GEORGE W. DAHMER - Succumbing to a heart attack while on holidays, George W. Dahmer, 78 Union Street, Waterloo, expired suddenly in Detroit yesterday at the home of his son, Oscar. Deceased had left the Twin City only five days previously for an extended holiday with his four children in Detroit. He would have been 65 years of age on Monday next April 5th.

Born in Conestogo, the late Mr. Dahmer had lived all his life in Waterloo County. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo and of the Canadian Order of Foresters.

Besides his widow, four children, Oscar, Delbert, George and Mrs. Oscar Hintz, all of Detroit, survive him, together with eight brothers, and five sisters. They are William, Fred and John, of Waterloo; Charles, David, Menno and Walter of Kitchener; Henry of Conestogo; Mrs. Carl Klaehm, Mrs. Angus Wolff, and Mrs. Ivan Grischow, Kitchener; Mrs. Oscar Yack, Bridgeport; and Mrs. Milton Rohn, New Hamburg. Seven grandchildren also survive.

The remains were received in Kitchener this morning by the Ratz and Bechtel Funeral Home, and services are announced for 2:30 o'clock Monday from his late residence to Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. C.S. Roberts of St. John's Church, will be in charge of the services.

William Dahmer, 88, of 69 Peppler St., Waterloo, died Jan. 4, at the Coutts Pavilion, Freeport Sanatorium, after a lengthy illness.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahmer, he was born Aug. 16, 1873, in Conestogo. He came to Waterloo in 1907 and was employed at the Carling Breweries Ltd. for 33 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

He is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Gerbig whom he married in Conestogo more than 60 years ago; four sons, 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Henry H. Dahmer - By Record Correspondent - Conestogo - Henry H. Dahmer, 81, of Conestogo died Sunday at the home of his son, Erwin, in Conestogo, after a lengthy illness. A son of the late Henry Dahmer and Elizabeth Hess, he was born here on Nov. 13, 1875. He was married to Margaret Hobus, who predeceased him in 1939. A daughter, Marie, died in September, 1914. Mr. Dahmer was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons, Erwin of Conestogo and Lloyd of Waterloo; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; five brothers, William, Charles and Frederick of Waterloo; David and Walter of Kitchener, and six sisters, Mrs. Winnie Klaehn, Mrs. Annie Wolfe, Mrs. Maude Yaeck, Mrs. Amelia Grischow of Kitchener, Mrs. Lillie Mohr of New Hamburg and Mrs. Margaret Merkel of Buffalo. Three brothers, George, John and Menno predeceased him. The body is resting at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, until noon Wednesday when removal will be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran church where the funeral will be held at 2: 30 pm. Mr. Dahmer was born in Conestogo, Oct. 13, 1879, a son of Henry Dahmer and the former Elizabeth Hess. He retired a year ago after working for the City of Waterloo for 20 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

MRS. OSCAR YAECK

Mrs. Oscar Yaeck, 78 Onward Ave., died Sunday at K-W Hospital. She was 81.

The former Maude Dahmer, she was born in Conestogo and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Dahmer. She has lived in Kitchener all her life. Mrs. Yaeck was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Her husband died in 1947.

Surviving are one son, Harold of Kitchener; two brothers, Walter and David, both of Kitchener; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Klaehn and Mrs. Winnie Klaehn and Mrs. Amelia Grischow, both of Kitchener, and Mrs. Tillie Mohr of New Hamburg; two grandclilldren and three great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Schreiter- Sandrock Funeral Home where Rev. A .A. Schweitzer of St. Mark's Lutheran Church will conduct the service Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Bridgeport cemetery.

Donations to the Ontario Heart Foundation will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

Mrs. Thomas Novick, formerly of Waterloo, died in Detroit Saturday in her 31st year. Mrs. Novick is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Dahmer, Union street east, and was born in Waterloo on May 29, 1906.

Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Dolores and Carol, and one son, Thomas, all at home. Her parents, three brothers, Oscar, Delbert and George Dahmer, all of Detroit, and one sister, Mrs. Oscar Heintz, Detroit, also survive.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home of her parents, Union street, to Waterloo Mount Hope cemetery.

"Man dies day brother is buried"

A Waterloo man died today a few hours before the funeral was conducted for his brother. Percy J. Dahmer of 220 Dawson St. died at K-W Hospital at 8 a.m., following a brief illness. A service was conducted for his brother Edward at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11 a.m. Edward died Tuesday.

Percy Dahmer was employed at the Hauck Glove Co. until retiring five years ago. Edward worked for the city of Waterloo before his retirement.
Two other brothers survive, Willard and Clarence. Willard is a former member of the Waterloo police force, and Clarence (Jada) was once prominent as a player on the Waterloo Tigers baseball team. They are both now arena mangers, Willard in Hamilton and Clarence in the Niagara Falls area.

Percy Dahmer is also survived by his wife, the former Florence McKenzie, and one daughter, Mrs. John (Jean) Nechacov of 281 Lorne Ave.

The body will be at the Edward Good Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Saturday until Monday when removal will be made to St. John's Lutheran chapel for service at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. L. Conrad. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.

CAROL OTTERBEIN OBITUARY

"Absent from the body and present with the Lord" 2 Corinthians 5:8 Carol passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the age of 88. Beloved wife and best friend of Edward for 70 years who she met September 6, 1949 at a Luther League barbeque. Loving mother of Shelley Haffner (Ron), Jill Goodhew (Moreno), Julie Otterbein-Schroeder, Mark Otterbein and Janis Otterbein (Bret). Beloved grandmother to nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Carol will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Myrtle Baetz and sisters Marlene Leeman, Audrey and her husband Ed Leeman. Carol graduated from Eulers Business College as a young woman and went on to hold several office positions over the years. Mom treasured her summers with her family spent at the trailer at Macey's Bay and in later years boating on Georgian Bay. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed a good game of Scrabble. Mom was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and later a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She remained an active church member throughout her life and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Helping those less fortunate was important to mom. When the church sponsored a family from Namibia, Africa, mom took them under her wing and helped them learn to navigate life in Canada. She volunteered with the Habitat for Humanity, Out of the Cold program and was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbours and friends. Special thanks to caregivers Susan, Brittany and Rita for their care and compassion following mom's stroke in August. Carol's family would also like to extend a special thank you to neighbours Mario and Joanne and their family for always being there. A private family service has been arranged for Carol on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Due to COVID-19 there will be no visitation. Audrey Leeman of Waterloo, born on June 16, 1934, died May 30, 2020.

Audrey met the love of her life, Ed Leeman, when she was 16 years old. They were married on September 26, 1953. They had three children, Jeff (Ruth) Leeman of Kitchener, Lisa Leeman (Rob Hendrix) of Colorado and Joelle (Dan) Lavigne of Linwood. Audrey and Ed lived on Brighton Street in Waterloo for 30 years before purchasing a home in Heidleberg. After Ed's passing in 1996, she moved to the north end of Waterloo and was very proud of her little home!

Audrey enjoyed family time most of all. Summers at the cottage on the beach and family vacations were the highlights for her for many years. Being an active member at Christ Lutheran Church was also a very important part of her life and enjoyed being a member of the choir.

Audrey held a few part-time retail jobs before taking a position at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo where she worked for the Faculty of Social Work. Being a mom though, was the job she loved the most!

Audrey is survived by her sister Carol (Ed) Otterbein. She is predeceased by her mother, Myrtle Baetz, her husband, Ed Leeman, and her sister, Marlene Leeman. She will be sadly missed by her best friend Joy, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
