    PRESTON, Sept. 17 - Clayton Alexander Scherer, a resident of Preston for many years, died early today at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 61. He had been ailing for the past year and confined to hospital for 10 weeks. Born in Waterloo, Mr. Scherer came to Preston as a youth and resided here since that time. A machinist by trade, he was employed by Preston Woodworking Machinery and Eastern Steel Products, during the past few years. For 22 years prior to that he was a bread delivery salesman in Preston and in that work formed a large circle of friends. He was keenly interested in sports. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, he was also a member of Preston Cambridge Lodge, 1.O.O.F. Surviving are his wife. the former Mary Mitchell; three sons, Carl and Roy of Preston and Frank of Galt, two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Doris) Bartholomew and Mrs. Edward (Marjorie) MacDonald of Preston: a sister. Mrs. Walter Ruppel, Preston and a brother, Fred Scherer of Dayton, Ohio. Seven grandchildren also survive. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, where the funeral will be held Wednesday, at 2.30 p.m., with interment in the Preston cemetery.

    Formerly of 180 Melrose St.. Cambridge, on Wednesday, Dec 18, 1991, at her residence, 824 King St. E., Cambridge, after a lengthy illness, Doris Scherer, in her 79th year. Beloved wife of Harold W. Bartholomew; dear mother of Harold William and his wife Shirley of Guelph. John Clayton and his wife Jean of Elmira, Shirley and her husband Robert Nanson of Scarborough and Delores and her husband Wayne Thaler of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Roy Scherer and Franklin Scherer, both of Cambridge. Predeceased by her parents; one brother, Carl and one sister, Marjorie MacDonald. Mrs. Bartholomew was horn in Cambridge (Preston) and was a life-long resident. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Cambridge. She and Harold had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in October. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Thursday), 7.9 p.m. and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will he conducted at the funeral home Saturday, Dec. 21, 1991, at 1: 30 p.m. Interment Parklawn cemetery, Cambridge.

    Of 932 Caledonian View, Cambridge, on Friday, April 16, 1993, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Alma Hulks; dear father of Robert and his wife Janet, Rick, Barb and her husband Andy Benninger and Bonnie and her husband Bill Higgins, all of Cambridge; lovingly remembered by six grandchildren and one brother, Franklin and his wife Marce of Cambridge. Predeceased by his parents, Clayton and Mary Scherer; one brother, Carl and two sisters, Doris Bartholomew and Marjorie MacDonald. Mr. Scherer was born in Cambridge (Galt) and was a lifelong resident. He was a. retired superintendent of Screen Print of Brantford; a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Preston Branch 126. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral and committal service will be conducted at the funeral home Monday, April 10, 1993, at 1: 30 p m., by Rev. Norris Heubner. Interment Parklawn Cemetery.
