    Abraham Otterbein

    PRESTON, Abraham Otterbein, 73, of 362 Kitchener Rd., died today at his home. Mr. Otterbein was born near Dashwood. He lived in Preston for over 50 years and was a motorman on the Grand River Railway, until retiring eight years ago. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. His wife the former Florence Voegtle, died in 1960. Surviving are two sons, Harry of Acton and Wilfred of RR 1, Preston: two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Ella) Dawson of Preston and Mrs. Gordon (Dorothy) Zimmerman of Galt: 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, where the funeral will he conducted at 2;30 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Preston Park Lawn, cemetery.

    At K-W Hospital, on Thursday, July 12, 1990, Wilf Otterbein, of Limerick Drive, Kitchener, aged 66 years. Wilf was a longtime employee of Canadian (CPR) Railways, before retirement. He was also a member of Christ The King United Church. Dear father of Tom and his wife Penny of Kitchener, Daniel and his wife Valerie of Whitehorse, Yukon, Debbie and her husband Jim Fodor of Kitchener, Jennifer and her husband Terry Jones of Cambridge (G). Loving grandfather of Chris Otterbem, Jason and Cheryl Otterbein, Joshua Forler and Matthew Jones. Dear brother of Ella Barclay and Dorothy Zimmerman, both of Cambridge and Harry Otterbem of Acton. Dearly loved friend of Jean Buffham and her family. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Bess in 1983. At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place.     Dorothy Otterbein was the beloved partner of Keith Weekes; dear mother of Susan Glousher, John Calder Jr., Gordon Calder and Gerry Zimmerman. Grandmother of Nancy Steckley. William Calder and Matthew Zimmerman and her sister, Ella Barclay. Also lovingly remembered by Marilyn and Jim Boomer, Sandy and Guy Guenard and Marianne Riley.

    Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Abraham and Florence Otterbein and two brothers, Wilfred and Harry.

    The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses and staff of the fifth floor Oncology of Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their loving care.

    Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at 11 a.m.

    In lieu of flowers, donations to Medi- cal Day Care or the Oncology unit of Cambridge Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

    Gordon H. Calder, 64, of Harrisville, Michigan passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 peacefully at his home. Born August 2, 1952 to John and Dorothy (Otterbein) Calder in Cambridge, (Galt) Ontario, Canada. Gordon was raised in Galt.

    Gordon married Susan Griffith on May 8, 1980, in Lincoln Park, Michigan. In 1982 their son, William was born. The Calder's moved to Trenton in 1989. Gordon became a U.S. citizen in 1996. He was employed as a truck driver for 42 years before retiring in 2009 to Harrisville.

    Gordon belonged to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Harrisville, he enjoyed woodworking, camping, biking, fishing, swimming and hiking. He loved being "Papa" to his grandsons.

    Gordon is survived by his wife Susan, his son, William Russell "Billy", (Dannielle) Calder of Gibraltar, two grandchildren, Garrett and Gavin Calder, a sister, Susan (Doug) Kimpel of Sheffield, Ontario, a brother, John B. Calder of Cambridge, Ontario, a niece, Nancy (Mike) Steckly of Kitchener, Ontario and great nephews, Jarred and Jacob Steckly, father-in-law, Bill Griffith of Fort Pierce, Fla, and mother in law, Jeanne Griffith of Harrisville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

    A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Harrisville on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Ken Krause officiating. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, MI. Memorial donations are suggested to Westminster Presbyterian Church 201 N. Second Street Harrisville, MI 48740.

    A memorial gathering will be on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 5 - 9 pm at The Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd., Trenton, MI 48183, 734-671-5400.
