    Notes:

    Mrs. Leslie Hyde

    There passed away to her eternal reward on Thursday, April 24th, one of North Easthope's best known residents in the person of Pearl Lavina Eidt, beloved wife of Leslie E. Hyde, at the age of 40 years and 6 days.
    Mrs. Hyde was in her usual good health until two weeks ago when she was suddenly taken ill and suffered severe pain for two weeks. Her death was a shock to all who knew her and has cast a deep gloom over the neighbourhood where she was so highly respected.

    The deceased was of a amiable disposition and was loved by all who learned to know her. In spite of all medical aid and all that loving hands could do she passed away. The thread of life broke early, but her time was here and God called her higher.

    Mrs. Hyde was a faithful member of the New Hamburg Evangelical Church and Sunday School and a valued member of Ladies' Aid and W.M.S. She died a painful death in hope of eternal life.

    The deceased was born in North Easthope on April 18th, 1890 and has spent all her life in this district and was well and favorably known.

    She leaves to mourn her early demise the heart broken, stricken husband, to sons and one daughter, Helen, Reuben and LaVerne, all at home, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Eidt, New Hamburg, and five sisters, Mrs. Henry Becker and Mrs. Emil Schmidt, of New Hamburg, Mrs. Herb. Shantz, Stratford, Mrs. Aaron Niebergall and Mrs. Gideon Mohr, of North Easthope. The funeral took place from her late residence on Monday afternoon. Owing to Evangelical church being redecorated the funeral was held in the Baptist church and was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. A. E. Pletch, pastor, conducted the services assisted by Rev. J. Burn, of Oetzels, and O. G. Hallman, of Shakespeare. The pallbearers were Alex Christner, Roy Luckhardt, Clayton Ingold, C. O. Kruspe, Roy Hastings and Victor Hesse. Friends were present from London, Elkton, Mich., Kitchener, Hamilton, Ayton, Hanover, Milverton, Rostock, Tavistock, Stratford, Wellesley, Mannheim, Wartburg, New Hamburg, Millbank and Wilmot Centre. The funeral was attended by a very large assemblage of people who had come to pay their last tribute of respect to one whom they loved so well in life. Many beautiful floral tributes were sent by sympathizing friends, among them being a Broken Wheel from family, Pillow from parents, Gates Ajar from the sisters, Wreaths from Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Rennie, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rennie, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rader, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader and family, Mr. William Rader, Miss Boneta Rader, West Hamilton, The Ladies Aid, W.M.S. of Evangelical church, Wingfelder family, Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. B. Stock, London, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zulauf, Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Lotz, Wilmot Centre, Sprays from Mr. and Mrs. E. Kalbfleisch and family, New Hamburg, Junker and Stock Creamery, New Hamburg, Mr. and Mrs. David Trussler and family, Wellesley, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Eidt, Burnside, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Damm, Ayton. The Ladies' Adult Bible Class, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schneller and son, Roy, Mannhiem.

    Sweetly she sleeps while others sigh
    From grief and care oppressed.
    While softly her head doth lie
    Upon her Saviour's breast.
    The moon and stars are shinning
    On that lone and silent grave;
    Beneath it lies the one we loved,
    The one we could not save.
