    SCHWANDT, Annie Sophie

    At Cambridge Country Manor, on Thursday, Feb. 4, 1993, Annie (Searth) Schwandt, formerly of RR 2, Breslau, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Benjamin (1984). Dear mother of Lloyd of Chatham, Mrs. Bertram (Myrtle) Dale of Pickering and Mrs. John (Mildred) Martin of Waterloo. Also survived by six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Schwandt was the last surviving member of the William Searth family of Shantz Station. Resting at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1700 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge, where the family will receive friends tonight (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7 at 2: 30 p.m. Interment Zion United Church Cemetery.

    SCHUT, Mildred Beatrice - 1922-2007. Passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family, on February 24, 2007, at the age of 85. Loving wife of George John Schut; loving mother of Ron and his wife Janis, Larry and his wife Shirl, her son Richard and daughter Judy. Loving grandmother of Becky, Katie, Laurel, Jason, Jenifer, Jordan, Scott, Karen, and great-grandmother of Makayla and Ethan. Mildred is remembered by loving sisters Elvira Shantz and Erma Korn. Predeceased by mother and father Marguerite and William Searth, and brother Howard. Lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law Minnie Howes and June Schut. Predeceased by in-laws Helena and John Schut, and brothers-in-law Bill Howes and Stan Schut. How very appropriate, that this lady born on Valentine's Day in 1922, has been gifted with the art of loving. Lovingly giving of her many talents and her winsome personality, she embellished many lives by her generous spirit. She loved well and was well loved in return. Millie devoted her entire life to her family, her church and her friends. Her illness and death is an overwhelming loss for everyone. She will be sadly missed and has left everlasting and unforgettable memories. Thank you to everyone for helping our mother in so many ways over the years, but a special thank you to her daughter-in-law Shirl, for her tender loving care throughout her illness. Mildred will remain in our prayers for all eternity. We Love You, Wife, Mother and Grandmother. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Knox Preston Presbyterian Church, 132 Argyle St. N., Cambridge, on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. Spring interment at Zion Cemetery.     ELVERA PEARL SHANTZ
    (nee Searth)
    1925 - 2009

    Passed away peacefully at Lisaard House, Cambridge, December 13, 2009 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 84 years old. Loving Mother of Susan McLaughlin (husband Ray) and Roger Shantz (late wife Janis). Cherished Gramma of Lucas (wife Michelle) and Nathan (wife Lindsay) McLaughlin; and Matthew (fiancée Crystal), Andrew (partner Allison) and Daniel Shantz. Beloved Great-Gramma of twins James and Morgan McLaughlin, Evan McLaughlin, and Meg Kathleen Pearl McLaughlin. Sister to Erma Korn, Kitchener. Predeceased by her husband Howard Shantz, her parents Marguerite and William Searth, her brother Howard Searth, and her sister Mildred Schut. Elvera was a lifelong resident of Breslau. She was the secretary-treasurer for Howard S. Shantz Excavating Limited for many years. She was well known for her faith, as a member of various churches including Trinity Lutheran Church in Shantz Station (now closed), Hope Lutheran in Kitchener and her 'cottage church' Geneva Presbyterian in Chesley. Her unfailing dedication to charitable causes such as Lampwick missions will live on in the many quilts that she was so generously a part of, and in the Hope Church "Mitten Tree". Elvera enjoyed many years at "The Cottage" near Chesley, where she would spend countless hours with her flower gardens, her birds, her family and cutting and sewing her quilting patches. She had a love of music and singing, having played the organ for most of her lifetime, including playing for services at various churches over the years. She will be missed by her cat "Salem", whom she rescued as a kitten from the road at the cottage. Elvera's family will receive friends and family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Tuesday, December 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 1: 30 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 30 Shaftsbury Drive, Kitchener (519-893-5290). Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Shantz Station. The family wishes to thank Elvera's many friends for their prayers, phone calls and cards during her illness. A special thanks to the devoted and compassionate staff and volunteers at Lisaard House.
