    Of 1701 King St, Preston, Cambridge, at the Coutts Pavilion, Kitchener, Thursday, Feb. 6, 1975, G. Wesley Gowing, beloved husband of the late Ada Irene Harvey, in his 90th year. Dear father of Robert, Frank, Bruce of Cambridge, Clifford of Kitchener, Ralph, Owen Sound, Jack of Cobourg, Grace Gowing, Ruth (Mrs. Edgar Dyck), Jean (Mrs. Elmer Bowey) of Cambridge and Mary (Mrs. Gordon Debus) of Waterloo. Mr. Gowing was born in Listowel and had resided in Preston, for 65 years; retired from Clare Bros. in 1955; a member of the Brethren Gospel Hall, Galt, Cambridge. Mr. Gowing Is also survived by one brother, Lester Earl Gowing of Cambridge, 25 grand-children and two great-grandchildren. Resting at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, corner Argyle and Queenston Rd., Preston, Cambridge, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment in New Hope cemetery, Hespeler.

    GOWING, Grace Mildred October 31, 1914 - August 15, 2011 Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital into the presence of her Lord, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her father George Wesley Gowing, mother Ada Irene (nee Harvey), also brothers Robert, Bruce (Kathryn), Frank Gowing (Ruth), sister Ruth Dyck (Edgar), sister-in-law June Gowing, brother-in-law Gordon Debus. Survived by her sisters Jean Bowey (Elmer) of Cambridge, Mary Debus of Waterloo, brothers Ralph of Owen Sound, Clifford (Joyce) of Kitchener, Jack (Day) of Collingwood, sister-in-law Jean Gowing, as well as many nieces and nephews. A lifetime resident of Preston (Cambridge). Resided for more than 70 years at the family home on east King Street. Grace spent most of her career as a senior secretary for several local firms. In later years, she taught secretarial practices at the community college. She was a long time member of King Street Baptist Church, serving as treasurer and Sunday school teacher. Many years were also spent at Fairview Mennonite Home as a volunteer and teaching crafts. A Funeral Service will be held at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Dr., Cambridge on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith's Orphans Fund or to Fairview Mennonite Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion shown and also to the many who looked after Grace at Fairview Mennonite Home.

    GOWING, George Bruce Passed into the presence of the Lord at Fairview Mennonite Home on Monday, August 2, 2010 in his 92nd year. Bruce was born in Preston on May 6, 1919 and lived there all of his life. He was the son of the late Irene and Wesley Gowing. His wife, Kathryn Mary Bechthold pre- deceased him in 2002, also his brothers Robert and Frank and his sister Ruth Dyck, brothers-in-law Edgar Dyck, Gordon Debus and sisters-in-law June Gowing and Ruth Gowing. He is survived by his sisters; Grace Gowing of Cambridge, Jean Bowey (Elmer) of Cambridge, Mary Debus of Waterloo, his brothers; Ralph Gowing of Owen Sound, Jack (Day) Gowing of Collingwood, Cliff Gowing (Joyce) of Kitchener and sister-in-law Jean Gowing of Cambridge. Also lovingly remembered by many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and great-great-nephews and nieces. Bruce was employed by Grand River Lake Erie and Northern (C.P.R.) Railway for 42 years. In his retired years he was involved with Hackney Ponies and belonged to the Hackney Pony Association. Bruce was a faithful and acting member of the West Side Bible Chapel in Cambridge for most of his life, where he was involved in Sunday School, taking many children to and from Sunday School. Also, Bruce taught Sunday School for many years and was Treasurer of the Chapel for several years. Bruce played hockey for many of the local teams and also with the Guelph Junior A Team. He also received the Most Valuable Player Trophy. Bruce's family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road, Cambridge) on Thursday, August 5 between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and between 1-2 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at Fairview Mennonite Home (515 Langs Drive, Cambridge). Funeral Service to follow at Fairview Mennonite Home at 2 p.m. Interment New Hope Cemetery. In memory of Bruce, memorial donations to the Faith's Orphan Fund or Fairview Mennonite Home would be appreciated by the family.

    GOWING, Frank Passed into the Lord's hands, with his family by his side at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 18, 2010, in his 81st year. Beloved husband of the late Ruth (Carothers) Gowing. Dear father of Stephen Gowing (Anne), Wendy Guenard (Raoul), Tom Gowing (Lynda), Susan Munro (Kris), Victoria McTavish (John) and Mark Gowing (Shirley). Loving Grandpa of 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Survived by 3 sisters, 4 brothers and by many relatives and friends. Frank was a prominent local businessman in Cambridge, mainly in the plumbing and water treatment industry. He was an active member for over 40 years at the Westside Bible Chapel where he served in building and property maintenance. Frank enjoyed many sports, including hockey and baseball.
