    Kennel, John K., son of Joseph and Rosina (Kipfer) Kennel, was born in Perth Co., Ont., Nov. 24, 1872; died at the Milford (Nebr.) Rest Home, Jan. 21, 1960; aged 87 y. 1 m. 27 d. He lived near Shickley, Nebr., since 1904 until five years before his death, when he went to the Milford Rest Home. On Nov. 11, 1896, he was married to Katie Lichti at Longmont, Colo., by Joseph Schlegel. They had one daughter (Rosa Meta--Mrs. William Saltzman, Limon, Colo.). His wife died on March 5, 1911. On Feb. 2, 1915, he was married to Mary Lichti at Shickley by Peter Kennel, Sr. They had 3 children (John Christian, who died in infancy; Donald, Pocatello, Idaho; and Beatrice--Mrs. Sam Gross, Shickley, Nebr.). He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 36 great- grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church.

    Kennel. -- Jacob, son of the late Jacob and Rosina (Kipfer) Kennel, was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., April 12, 1879; passed away in the Samaritan Hospital, Nampa, Idaho, July 6, 1948; aged 69 y. 2 m. 25 d. Death resulted from internal injuries received that day when he fell from a wagon and frightened horses dragged his body underneath a load of hay. He came to the United States at the age of nineteen. Early in youth he was baptized and became a member of the Mennonite Church, remaining a member until death. On Nov. 19, 1906, he was married to Elizabeth Saltzman at Shickley, Neb. They later resided in Michigan, Nebraska, and Colorado, and in 1936 moved to Nampa, Idaho. Surviving are his companion, 6 sons (Henry, Melba, Idaho; Melvin, Oakland, Calif.; Ezra, Lynwood, Calif.; Jess, Kuna, Idaho; and John and Ervin, Nampa, Idaho), 4 daughters (Elma - Mrs. Edmond Anderson; Ruth and Mary, of Nampa; and Katie - Mrs. Joe Kennel, Albany, Oreg.), one brother (John, Shickley, Nebr.), and 10 grandchildren. His parents, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held July 10 at the Nampa Mennonite Church in charge of E. S. Garber; assisted by D. A. Good and Robert Garber. Text: Ps. 90: 12; 39: 4. Burial was made in the Kohler Lawn Cemetery.

    Boshart, David K., son of Joseph and Lydia (Kennel) Boshart, was born near Wellesley, Ont., Feb. 21, 1886; died at the K-W Hospital, Nov. 19, 1963; aged 77 y. 8 m. 29 d. He was married to Magdalene Steinman, who died in December, 1962. Surviving are 3 sons (Elmer, Delton, and Floyd), 2 daughters (Ruby - Mrs. John Miles and Alice - Mrs. Gerald Riehl), 29 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and one sister (Sarah). He was a member of the Steinman Church, where funeral services were held on Nov. 22, in charge of Peter Nafziger, Orland Gingerich, and Elmer Schwartzentruber.

    Mrs. Rudy Wagler

    Mrs. Rudy Wagler, 62, of 59 Moore Avenue, Kitchener, died suddenly early Monday, February 7, at K.-W. Hospital as the result of a heart attack.

    Born Lavina Kennel in Wellesley Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Ms. Joseph K. Kennel, Mrs. Wagler had lived in Kitchener for 10 years. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church.

    Surviving are her husband, to who she was married June 10, 1928; a son, Emanuel, North Tonawanda, N.Y.; a brother, Emanuel, of Wellesley, and a sister, Mrs. Violet Jantzi, of Baden. She was predeceased by a son who died in infancy.

    The funeral service was held of Wednesday afternoon at First Mennonite church, conducted by Bishop C. F. Derstine. Burial was in First Mennonite cemetery.

    Lavina married Rudolph "Rudy" Wagler 10 Jun 1928. Rudolph (son of John Z. Wagler and Catherine "Kate" Streicher) was born 8 Oct 1902, , Perth Co., Ontario, Canada; died 18 Mar 1981, Tavistock, , Devonshire, England; was buried , First Mennonite Cemetery, Kitchener, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada.     STEINMAN, Violet (Jantzi) - Passed away, on Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Violet was born 88 years ago in Wellesley Township, a daughter of the late Joseph K. and Magdalene (Bast) Kennel. She was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden, and enjoyed gardening, crafts, flowers and quilting. Violet was predeceased by her husbands Ervin Jantzi in 1965, and Clayton Steinman in 1992. Devoted mother of Elverne Jantzi of Baden, and Beatrice and Frank Klein of Wisconsin, and step-mother of Floyd and Anna Mae Steinman, Orval and Judy Steinman, Marie and Ronald Gerber, all of Wellesley, Roy Steinman of Hickson, and Bernice Wagler of New Hamburg. Also missed by her granddaughter Mary Katherine Klein, 13 step-grandchildren, 28 step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Lavina Wagler, brother Emanuel Kennel, brothers-in-law Rudy Jantzi, Joel Jantzi, and Rudy Steinman, and step-son-in-law Mahlon Wagler. Relatives and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Monday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The interment will take place on Tuesday March 17, 2009 at 12: 30 p.m. at St. Agatha Mennonite Church Cemetery. The memorial service to celebrate Violet's life will follow at 2 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden with Pastor Steve Drudge and Pastor Ilene Bergen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, or the charity of your choice.
