    YOUNG MAN TAKES LIFE

Harold Snyder of Preston Commits Rash Act While Despondent.

One of the best baseball pitchers in the county, Harold Snyder, of Preston, took his own life, following a dispute with his girl friend, Miss Lillian Withington, on Monday evening. Snyder is reported to have walked home with Miss Withington and asked to show the gun before he committed suicide. Upon her refusal, he turned and left her. Upon arriving home she told her family what had happened and they turned out to hunt for the youth who was only twenty years of age.

Just as they were about to set out they heard two shots fired. Failing to find the youth in the cemetery, which is opposite the home, they were about to return when they found him lying at the entrance to the burial ground. Dr. C. Reist, who was called, hurried him to the Galt Hospital but he passed away about an hour after being admitted.

One of the bullets of the .32 calibre revolver entered his temple and the other pierced the body just above the heart. According to Police Chief Crawford this is the first death by violence in this district for several years.

A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the deceased was also a member of the Luther League and of the junior choir of that church. Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Snyder, and his grandfather, Mr. Samuel D. Hilborn, a younger sister survives.

The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon with a service at the house, 345 Vine St., aftern which interment will be made in Preston Cemetery.
