Good. --- Noah M., son of Menno and Joanna (Martin) Good, was born near Elmira, Ont., Jan. 21, 1866; passed away 84 y. 5 m. 29 d. He was ill for two months previous to his death. On March 17, 1895, he was married to Rebecca Eky, who predeceased him Dec. 17, 1949. To this union were born 6 children (Vera-Mrs. Irvin Gingrich, deceased; Ivan, who died in infancy; Alvin, Laura, Myrl-Mrs. Alfred Bowman, and Violet-Mrs. Lincoln Shantz, all of Guernsey, Sask.). Others remaining are one sisters (Mrs. Simeon Snyder, Waterloo, Ont.), and 2 brothers (Amos and Henry, also of Waterloo.). He was baptized at the age of thirty-nine and united with the Mennonite Church at Floradale, Ont. In 1906, the family moved to Carstairs, Alta., and later to Didsbury, where they resided until 1920, when they moved to Guernsey, Sask. Funeral services were conducted at the Sharon Mennonite Church, in charge of Stanley D. Shantz. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery

AMOS GOOD

A former Waterloo resident, Amos Good, 87, died Monday, January 26 at the home of his son, Alton Good, in Southampton. He had lived there for several years.

A native of Elmira, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Louisa Mueller.

Beside his son, Alton, he is survived by another son, Marvin of Drayton. He is the last surviving member of his family. There are three grand-children.

MRS. JACOB CLEMMER

The death of Mrs. Jacob Clemmer occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Amzie Martin, 66 Charles street, Waterloo, this morning. Mrs. Clemmer was 66 years of age.

She is survived by her husband, three sons, Leander, Ervin and Menno of Waterloo, two daughters, Mrs. Peter Martin, Elmira, and Mrs. Amzie Martin, Waterloo, three brothers, Noah Good of Guernsey. Sask., and Amos and Henry Good of Waterloo, and by one sister, Mrs. Simon Snyder. Kitchener.

The funeral will be held from her residence. R.R. No. 3. Waterloo, Wednesday afternoon at 1.30 to Martin's Mennonite church. Elmira Highway, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The remains will rest at the Letter and Dreisinger Funeral Home until Wednesday morning when they will be removed to the home.

Good, -- Henry, son of the late Menno and Joanna (Martin) Good, was born in Woolwich Township, Oct. 19, 1877; died suddenly at his home near Waterloo, Ont., May 14, 1955; aged 77 y. 6 m. 25 d. On Dec. 26, 1905, he was united in marriage to Mary Martin who survives him. He is also survived by 8 children (Viola, Goshen, Ind.; Lorene-Mrs. George Collier, Upland, Calif.; Milton, Lexington, Ont.; Edna, Argentina, South America; Vera, Toronto, Ont.; Erma-Mrs. Daniel Collier, Upland, Calif.; Robert, Simcoe, Ont.; and Harold, Waterloo), one brother (Amos, Waterloo), and 8 grandchildren. He was a member and regular attendant at the Erb Street Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Erb Street Church on May 17, with J. B. Martin officiating. Interment was made in the Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery.

MRS. ELIZABETH SNYDER

Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder, 74, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday at K-W Hospital following a brief illness. Born March 28, 1880, in Woolwich Township, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Menno Good. She was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle, Kitchener. Her husband, Simeon W. Snyder, predeceased her in March, 1947.

Surviving are four sons, Milford G. of Kitchener, Ian G. of Dunbarton, Urias G. of Toronto and Clayton G. of Montreal and two brothers, Henry and Amos Good, both of R.R. 3, Waterloo. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

The body was at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener, until Tuesday at 1 p.m. when removal was made to Pentecostal Tabernacle, Kitchener, for the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery. Rev. George Greatorex, pastor, officiated.

In 1956 Miss Lichty moved to Kitchener to live with her brother, Lincoln, at 93 Cedar St. South. She was a member of St. Jacobs Mennonite Church. Surviving besides her brother, are two sisters, Mrs. Anson Martin of Floradale and Mrs. William Thaler of Williamsburg. The body will be at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor here until Monday at 11 a.m. The funeral will be conducted at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church for a memorial service at 2: 30 p.m. conducted by Rev.Rufus Jutzi. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Mennonite Cemetery.

MILTON ROY GOOD 1911 - 2008 Milton passed away, unexpectedly at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Monday, March 3, 2008, in his 97th year. Milton Roy Good was born on June 20, 1911, on a small farm in Waterloo Township (now in the City of Waterloo) to Henry and Mary (Martin) Good. He was the third child and eldest son in a family of eight and is survived by his brother, Harold; and three sisters, Edna, Erma and Vera. In 1938 he married the late Verna I. Snider and had two sons, James (wife Eva) and John, and two grandsons, Thomas and James. After Verna's death in 1976, he married Eleanor (Young) High. Their marriage ended with the death of Eleanor in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Brubacher) Good. In 1927 Milton joined the Royal Bank at the Waterloo branch and for twenty-one years served at several Ontario branches, resigning in 1948 to take on the position of Office Manager at the Kitchener firm of H. Boehmer and Company. In 1961 he became President and General Manager, seeing the firm through a period of substantial expansion until it was sold in 1973. At the age of eighteen, in 1929, he was appointed Treasurer of The Mennonite Mission Board of Ontario, a position he held for the next twenty-one years. In this office he became involved with many church agencies in Canada and the United States where he served as the first Board Chair of Mennonite Mutual Aid which he helped organize. In Canada, he was involved in establishing Conrad Grebel University College and was the first Chair of its Board of Governors. Milton Good was a member of the Board of J. M. Schneider Ltd. for a number of years. He was also President of the K-W Symphony. After retiring from active business in 1976 he became Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the Centre in the Square, successfully completing the financing of that project. In 1974 he established Good Foundation Inc., a private foundation that has supported many charities, mostly in the Waterloo region. In 1995 he was the guest of honour at the annual dinner sponsored by the Mayor of Kitchener, and in 1996 he was elected to the Waterloo County Hall of Fame. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Milton during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street South in Waterloo, on Friday, March 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Milton's life will be held at Erb Street Mennonite Church, 131 Erb Street West, Waterloo, on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Milton R. Good was born in 1911 in Waterloo Township. After completing a commercial course at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School, he worked for the Royal Bank for twenty-one years. In 1948, he joined H. Boehmer and Company where he became President and General Manager.

His record of service to the community is impressive. He was first chairman of the Board of Governors of Conrad Grebel College on which he served for twenty-one years. He was involved with the founding of Fairview Mennonite Home, Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, Mennonite Mutual Aid, Eastwood Mennonite Community Homes Inc. and the Mennonite Publishing Service. He was president of the K-W Symphony Orchestra and chaired the committee which raised the final $2.5 million to finance Kitchener's Centre in the Square.

Good established the charitable Good Foundation in 1974 and assisted in the management of the Eastwood Community, Kitchener. He was guest of honour at the Mayor's Dinner in 1995.

Vera M. Good was born on a farm north of Waterloo in 1914. She left school at Grade 8 and while working for Kaufman Rubber Co., completed Grades 9-12 by private study. She took Grade 13 at K-W Collegiate Institute and won a scholarship.

After completing a one-year course in teacher education, she taught for two years and worked with the Mennonite Relief Association in India in the 1940s. She earned a degree in Social Work and Education from Goshen College, Indiana and an M.A. in education (gifted children) at Northwestern University, Illinois.

Good was one of the first women's principals in Etobicoke and was the first woman supervisor of education in the Province. After completing her PhD at Columbia University, she was appointed an inspector for the Ontario Ministry of Education. She was a department head at TV Ontario for fifteen years and after retirement helped set up educational networks in Jamaica and Belize.

GOOD, Vera Mary 1915 - 2019 Vera Mary Good died on Tuesday, March 19, at Norview Lodge in Simcoe in her 104th year. Born on a small farm in what is now the City of Waterloo on November 13, 1915, she was the 5th child of Henry and Mary (Martin) Good. Her siblings are all deceased: Viola, Lorene, Milton, Edna, Erma, Robert, and Harold. She had no children herself but was a favorite aunt to 12 nieces and nephews. The family is particularly grateful to Joan and Paul Good and to Mary Beth and Brad Smith for their care and oversight of Vera during her final years in Simcoe. Vera had a long and interesting life recently chronicled in a biography by Nancy Silcox. She was at heart a teacher, beginning her own life-long education in a one-room rural school and culminating in 1965 with a doctoral degree from Columbia University in New York. Her professional career started as a teacher of grades 1 to 8 at Riverbank School near Breslau, but was interrupted by a stint in India serving with the Mennonite Central Committee after WWII. Vera, specializing in programs for gifted children, became only the second female principal appointed by the Township of Etobicoke. She was the first woman to be appointed to the rank of inspector with Ontario's Department of Education. When Educational Television was established in Ontario in 1965 she was part of the original team. She was a co-winner of a Gemini Award in 2010 for her work as the original producer of "Polka Dot Door," TVO's longest running series. In 1971 Vera married Antoni "Talleck" Nowakowski. They lived in Toronto's Rosedale until his death in 1976. In June of 2010, Vera received an honourary Doctor of Letters degree from Wilfred Laurier University. She delivered the convocation address to a standing ovation, although by that time legally blind. Vera was herself until the very end. She maintained her independent spirit, good sense of humour, and general interest in life and those around her. She will be missed. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be at the Erb Street Mennonite Church Cemetery in Waterloo. A memorial gathering is being planned for a yet-to-be-determined date. Vernon was a long time member of Woodside Bible Fellowship exemplifying gracious living, good stewardship and faithfulness to his Lord.
