    PRESTON - Funeral of William E. Pautler, 75, 533 Moore St., who died Wednesday will be conducted Saturday. The body is at the Maurice J. O'Brien Funeral Home, Preston, where the rosary will be recited Thursday at 7.30 p.m., by 2nd Preston Scouts; Friday at 3 p.m. by the Catholic Women' s League; 8 p.m. by the Holy Name Society and 9 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus, Requiem high mass will be conducted in St. Clement's RC Church at 10 a.m. Saturday and burial will be in St. Ciement's Cemetery. Mr. Pautler, born in Preston, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pautler. He lived here all his life except for one year in Kitchener. A grocer, he retired last fall. He was a member of St. Clement's Church and a counsellor for the Holy Name Society, charter member of Galt Council, Knights of Columbus and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kitchener. He was recently made an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. Interested in Scouting, he was active in building the Preston Scout House, was chairman of 2nd Preston Scout group committee, secretary of Preston and Hespeler Area Council and a member of the executive of South Waterloo Boy Scouts Association. He was a returning officer in this area for every election for 45 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Hart, whom he married in Galt in 1907; four sons, Joseph, Jerome, Gerald and Norbert, all of Preston; three daughters, Sister M. Imelda of Kitchener, Sister M. Rose of Brantford and Sister M. Norbert of Owen Sound; two brothers, Martin and Anthony, both of Preston, and two sisters, Louise and Rose, both of Preston, and eight grandchildren.

Rev. Sister M. Imelda, (Marie), S.S.N.D., Kitchener, Jerome of Preston, Rev. Sister M. Rose (Berenice), C.S.J., of St. Joseph's Hospital, Brantford. Gerald of Preston, Rev. Sister M. Norbert, (Eileen) S.S.N.D., Owen Sound, and Norbert, of Preston, in his 76th year. Mr. Pautler is at the Maurice J. O'Brien Funeral Residence, 328 Lowther street north, (at Laurel) until Saturday at 9:30 a.m., thence to St. Clement's church for solemn requiem mass at 10 o'clock. Interment St. Clement's cemetery. Members of Second Preston Scouts, (St. Clement's) are requested to meet on Thursday (this evening) at 7:30 p.m., and on Friday members of the C.W.L. at 3 p.m., the Holy Name Society at 8 p.m., and the Knights of Columbus at 9 p.m. at the Funeral Residence for the recitation of the Rosary.

    Joseph Pautler

    PRESTON - Joseph W. Pautler of 565 Moore St. died Saturday at his home after a brief illness. He was 62. Mr. Pautler was born in Preston. He was an accountant at the Collier-MacMillan of Canada Warehouse in Galt. He was a member of St. Clement's RC Church, a third degree member of Galt Council 2184 of the Knights of Columbus and from 1944 until 1946, a grand knight of the organization. He was a fourth degree member of the Father Funcken General Assembly of Kitchener and past faithful navigator. He was also a member of the Alhambra, of which he was district deputy in 1957 and a member of the Canadian Credit Men's Association Ltd. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Pautler. Surviving are three brothers, Jerome, Gerald and Norbert, all of Preston; three sisters, Sister Imelda of the School of Sisters of Notre Dame, Hamilton, Sister Eileen of the School of Sisters of Notre Dame at Mildmay and Sister Rose of St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton. The body is at the Barthel-Stager funeral home until Tuesday morning when removal will be made to the church for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Clement's cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at the funeral home tonight at 8 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 8: 30 p.m.

Pautler; beloved brother of Norbert and Jerome of Preston and Sister Imelda of Waterdown, Sister Rose of Hamilton, Sister Eileen of Mildmay. Mr. Pautler was born and lived in Preston all his life; he was a letter carrier for the Preston Post Office, member of St. Clement's Church. Mr. Pautler started his scouting career in 1935, he was the assistant Scout Master of the Second Preston Group and also Venturer Advisory of the Second Preston Group, he was also District Scout Master. His scouting awards included the Medal of Merit received in 1953, also the Long Service award and bars. He was a veteran of the Second World War. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. E. Pautler, one brother Joseph in 1970, and one sister, Helen in 1928. Mr. Pautler is resting at the Barthel.Stager Funeral Home. 566 Queen St., Preston, until Wednesday morning, then to St. Clement's Church, for funeral mass at 11: 30 a.m. Interment in Park Lawn cemetery. Rosary will be recited at the funeral home, Tuesday evening, at 8: 30 p.m.
