and found the gas jet in the kitchen had been accidentally left open. Going to Mrs. Pieper's room he found her in bed unconscious. She was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The funeral took place on Monday from Schreiter's Funeral Home to Mount Hope cemetery for interment. The late Mrs. Pieper was born in Hawkesville. After her marriage to William Pieper they lived in Wellesley for many years. She is survived by one son, William F. Pieper, of Detroit, one daughter, Mrs. Milton Zinkan of this city, one brother, George Fink, Wellesley, one sister, Mrs. Henry Miller of Rocky Mountain House, Alta., and 13 grandchildren. Her husband and three sons predeceased her.

Following a long and painful illness from that dreaded disease cancer there passed away at her home in Wellesley on Thursday, Nov. 24th, Catharine Fink, beloved wife of Mr. Robert Sanders, in her 63rd year. Although confined to her bed for five months previous to her death she was a patient sufferer and trusted faithfully in eternal rest. She was married to her surviving husband on Dec. 26th, 1888, the union was blessed with two sons and five daughters; namely: J. H. Sanders, Waterloo, and Robert at home; Alice (Mrs. H. Frankln), Maryboro' Township; Pearl (Mrs. G. Daniells), Windsor; Mary Ann (Mrs. John Duench), Milverton; Ethel (Mrs. H. Underwood), Bridgeport, and Florence at home. Three sons died in infancy. Thirteen grandchildren and three brothers, George, Henry and Duncan Fink and two sisters, Mrs. Pieper and Mrs. H. Miller also survive. She was born in Wellesley Township where she lived all her life and was a devoted member of the Evangelical Church in which she was an earnest worker. As a kind and loving mother the welfare of her family was always to her an important factor. The funeral which was conducted by Rev. Henrich, of North Easthope, took place from the family residence on Sunday, Nov. 27th, to the third line cemetery. The remains were borne to the grave by her son, J. A. Sanders, and five sons-in-law. She is gone from our sight but in our memory she still lives.

WELLESLEY - William D. Fink, 87, of RR 2, Wellesley, died Sunday at Brubacher's Rest Home, St. Jacobs, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Wellesley Township July 20, 1877, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Fink. He farmed on the third Line of Wellesley Township, retiring in 1948. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wellesley.

He is survived by one brother, Henry of London, Ont., and one sister, Annie of New Dundee. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister.

The body is at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home, Wellesley, where the funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 3: 30 pm by Rev. Elmer Oleson of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Temporary entombment in St. Paul's Cemetery Chapel, Wellesley, with interment later in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery.

Charles R. Fink, 68, of 63 Frederick St., died Wednesday in St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Wellesley Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Fink. He lived in Kitchener for 30 years and was formerly employed at Doon Twines, Ltd. He was a member of the Kitchener Senior Citizens Club.

Surviving are his wife, the former Susannah Braun, whom he married in Erbsvile in 918; two sons, Walter of RR2, Wellesley, and Austin of New Hamburg; four daughters, Mrs. Ross (Erma) Brighton, Mrs. Jerome (Ruby) White and Mrs. Gordon (Shirley) Pushelberg, all of Kitchener, and Mrs. Kenneth (Doris) Sittler of St. Jacobs; two brothers, William of RR2, Wellesley, and Henry of London, Ont.; one sister, Annie Fink of New Dundee, 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Lillian Miller, predeceased him.

The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where service will be conducted at 3: 30 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Dr. John Schmieder.

MOSES STEVER By Record Correspondent

LINWOOD - Moses Stever, 70, of Linwood, a noted horseman, died Friday at the K-W Hospital after a short illness. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Stever, he was born in the Linwood district where he spent his entire life. He farmed at RR 1, Linwood, and retired in November, 1960.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church here and served as secretary of the Wellesley School Board, SS 3, for more than 20 years. He also was a delegate to synod for the Lutheran Church for several years.

His marriage to the former Frieda Hahn took place in 1917. She survives.

Other survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Norma) Koch of Gadshill, Mrs. Alfred (Luella) Schenk of Virginia, Mrs. Wilfred (Bernice) Kneisel, and Margaret, both of Waterloo, Mrs. Frank (Merlene) Cerniuk of Guelph and Mrs. William (Irene) Irving of Kitchener, four sons, Frederick of Stayner, Clayton and Murray of Linwood and Clarence of New Hamburg; five sisters, Mrs. Clarence Gies, Mrs. Minnie Ament, Mrs. Lydia Daniels, Mrs. Henry Gerth, all of Kitchener, Mrs. Margaret Eiche of Waterloo; a brother Emmanuel of Mannheim and 16 grandchildren. The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Tuesday at 1 p.m. when removal will be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church for memorial service at 4 p.m. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. AUSTIN E. FINK (AUSSIE)

Peacefully, with family by his side, on Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer, at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Austin Fink, of New Hamburg. He was born in Wellesley 74 years ago, a son of the late Karl (Charlie) and Suzanna (Braun) Fink. Aussie had retired from Uniroyal Goodrich after 33 years of service and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg.

He was an active member fo the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 532, New Hamburg where he had served as First Vice -President and had been a member of the Colour Guard. He had enlisted and served overseas in 1942 with the Royal Canadian Signal Corp during the Second World War.

He was a member of the Restless Seniors, New Hamburg and a past member of the Wilmot Rod and Gun Club. Aussie was an avid golfer and enjoyed darts, cards, bowling and horseshoes as his hobbies. Beloved husband of Eva (formerly Cook & Seftel) Fink who predeceased him, November 13, 1988.

Loving father of Warren and his wife Edie of Mount Forest; lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Tyler Fink, Katie, Mike and Kevin Fink.
Predeceased by his beloved daughter, Judi in 1992. Dear brother of Doris Sittler of St. Jacobs, Ruby White of Kitchener, Irma Brighton of Brussels, Shirley and her husband Gord Pushelberg of Kitchener.

She is survived by her sisters, Doris Sittler and Shirley Pushelberg (husband Gordon). Predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Austin Fink and one sister, Erma Brighton. Ruby opened her home to her many friends and relatives and will be sadly missed by all. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport where she was actively involved and will be greatly missed by all. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and participating in the ELW. Relatives and friends are invited to the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Wednesday, July 4 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Clarence will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Clarence grew up on a farm and worked hard alongside his family. At 14 he was a Farm Service Force volunteer contributing to the food production for the war effort. Clarence graduated from Elmira High School, worked for Mutual Life of Canada, BF Goodrich and was the proud owner of the Western Tire Store in New Hamburg for 15 years. He was a member of the New Hamburg Board of Trade and served as a council member at Trinity Lutheran Church. Special thank you to the staff at Nithview for lovingly caring for Dad and our family. As per Clarences' wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 23 Church Street, New Hamburg on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Larson officiating. Funeral service for Alvin G. Gies, 31 Hugo Cres., who died at St. Mary's Hospital Tuesday, will be held at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Friday at 3 p.m.

Rev. A.J. Baetz will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo. Donations to the Ontario Heart Foundation or the building fund of the church may be made as expressions of sympathy.

Mr. Gies was born in Macton; a son of Mrs. Emma Gies of Kitchener and the late Charles W. Gies, who died in 1963.
He is also survived by his wife, the former Anne Padkova; two sons, Douglas of Kitchener, Robert, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Stewart (Carol) Rank, Milverton; Sandra at home; three brothers, Harold, St. Jacobs; Wilbert, London, Ont., and Laval of Doon, and three grandchildren.

STEVER, Ervin Passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 8, 2015, just short of his 90th birthday. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Cornell) for 64 years. Loving father of Glen (Angela), Robert (Ann), Linda Sullivan (Dennis), Rodney (Bernita), Bradley, Pamela Lynn (Wayne), Lori Stever. Ervin will be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
